Your expectations are too high if you thought that getting more details would reveal less blundering by former President Trump's security detail leading to his shooting on Saturday.
U.S. Senators, in a phone briefing by FBI Director Chris Wray and Secret Service chief Kimberly Cheatle, found that Trump's would-be killer, who murdered a man and critically wounded two others, had been under watch by security personnel for more than an hour before he took the lethal shots from a roof outside the hard security perimeter.
A reporter for Punchbowl News also reported that senators told him the assassin had been spotted and in the scopes of snipers

Days after an assassin’s bullet came within an estimated centimeter from killing former (and future) President Donald Trump, let’s revisit a “fact check” from USA Today from earlier this year.
Alex Soros, son of billionaire Marxist Trump hater George Soros tweeted out a picture of a bullet hole and a hand holding $47 in cash, a not so subtle intimation that Trump, the 45th and would be 47th president, should be shot, a post that given this past weekend’s event should give pause. (X) An article in The Gateway Pundit at the time suggested, and common sense would dictate, that the tweet was a threat against Trump.

BALTIMORE - If it weren't for the speedy No. 12, the Baltimore Ravens may not have won their latest Super Bowl championship.
Jacoby Jones, who died suddenly on Sunday at his home in New Orleans, was a star in the postseason during the 2012 season, which ended with a win in Super Bowl XLVII.
Stunned former teammates, current and former NFL players and Maryland leaders are mourning the news that Jones had died just days after his 40th birthday.
My brother, you will truly be missed. They can't take the memories and the hard work you put in on and off the football field. You always gave back

Fans of Tenacious D are "devastated" the band has cancelled the rest of their Australian tour in the wake of a controversial onstage joke about the attempted assassination of former US president Donald Trump.
Ben Parsons and his family travelled more than four hours from Armidale to Newcastle to see Jack Black's comedy rock duo in concert on Tuesday night.
They found out through social media the event had been cancelled.
"We were devastated but my kids were devastated as well," Mr Parsons told ABC NewsRadio.
"[I've] been a fan of Jack Black for a long time, was looking forward to it. [I'm] definitely out of pocket a lot now."

President Joe Biden has been holding a series of calls with the various factions in the House Democratic Caucus, and they’ve not gone well. The call with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus devolved into total mayhem last week. On top of being late to the call, Rep. Mike Levin (D-CA) called on Biden to step aside directly, leading to the call's abruptly ending. No one could ask the president questions. It was very much the controlled, guard-railed, and staged antics that have marked this presidency. It’s all a show, with no real action or governing.
A call with the Congressional Progressive Caucus had this awkward moment.

Democrat mega-donor Reid Hoffman’s top political advisor, Dmitri Mehlhorn, demonstrates the utter depravity of the Left. And it’s not just today’s Left. It goes back to the days of the Revolution. Before I get into that, I must put Mehlhorn front and center.
Donald Trump was shot at 6:11 PM. The shooter continued firing, killing one, and critically wounding two others before he was terminated with extreme prejudice. In the words of the ghost of Hamlet’s father, his act was “Murder most foul.” At 7:34 PM, Mehlhorn sent an email to various journalists.
"Mehlhorn wrote that one 'possibility -- which feels horrific and alien and absurd in America,

There are consequences to virtually every mainstream media, office-holding Democrat and left-wing academic labeling former President Donald Trump a Nazi, a fascist, a white supremacist and a mortal threat to American democracy. One consequence is that more than a few people will want Trump dead -- killed, if necessary; who would not want such an individual dead?
Here is a small number of incendiary comments:
-- The cover story in The New Republic, June 2024, is "American Fascism" -- featuring Trump drawn as Adolf Hitler:
"Today, we at The New Republic think we can spend this election year in one of two ways.

The "ladies" of ABC's "The View" are really taking President Joe Biden's message on Sunday to heart in the wake of the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. Biden urged Americans to “lower the temperature” and to remember "when we disagree, we are not enemies, we are neighbors, we are friends, co-workers, citizens and, most importantly, we are fellow Americans."
The panel was discussing the Trump attempted assassination and specifically the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks. Ana Navarro, the supposed "Republican" on the panel, had this stunning take on what really is the cause behind the assassination attempt.

Former President Donald Trump exemplified a rare level of courage that few people are put in a position to show, on Saturday, moments after being shot by a would-be assassin, as he rose to his feet after wisely hitting the deck after being hit, likely saving his life.
Trump defiantly pumped his fist in the air, multiple times, as he was ushered off the stage stage by Secret Service agents, as if to show the faithful and the world that he not only survived; but more importantly that he was more than ready to continue his campaign to unseat Joe Biden. On Sunday, Trump said in an exclusive interview

Former president Donald Trump has spoken out about the dismissal of the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case against him.
The Republican nominee, who is currently in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the Republican National Convention, sent a lengthy message via his account on Truth Social, sharing his thoughts on the dismissal and the government's continued prosecution against him. Trump's message to his followers was simple: It's time for the multiple cases against him to end and for the country to unite. This is the sort of happy headline you see that makes you spit at your screen in stunned disbelief when you first read it.
REALLY?!
And it's not a joke or a Babylon Bee headline. It comes from no less august and impeccable source than Jake "The Slapper" Tapper. (X) Let's just step back for a second and try to imagine any of the overtly masculine senior staffers in the Biden White House slapping the Schlitz out of anyone. (Snip) Yeah...NO.
None a' dem guys will be slapping - less mind "beating" - anyone anytime soon, if ever, unless they swipe at the wife's Pomeranian with a frustrated fuzzy slipper

Please stop and spare a thought for those on the political left. Bill Maher has affirmed he was appalled by the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump but qualified it by adding others have been metaphorically hurt as well.
He opened his Saturday comedy show by stating, “I unequivocally denounce [the shooting], I don’t care what you think about that. Not funny. I’m sure that there will be jokes that people will make because they hate him so much that they wished it went he other way. Not for me.”
Maher then continued that Trump may be the political winner at the ballot box
