Florida executed Loran Cole on Thursday in the 1994 murder of an 18-year-old college student whose big sister was raped during what started as a fun camping weekend and became a family's worst nightmare. Cole, 57, was executed by lethal injection and pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m. at the Florida State Prison in Raiford, about 40 miles southwest of Jacksonville. It marked Florida's first execution of the year and the 13th in the nation. Cole was convicted in the 1994 murder of Florida State University student John Edwards and the sexual assault of his older sister in the Ocala National Forest, about 70 miles northwest of Orlando. Thirty years between murder and execution is ridiculous, but better late than never. Cole died by lethal injection, but this is Florida; he had a Hobson's choice. He could choose the gurney, or he could choose the electric chair. Ted Bundy, who went to the 'lectric chair in '89, didn't have a choice. See how fair the State of Florida is now. If you're a fan of classic American music of the 'Thirties and of Bessie Smith, you may remember her "Send Me to the 'Lectric Chair." Strong voice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EC9fDrjz8xM

The article has a lot of detail about this case, from the despicable crimes in 1994 to the despatching of Cole on the table this week. Cole and codefendant William Paul's crimes were capital in nature. Paul, who remains locked up, is fortunate he isn't slated for the same treatment as Cole. Incidentally, this execution was the 106th in Florida since 1979. Bonus question: Who was the first, electrocuted in May 1979, even mentioned in a B-52's song of that era, "Rock Lobster"? It was murderer John Spenkelink. "Ah do the Spenkelink!"

30 years is beyond absurd. In that time most have forgotten the crime. Justice should be swift, certain and public.

What the Hades is wrong with Florida that they still give them subhuman animals a "last meal" of their choice?!?!?!? "Cole's last meal was pizza, M&M's, ice cream and a soda...". He didn't deserve a bite of any of that!!!!!! They should get the same slop that every other prisoner gets that day.

I'm for 'dirt-napping' these filth.... but make ABSOLUTELY SURE that the Perp is Guilty! Not like the guy in Kalifornia that Kammie was trying to put to death, but authorities administered a last-minute DNA test.... that Kammie opposed doing.... and it proved that they had the WRONG GUY!

Now that the euphoria on the part of the delegates to the Democrat Convention has subsided, the Democrats will now have to try to sell to the voting public, a tandem of dubious candidates to try make lemonade out of apples. A major task. It's like the reincarnation of the old vaudeville act of Frick and Frack under the label of Democrat candidates for president and vice-president, “Kackling” Kamala Harris and “Won-Ton” Tim Walz. The Democrat elites went all out, at their convention, to try to bamboozle the electorate into thinking that the the Democrats are really not Democrats, but a clone of their opponents, the Republicans, by copying

Kamala Harris is desperate for a repeat of her debate with Mike Pence in 2020, where she was able to portray herself as the battered woman candidate who was being mansplained and bullied. It was all fabricated and almost certainly planned, but it became her signature: (X) In the two debates scheduled for Joe Biden and Trump, one of the rules was that there would be no talk-over – the mics would be muted when it was not the candidate’s time to speak. That rule, as all the rules, was demanded by Biden. I didn’t think that would be good for Trump, who likes a freewheeling debate style,

When people ask why we need so-called assault weapons, most of us default to point out that we don't have to illustrate a need to exercise our rights. That is completely true and I'm one of those who has said it time and time again. We don't, nor should we. If we're required to show a need, then it's not a right in the first place. That was the core issue at the heart of the Bruen case, really. The state demanded someone show a need and the Supreme Court said you can't do that. That extrapolates out to things like AR-15s. But from time to time, we also see a situation

Tulsi’s long goodbye from the Democratic Party has taken her to precincts like CPAC and, going on two years ago, my own organization’s Fall Briefing. Looking back at my post on that event, I am reminded of how impressed I was by her. Tulsi may be an attractive woman, but much more importantly she comes across as a serious, and above all military, person. She is very smart and also empathetic. Our audience loved her. My only regret about Tulsi Gabbard is that Trump didn’t choose her as his vice presidential nominee. Nothing against J.D. Vance, who I think is doing

He had been, it turned out. But Mr. Sinwar had left the bunker beneath the city of Khan Younis just days earlier, leaving behind documents and stacks of Israeli shekels totaling about $1 million." Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels said that if you repeat a lie often enough it becomes the truth. Democrats and their media lapdogs know this very well and apply it assiduously. How ironic then that Democrats call Republicans 'Nazis' yet themselves follow the Goebbels Nazi propaganda playbook. One of many examples is the “very fine people” lie, a false assertion that President Trump called neo-Nazis such a thing, yet is a standard Democrat talking point and blatant nonsense. President Joe Biden, somewhat awake and alert long past his bedtime, told this whopper, along with many other falsehoods running across his teleprompter, at last week’s Democratic National Convention. Joe Biden is easily the worst human being to hold the office of President of the United States of America. The send-off his own party gave him, as ignominious as it was, was still not nearly as ignominious as he deserved. First, Biden was forced out of his reelection campaign, months after he'd "won" the nomination in a rigged primary, by a cabal of insiders including his old boss, Barack Obama. You know, the man who reminded fellow Democrats to "never underestimate Joe's ability to f*** things up." Then his farewell address — angry and disassociated — was bumped out of primetime by an assortment of has-been and never-will-be speakers.
