Supreme Court Rules Accused Domestic Abusers
Can Be Legally Barred from Possessing Guns

Original Article

The Supreme Court on Friday upheld a federal statute that bans gun possession by individuals who are subject to a domestic violence-related restraining order. The 8-1 decision in United States v. Rahimi, in which only Justice Clarence Thomas dissented, reverses a previous Fifth Circuit ruling on the matter. “Since the founding, our Nation’s firearm laws have included provisions preventing individuals who threaten physical harm to others from misusing firearms,” writes Chief Justice John Roberts, adding that the federal statute at hand “fits comfortably within this tradition.”

That’s an interesting decision. Now Pandora’s box is open to other special exceptions to the Second Amendment. What new special exception will be next?

There is one more gun case before the Supreme Court —— National Rifle Association v. Vullo. An NRA victory in that one complicates the democrat socialist party plan to do a financial crackdown on the gun industry.

oh-oh A red flag warning about threatened red flag laws. Abused people need protection as best as possible as we have seen far too often in the news, but being accused is often badly abused by a partner in a nasty separation/divorce and used vindictively. We also know that some recent cases of deadly abuse have involved an array of "weapons" ...including hands. I wonder how difficult it will be for the exonerated person to retrieve his OR HER firearms?

Red flag laws only require someone's accusation that you are dangerous. Ex's, neighbors, etc can call the cops and have your guns take. They'll tell you you can get them back after a hearing. Yeah. Right. If a Dom violence conviction is a felony you lose your guns anyway. If it isn't, keep your paws off.

Doesn't that make Domestic Abuse equate with Federal Felony, instead of just State? That was nothing but a stupid emotional decision coming from the High Court. They will have to reverse themselves on this one once the Wait till our Pandering Congress begins sucking all State crimes under this idiotic ruling. - What other State Felonies are going to be included under this "Big Tent" using that precedent? - Do you have a DUI on your record? You can't own a gun. - Are you a "Deadbeat Dads" with "Failure to Pay Alimony and/or Child Support" crimes in your background? No guns for you! - What about the female Domestic Abusers? Will they have their Guns revoked too? And what about ...?" --Is this ruling retroactive? Will the ATF/FBI start to digging through their illegal Gun Sales database to find convicted Domestic Abusers and conducting SWAT raids on their homes to confiscate their guns? In NO WAY do I think Domestic Abuse is acceptable in our society, but removing a person's Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms isn't worth hanging around with the wrong woman. As a result of this, marriage rates will drop even more, and the, "Papa was a rollin' stone," culture will spread even further.

Yesterday in Los Angeles, hordes of pro-Hamas protestors, many of them masked, descended upon one of the most Jewish neighborhoods in America and attacked a synagogue. In the ensuing battle, many Jews were bloodied. The LAPD was conspicuously absent both before and during the attack. Today, a Jewish Democrat in Los Angeles wonders what happened. If he were wise, he’d realize that the Republican party is the answer. Sadly, I’m betting he’ll still vote for Joe. Monica Showalter has written about the terrorism in Los Angeles, so I don’t need to repeat that here. What I want to focus on is one Jew’s slowly dawning realization

WASHINGTON — WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange plans to plead guilty to a conspiracy charge this week as part of a plea deal with the U.S. Justice Department that will allow him to go free after spending five years in a British prison, according to court documents. Assange was charged by criminal information — which typically signifies a plea deal — with conspiracy to obtain and disclose national defense information, the court documents say. A letter from Justice Department official Matthew McKenzie to U.S. District Judge Ramona Manglona of the U.S. District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands said that Assange would appear in court

A violent protest outside a Los Angeles synagogue sparked condemnation from President Biden and others Monday and prompted new debate over what some consider escalating behavior during demonstrations over the war in Gaza. The protest began Sunday afternoon at the Adas Torah synagogue in the heavily Jewish Pico-Robertson neighborhood but eventually spilled into nearby areas over several hours with fights breaking out between pro-Palestinian demonstrators protesting a real estate event and supporters of Israel. Law enforcement sources said more than 150 people converged on the temple on West Pico Boulevard, and it took time for the Los Angeles Police Department to get enough personnel to the scene. Joe Biden’s campaign planned to bury Donald Trump in an avalanche of cash. Instead, his allies are bracing for a slugfest without the benefit of a fatter wallet, as financial reports showed Trump outraising Biden in back-to-back months, hauling in huge sums after his 34 felony convictions and erasing Biden’s longstanding financial edge. Democrats in recent days largely downplayed Trump’s new financial lead in the same way Trump’s allies had when Biden was running ahead in the money race — saying the president would have enough money to compete. But privately, several Democratic strategists and donors were reeling.

Environmental/Social/Governance (ESG) investing is one of the most repellent fads of recent years. Happily, the Telegraph reports that a decisive turning point may have been reached: “How the ‘woke capitalist’ gravy train came to a juddering halt.” First, some history: While the acronym only rose to prominence in the City in the last five years, ESG has been around for far longer. The term was first coined in 2005 in a UN report called “Who Cares Wins”, which argued that companies where bosses behaved ethically would deliver better returns for shareholders. That could be true, although I can’t imagine how you could demonstrate it empirically.

Those close to the former first lady believe she will likely split her time between Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, and New York City – especially with Barron, 18, tipped to attend New York University. Melania would instead only travel to Washington, D.C. for ceremonial responsibilities like state dinners and other special events. The decision not to live with in Washington is an unprecedented move for a first lady and a break in two-and-a-half centuries of tradition.

It seems everything in politics is “the end of democracy.” Luntz claimed that personal invectives and insults are too debasing and, apparently, a sign of the end of democracy.
