Senior judges in Florida approached Trump-appointed Judge Aileen Cannon last year to ask her to step back from his Mar-a-Lago classified documents case – but she steadfastly refused, according to a shocking new report.
Cannon has been the source of fury and puzzlement among Trump critics after she issued rulings in the case that got overturned and failed to get it on track for trial before the November elections.
Trump was indicted in June 2023 and charged with illegally retaining national security documents at his Florida club. Not long after the fact, two senior federal judges asked Cannon, who had been assigned the case, to step back, the New York Times reported Thursday,

The world's largest airline pilot union suggested airmen and women stop using terms purportedly offensive to women and LGBTQ individuals, calling out terms like "cockpit" as non-inclusive.
Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l, represents over 70,000 pilots worldwide and states that it collaborates with a United Nations agency on its policies. According to a diversity, equity and inclusion language guide released in 2021, the ALPA lists numerous terms and phrases to avoid — especially "masculine generalizations" — that it deemed to be non-inclusive. (snip) Similarly, ALPA's guide called for the words "man" and "men" to be avoided. (snip) ALPA advised against using "mother/father."

As the death toll rises, debate is raging over whether bad organization, weather or gate-crashing pilgrims are to blame for more than 1,000 reported deaths in Saudi Arabia during the annual Hajj religious gathering. Arabic-language social media has been flooded this week with shocking images from Saudi Arabia. The pictures and videos show people who were undertaking their once-in-a-lifetime Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca collapsed on the side of the road or slumped in wheelchairs, apparently close to death or dead. They are dressed in traditional pilgrim's white, their faces covered with cloths.

A new report found that President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is labeling Trump supporters, and military and religious people as potential “terror threats” to the United States. According to documents obtained by American First Legal (AFL), the DHS board called “Homeland Intelligence Experts Group,” revealed that the Biden Administration views “a person likely to commit “domestic violent extremist” attacks with those who support former President Donald Trump, are “in the military,” or are “religious.”

Former U.S. attorney Joyce Vance in a Friday podcast episode accused former President Donald Trump of “abusing the system” by using his rights as a defendant to legally delay his cases.
Trump has successfully delayed the cases he faces as a defendant, making it so some are unlikely to occur before the upcoming presidential election. Vance on “Defending Democracy” criticized Trump while praising Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and special counsel Jack Smith for their efforts to accelerate the cases against the former president and hold his “feet to the fire.” “I mean, it’s tough, right? It is a balancing act,” Vance said.

Last month, the International Criminal Court (ICC) announced it was seeking arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, as well as Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. Such a move, from a body with serious legitimacy and enforcement concerns, looks to equate the victim and the perpetrator of the October 7 attack that Hamas committed against our ally in the Middle East. Earlier this month the House passed a bill to sanction the ICC, with even some Democrats joining. Other Democrats however, would rather do the ICC's bidding, especially Rep. Mark Pocan of Wisconsin, who reminded "I am available" to do so.

Military personnel could find laboratory grown meat in their ration packs as Pentagon bosses scratch around for ways to reduce their impact on climate change.
Bioengineering company BioMADE came up with the idea after receiving $500 million in Defense department funding to reduce its carbon footprint.
But their plan to roll out 'cell based meat' has left a nasty taste in the mouth of veterans who have accused Pentagon bosses of treating front line soldiers like 'lab rats'.

As some Catholics know, Archbishop Viganò is a hero in the eyes of many who do not enjoy the spectacle of Pope Francis’ continual and seemingly ongoing reversal of Catholic teaching and law. The hyperpolitical, leftist Pope has been, by his own words, engaged in irreversibly (he hopes) and increasingly modifying (according to his own predilections) the Catholic Church since he took papal office. Sound like anybody you know? Viganò has been consistently faithful to Canon Law and to the established teachings of the Church, [Snip] Actually, if there has been, or might be, any schism, it could sooner be laid at the door of Pope Francis himself.

Former President Donald Trump’s new proposal to exclude tips from federal taxes is getting strong reviews from some Republican lawmakers, though major questions remain about the impact of the policy and how it would work.
What’s certain is that a change in the taxation of tips would affect millions. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates there are 2.24 million waiters and waitresses across the country, with tips making up a large percentage of their income.
A look at what Trump’s proposing and the possible political and economic ramifications:

President Trump has focused his 2024 campaign on a number of issues that one would expect, but he shook up the game this summer by issuing a new policy proposal: “No Tax On Tips.”
While his campaign hasn’t released the usual detailed policy papers on it yet, the president made it clear what he means: “restaurant workers, hospitality workers, and anybody else who gets tips.”
The Left responded immediately with what they see as the downside: by reducing federal taxes on tips, federal revenues would drop by a huge amount of money, or at least, by an amount of money that sounds huge.

A Democrat political strategist is confirming what many believe is the biggest problem with Joe Biden's re-election campaign: Joe Biden.
The president - a week ahead of the surprise first debate against Donald Trump - continues to struggle in the polls, often trailing nationally and in key swing states.
What's worse for Biden is that the Democrat Senators defending their seats this November are running ahead of Biden and even handily leading their Republican opponent. However, in the same polls, the consistently gaffe-prone Biden is either barely leading or outright trailing his long-time rival.
