Still no sticker shock, Janet? Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen was spotted stocking up on groceries on Saturday — after dismissing a question about inflation and rising food prices earlier this week. Yellen, 77, and her husband, economist George Akerlof, stopped by a Giant Food store in Washington, DC, after grabbing lunch at Japanese restaurant Raku.

Years ago a politician named Lamar Alexander ran for POTUS. He would go into grocery stores and tell prospective voters that it was outrageous what a quart of milk costs. Someone asked him what it costs and he didn't have a clue. It ended his political career. Yellen would be better off going to a beauty parlor to see if they could make her look like something other than one of the witches in Macbeth.

Janet and her husband are wealthy people. What is it that makes her want to be Secretary of the treasury. She is an old lady who does not appear to be too bright in a job she she has no idea what the hell she is doing. Why? Give me their money and I wouldn't be caught dead in a Government Office. Which might happen to her, she is not getting any younger and is already past her expiration date.

I watched Sean Hannity and Charles Payne discuss this remark about grocery prices. Both of them have had hard times earlier in life and Sean kept saying how he still cringes at prices even though he can afford it. That is the case with my husband and I- he now makes enough, so we don't have to worry about prices in grocery stores particularly, but we still do and are also trying to make sure we have enough money for a good retirement. My father died when I was 13, and the govt didn't start sending SS checks nor my dad's pension payments for a few months. I had to do the taxes because my mom got into a situational depression. And even military officer pay did not go far in CA with 3 kids in the 90s. My husband grew up in a working class family with his father working 2 jobs. Yellen and many other Dems have never had these experiences. They are the wealthy elites who were very comfortable from the get go. Yellen has $40 million.

I'm pretty sure that she usually gets her groceries delivered....along with a dozen cupcakes from Baked & Wired. Her reusable bags look crisp & brand new. The rest of us have crumpled bags stashed some where in the back of the car. Anyway, I'm surprised that DC Giant had any products on the shelves....unless they were under lock and key.

President Biden told a gathering of nearly two dozen Democratic governors at the White House Wednesday night that he needs to get more sleep and work fewer hours — and even avoid events held after 8 p.m. — despite indications he can only handle the rigors of the job between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Biden’s acknowledgment was reported by the New York Times, citing two people who took part in the high-stakes meeting and others who were briefed on the comment.

Octogenarian President Biden has difficulty functioning outside a six-hour window of daylight, according to an alarming new report. The 81-year-old commander in chief is prone to absent-minded gaffes and fatigue outside of the hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or while traveling abroad, White House aides told Axios in a bizarre attempt to spin his disastrous debate performance. During the 90-minute trainwreck of a presidential debate — which kicked off five hours after the president’s peak performance window, at 9 p.m. — Biden often appeared vacant or slack-jawed, and on several occasions froze mid-thought, misspoke, or struggled to form coherent sentences.

A bill that would create a pathway for undocumented children to access state-funded health insurance was approved by the Virginia Senate along partisan lines Tuesday. The bill, if approved by the Democratic-controlled House of Delegates and signed off on by Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin, would provide health care coverage for Virginia residents under age 19 who are not covered under a group health plan or health insurance coverage, and would, if not for their immigration status, be eligible for medical assistance services through the commonwealth's program of medical assistance services. The Virginia chapter of CASA, a national immigrant advocacy group, championed the bill.

Sen. Jeremy McPike (D) and the Prince William County police chief are pushing legislation that would allow ‘Dreamers’ to become law enforcement officers in Virginia. Current law allows only United States citizens to qualify for these positions, which include chief of police, police officer, deputy sheriff and jail officer. “Dreamers,” the federal government’s designation for people who were approved under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, are those who arrived in the U.S. before the age of 16 and who have lived here since June 15, 2007. The designation does not include anyone who was older than 30 when the Department of Homeland Security enacted the policy in 2012.

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden's conduct behind closed doors, in the Oval Office, on Air Force One and in meetings around the world is described in the same dual way by those who regularly see him in action. He is often sharp and focused. But he also has moments, particularly later in the evening, when his thoughts seem jumbled and he trails off mid-sentence or seems confused. Sometimes he doesn't grasp the finer points of policy details. He occasionally forgets people's names, stares blankly and moves slowly around the room. Democrats have a ready-made replacement if Joe Biden stands aside before November's election. She's been vetted. Her election would be historic. And she would easily take up the Biden mantle. There's one problem: Her name is Kamala Harris and by every measure she is the most unpopular vice president in American history – and among the least likely people to defeat Donald Trump in a general election fight. But Democrats may be stuck with her anyway. Former Democratic National Committee chairwoman Donna Brazile explained the party's challenge most succinctly.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is continuing her quest to raise taxes. She is now trying to convince the moderate Democrats and those who are against tax hikes to pass the progressives' tax hikes. For years, we have heard Democrat politicians criticize corporations that employ millions of people for not paying higher taxes. That may sound like a great idea — if it were realistic. Corporations will never pay their "fair share" in taxes. If Congress ultimately decides to raise the corporate tax, that will be a tax on the consumers because those corporations will raise prices to cover their costs and offset what they would be paying in taxes.
