The Summer Olympic Games scheduled for Los Angeles in 2028 will be car-free with spectators expected to leave their private vehicles behind and only use public transport to access events, mayor Karen Bass decreed Saturday.
Bass addressed the issue of the city’s notorious traffic in her opening remarks at a press conference in Paris on Saturday.
She added Angelenos not traveling to events over the two-week festival of sport will be expected to work remotely to keep freeways clear, citing COVID restrictions as an example of how stay-at-home expectations can be implemented.

Not to worry. After the Paris fiasco, I doubt too many will be attending.

Yeah, no cars to carjack.
Make sure those cameras avoid the stench and squalor and filth. You think the Seine River was bad? Wait'll you smell LA in four years. Ugly and smelly.

Better idea - no Bass games.

Happy to report that the equestrian events will be held in the City of Temecula - 85 miles from LA. Not even in LA County.

With the ultimate goal being to have an Olympics attended by nobody. Next will be virtual competitions via zoom.

By 2028 they may have also eliminated the male and female categories and just offer one all encompassing competition in each sport so that nobody is excluded.

Good luck with all of that, particularly with so many events being spread out with very limited public transportation (don't even think of it being reliable or timely) available.
The equestrian events will be in Temecula which is roughly 100 miles away.

Maybe by 2028, Cali will no longer be a viable state or it will fall into the ocean. At the rate major companies are moving out, there won't be anyone left to pay taxes and support the olympics.

That will be a very long bus ride (like about 1,325 miles) to the softball & Canoe/Kayak Slalom events which will be held in Oklahoma City. Softball will be held at the fabulous home of the NCAA Softball World Series. RIVERSPORT OKC is one of the premier Canoe Slalom and Kayak Cross venues in the United States providing a pumped artificial competition channel, which is now the standard for Olympic Slalom and Kayak Cross events. See you here in 2028.

Yeah, because SoCal public transportation is so great. Good luck with that. And If you were wondering when the LACTMA and SMART unions (representing transit workers) would next go on strike, or threaten a strike,
I’m guessing it will be 2028. I lived in OC during the 1984 Olympics. We drove to the Coliseum for a day of track and field events, and I rode my bike to watch the men’s road race in Mission Viejo. Traffic was actually quite a bit lighter than normal during those two weeks. Somehow people, truckers and other businesses figured out for themselves that they didn’t want to be stuck in traffic, so unless they were going to an event they avoided the affected areas.

Once they know you'll obey, you knew they'd roll this out over and over. Angelenos better say "NO" nice and loud now, or there will be no end to it.

If those 3000 busses aren't all electric, what will she be accomplishing? This is a prime example of the value of DEI.

The athletes should be housed in tents by their events so they can show up on time.
In previous Olympics, the athletes lost out because the buses were late.

Nice try, Bassie. Then, expect lots of empty seats at all of the venues. Just like the French did these past two weeks. And they allowed cars.

I suspect they'll have record non-attendance and will lose money because of negligible ticket sales, as well as extremely poor advertising revenue.
I lived in Pomona (east LA country) in 1984 and attended a day of track and field at the Coliseum, as well as an equestrian event (boring) at the Santa Anita racetrack, and a baseball game at Dodger Stadium.
I no longer live in that area and had no plans to attend in 2028, and after the no cars announcement, even less interest.
After this year's opening ceremonies, they can all go pound sand.

This will be so poorly attended and lose so much money, 2028 may be the last Olympics we see at least in its present format.

Since all the hotels are filled by illegals, Olympians will be housed in tent cities and be given EBT cards for food.
