Harris-led office, ATF stonewalling probe
into 'collusion' with anti-gun group lawsuit:

Vice President Kamala Harris is campaigning on what she characterizes as a record of a tough former prosecutor. But a White House office she has "overseen" may have focused less on gun crimes and more on targeting a legal gun manufacturer. The House Oversight and Accountability Committee says the Biden-Harris administration is stonewalling an investigation into potential "collusion" with a gun control group founded by billionaire former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg to boost Chicago’s lawsuit against Glock Inc. Since June, neither the White House nor the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, better known as the ATF, has responded to multiple inquiries from the committee.

If the house was actually controlled by us, we'd cut off the money to those agencies, including payroll, until they coughed up what was requested. And toss the political heads of those agencies into the house jail until we got around to holding a hearing and asking them questions, say in a couple years like they are doing to the political prisoners in DC.

A 14-year-old student opened fire at a Georgia high school and killed four people on Wednesday, authorities said, sending students scrambling for shelter in their classrooms — and eventually to the football stadium — as officers swarmed the campus and parents raced to find out if their children were safe. The dead were identified as two students and two teachers at Apalachee High School in Winder, about an hour’s drive from Atlanta. At least nine other people were taken to hospitals with injuries. Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Hosey said two school resource officers encountered the shooter within minutes after a report of shots fired went out.

Donald Trump shocked political observers last week when he appeared to change his position on legalizing marijuana. But, it could become a political jackpot. New surveys suggest voters in the “Blue Wall” states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania could be swayed by Trump’s “green” opinion on cannabis. The Ragnar Research Group polling of 1,000 likely voters between Aug. 18 and Aug. 21 shows broad support for cannabis legalization and very little political downside for Trump in embracing it.

X owner Elon Musk and former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. claimed on social media that Vice President Kamala Harris would want to "shut down" X if it can’t be made to conform to government oversight. The two figures backing former President Trump shared a clip from an interview Harris had with CNN in 2019 after a Democratic presidential primary debate, where she blasted social media sites for "directly speaking to millions and millions of people without any level of oversight and regulation," something she said "has to stop." "Translation: If they don't police content to conform to government-approved narratives, they will be shut down,"

Hawley appeared on "Jesse Watters Primetime" Tuesday night to reveal whistleblowers' claims that when Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents were reassigned to work on the protective details, they were given a single two-hour webinar on Microsoft Teams.

Democrats are seeking to put Republicans in Florida on defense over the issue of abortion. While winning the Sunshine State will be an uphill climb for Democrats, Vice President Harris’s campaign has increased its presence in Florida amid an effort to legalize the procedure in the state through a ballot initiative that will go before voters in November. The “Fighting for Reproductive Rights” bus tour launched Tuesday in Palm Beach, former President Trump’s hometown, and will feature Harris surrogates meeting with voters to discuss access to reproductive rights.

The notoriously verbose Ted Cruz has gone largely silent on abortion, one of his favorite topics to legislate on and bloviate about, during his Senate re-election campaign in Texas – an ominous sign both for Cruz and the anti-abortion movement writ large. Indeed, Texas representative Colin Allred has mounted an unusually strong campaign for Cruz’s Senate seat at a time when Texas has become ground zero in the grisly maternal health disaster unfolding across the country since the fall of Roe v Wade. As of the latest University of Houston poll, the race between Cruz and Allred is currently a dead heat,

Linda Sun, who held numerous posts in New York state government before rising to the rank of deputy chief of staff for Hochul, was arrested on Tuesday morning along with her husband, Chris Hu, at their $3.5m home on Long Island. The pair pleaded not guilty to criminal charges before magistrate Judge Peggy Kuo in Brooklyn. Kuo ordered Sun released on $1.5m bond and Hu on $500,000 bond.

When it was clear that our liberties were going to be violated by public officials’ overreaction to the 2020 novel coronavirus outbreak, we considered encouraging Americans to engage in civil disobedience against the unlawful orders that were about to be issued. We regret that we did not write that editorial. We have no such hesitation in 2024, though. When the COVID test positivity rate surged last month, surpassing the summer peaks of 2022 and 2023, a few voices insisted that we needed to go back to the asinine rules of 2020.

Presidential candidate Kamala Harris still holds a slight lead over former President Donald Trump, but will it last after last week’s interview with CNN? Harris still enjoyed an edge with prospective voters as Labor Day approached, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll suggests, but it might not be sustainable as Trump consolidates his strength among swing-state voters. In a head-to-head matchup, Harris holds a 48% to 45% advantage over Trump in the September I&I/TIPP Poll, with 1,386 registered voters answering the survey from Aug. 28-Aug. 30. The poll has a margin of error of +/-2.8 percentage points.

In a recent and now widely seen Tucker Carlson interview, a guest historian named Darryl Cooper casually presented a surprising number of flawed theories about World War II. He focused his misstatements on the respective roles of Winston Churchill’s Britain and Adolf Hitler’s Germany—especially in matters of the treatment and fate of Russian prisoners, the Holocaust, the systematic slaughtering of Jews, strategic bombing, and the nature of Winston Churchill. Because of the size of the audience Carlson introduced him to, and because of the gravity of Cooper’s falsehoods, his assertions deserve a response.

As a presidential candidate in 2020, Kamala Harris supported several radical proposals to phase out gasoline-powered cars by 2040. She also supported a mandate that required 50% of new car sales by 2030 to be EVs. That was when Harris was running against other Democrats who vied with each other to see who was the most hysterical environmentalist and who could ban gas-powered cars the quickest. This is 2024, and public attitudes toward EV mandates and phasing out gas cars have changed considerably. Seventy percent of Americans oppose phasing out gas cars at any time while demand for EVs has cooled to the point that auto manufacturers around the world are reinvesting

The indictment accuses two Russian nationals, employed by Kremlin-operated media outlet Russia Today, of funneling nearly $10 million to covertly fund and direct the Tennessee company. Here's what we know about Tenet Media and its possible connection with the accusations laid out in the indictment. What is Tenet Media? On its website, Tenet Media describes itself as "a network of heterodox commentators that focus on Western political and cultural issues."
