Among Independents

Former President Donald Trump has overtaken Vice President Kamala Harris among independents, the latest weekly survey — taken after the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago, Illinois — from the Economist/YouGov found. The survey asked respondents, “In November 2024, who do you plan to vote for in the presidential election” and listed Trump, Harris, independent candidate Cornel West, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein as options. Notably, this survey was taken after independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dropped out of the race and endorsed Trump. Overall, Harris — whom many believe is at the end of the honeymoon period of her campaign

Polls, schmolls, stale Tootsie Rolls. 3 things that, even combined, don't reach the level of a single Worthadamn (the ancient unit of measure for basic relevance)

Polls count voters. The election is decided on ballots. Theoretically, each voter casts one ballot. But in these days of mass registration by dubious means and wholesale mailing of unsolicited ballots, including ineligible and falsely registered "voters" the two are not necessarily the same. If polls are to be believed, Trump is pulling 20%+ of the black vote (usually 5-8% goes GOP) and close to half of the Hispanic vote (usually 20-30%). Assuming those are correct (and that is a big IF that I'm waiting to see), this election should be over. Is there any voting block Trump has dropped in support from 2016 or 2020? Of course, there always seems to be the underpolling effect for Trump ... in both of those elections, Trump did better in the results than pre-election polling. In 20, Trump was polling up to 7% behind Crooked Joe in Wisconsin. Joe won it by a fraction of a percent.

As RedState reported earlier, the clips from CNN of Vice President Kamala Harris giving her first formal sit-down interview since Joe Biden's forced withdrawal from the presidential race in July are starting to drop - and are raising eyebrows along the way. In the first one, the Democratic presidential nominee received a predictable softball question from CNN anchor Dana Bash about the dramatic change in her policy positions (read: flip-flops) from when she first ran for president in 2019 to the present day. Harris answered, in part, that "I think the most important and most significant aspect of my policy perspective and decisions is, my values have not changed."

Did you hear that scream? Liberals far and wide are no doubt freaking out right now because the election they thought they had in the bag after the Democratic Party crowned Kamala Harris as its nominee, which sent a jolt of enthusiasm in their party, is now slipping away. Kamala's honeymoon bounce is now on a downward trajectory, and a slew of battleground state polling is looking really good for Donald Trump. But perhaps even more devastating for the Democrats is that Nate Silver's famous election projection model has Trump ahead for the first time in weeks. That is a nearly ten-point swing in Trump's favor in the projection model

Well, so much for substance! First off, we have to ask whether this is rumor or fact. Trump campaign adviser Jason Miller alleged on Twitter an hour ago or so that the vaunted Kamala Harris-Tim Walz media launch will only last less than a typical sitcom episode, sans commercials. Miller also claims to be "hearing" that CNN won't release a full transcript of the Dana Bash interview either. That would be ... strange: Supposedly, the interview was supposed to run for an hour. With two interview subjects taking their first (supposedly) adversarial questions since getting appointed to the ticket, especially on a ticket that has yet to publish its policy agenda,

Vice President Kamala Harris holds a slim lead over former President Donald Trump after an expected polling bump following last week’s Democratic National Convention, according to a survey released Thursday. The Wall Street Journal’s latest national poll showed Harris leading Trump by 1 percentage point. The Democratic nominee pulled 48% support in a head-to-head matchup compared to the Republican nominee’s 47% backing. When third-party candidates were included in the survey, Harris’ advantage grew to 2 points, 47% to 45%. Both results were within the poll’s 2.5 percentage point margin for error. The survey’s findings suggest that Trump, 78, would likely emerge victorious in the Electoral College race,

Former President Donald Trump has the edge over Vice President Kamala Harris in a close race for the White House, according to a pair of polls published Thursday. Harris has a more challenging road to the White House than Trump when considering the polls–one from Emerson College/Nexstar Media and another from Fabrizio Ward & Associates– and deeper themes stirring both nationally and in the individual states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. For instance, one essential theme to consider is Trump regularly outperforms the polls: In the post-Democratic National Convention (DNC) August 25-28 Emerson College poll, Trump has a 50 percent to 47 percent lead

In one of the most disgusting press stories I've been privy to, The New York Times published a piece essentially trashing the Gold Star families who invited Donald Trump to Arlington National Cemetery on Monday. As RedState reported, the president appeared at a ceremony honoring the 13 murdered American service members who died during the Abbey Gate Bombing. The devastating event unfolded in August of 2021 amid the Biden-Harris administration's incompetent withdrawal from Afghanistan. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris neither showed up for the ceremony nor gave live statements commemorating the third anniversary of the deaths. Instead, the president vacationed on the beach while Harris continued campaigning.

Ford confirmed the letter was authentic and said it had no additional comment on the matter. Ford’s move follows retailer Tractor Supply , which one of the first major companies to stop its DEI efforts, as it severed

Now that the world's wealthiest magnate may join the other side, though, suddenly it's time for Panic in the Demsco: Elon Musk, the world’s richest person, has hired a Republican operative with expertise in field organizing to help steer his political work, a move that suggests that Mr. Musk

Democrat presidential and vice presidential nominees Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz are set to engage in their first sit-down interview on Thursday with CNN, more than a month after Harris became the presumptive nominee. Here are 31 questions, broken down by larger themes, that CNN’s Dana Bash could and should ask the duo during the joint interview: ECONOMY: 1. Price controls typically result in shortages. Are your price control proposals for groceries not going to just create empty aisles and shelves? 2. Will providing every first-time home buyer with $25,000 cause the prices of homes to soar by a similar amount, rendering such an effort futile?

Savannah, Ga.—Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. The interview with CNN’s Dana Bash will give Harris a chance to quell criticism that she has eschewed uncontrolled environments, while also giving her a fresh platform to define her campaign and test her political mettle ahead of an upcoming debate with former President Donald Trump set for Sept. 10. But it also carries risk as her team tries to build on momentum from the ticket shakeup following Joe Biden’s exit

A Tennessee 10-year-old was expelled from school for a full year after he pointed his finger in the shape of a gun and made mock "machine gun" noises, according to a ProPublica investigation. The boy was expelled as part of a "zero tolerance" law in Tennessee that mandates any student who makes a threat of "mass violence" be expelled for at least one year. While the law, originally signed in 2023—following a shooting by a former student at a private school in Nashville—was recently amended to direct schools to expel students only for "valid" threats, the provisions of the law are still vague, and schools have considerable enforcement leeway.

A conservative-backed push for stricter proof-of-citizenship requirements for voting could complicate efforts to avert a government shutdown next month. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have acknowledged a stopgap of some kind, also known as a continuing resolution (CR), will be necessary to keep the government funded past Sept. 30. But calls are growing among House conservatives to use that must-pass measure to force consideration of a partisan bill aimed at barring noncitizens from voting — laying the groundwork for a clash with the Democratic-led Senate, which would likely reject such a package.
