CHICAGO (WLS) -- Dozens of pro-Palestinian protestors walked free Tuesday, after having their charges dropped following their arrests in May.
Now, some local leaders are concerned this sends the wrong message, with the Democratic National Convention just a month away. (Snip) Hopkins said he's working with the Secret Service and Chicago police to prepare for the Democratic National Convention, where many protests are expected. "They need to be prosecuted. If we're not willing to do that, then we as a society are saying we're willing to let protesters do whatever they want, without regard to the damage that they cause," Hopkins said.

(The Center Square) – Several U.S. oil and corn industry lobby groups are suing the Biden Administration over its plans to slash planet-warming tailpipe emissions from cars and trucks.
The coalition argues the regulations will cause economic harm.
Dave Loos, Illinois Corn Growers Association director of Biofuels, says higher octane fuels could be a solution.
The EPA finalized new rules for models of semi-trucks, buses and other heavy-duty vehicles released from 2027 to 2032 in a bid to cut greenhouse gas emissions. Loos said another requirement that up to 56% of all car sales be electric between 2030 and 2032 is unrealistic.

(The Center Square) – Illinois legislators are working to change the term "offender" to "justice impacted individual" in state law, a move Republicans say disrespects victims of violent crime.
House Bill 4409 would add Illinois Department of Corrections representation to the Adult Redeploy Illinois oversight board, but it also changes the word "offender" to "justice-impacted individuals." Republicans on the Senate floor said the name change could cost taxpayers thousands of dollars. (Snip) Republicans said the focus shouldn’t be on what they called the "poor offender," but rather the victims of violent crimes.

(Snip) the purported victims would then file police reports certifying they were victims of a crime, which they then used to submit fraudulent applications to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for U nonimmigrant status. The U-visa is reserved for victims of certain qualifying crimes who have suffered mental or physical abuse and agree to assist law enforcement with the investigation, prosecutors said.

Do the Gen Z pro-Palestine protesters even know what they’re screaming, yelling, and encamping about? Definitely not.
A Columbia University student who rushed down to NYU’s campus in solidarity with protesters there said on camera that she actually had no idea what they were protesting, eventually admitting she needed to be “more educated” on the issue.
I’m sure that’s very much the case with her countless classmates donning keffiyehs and chanting anti-Israel slogans. Forget the three r’s, these Ivy League elitists are schooled in the three i’s: ignorance, indoctrination and Instagram.
International politics are complicated, and yet Gen Z has appointed themselves as experts before even graduating

Parkrun's policy of allowing runners to self-identify their gender could force women out of elite athletics, a former marathon star has warned.
Mara Yamauchi, a former British Olympic runner, said the weekly 5km race (Snip) at amateur level, grassroots, beginner level, females – women and girls – must have fairness. 'If you say that only at professional or elite level do females deserve fairness, but lower down we must be inclusive, that's an appalling message to send to women and girls at those levels. 'That will be very discouraging, demotivating and unfair for them. Some will leave sport altogether and we won't have any elite female athletes in future.'
