Republican Georgia Rep. Mike Collins claimed Sunday afternoon that one of his staffers was robbed at gunpoint in Washington, D.C.
Collins took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and claimed a staffer on his team and a friend were allegedly robbed at gunpoint early Sunday by three men in the southeast neighborhood of Navy Yard. While the staffer and other individuals were not identified by Collins, the Republican congressman claimed one attacker had taken a watch while another was punched by one of the victims. “Our nation’s capital has become a warzone because of pro-criminal policies peddled by D.C.’s government. Thank the good Lord, after fending off the assailants,

Former President Donald Trump is scheduled for a virtual probation interview on Monday after a New York jury found him guilty of all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in his 'hush money' trial.
The former president will participate in the hearing from his home at Mar-a-Lago, according to the report, citing 'three sources familiar' with the matter. The probation interview is a normal process for Trump's pre-sentencing report.
The interview is the next step in the sentencing process as Judge Juan Merchan is scheduled to sentence the former president on July 11, just days before the Republican National convention begins in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The rapacious Democrats in California are at it again, dreaming up a new tax, this time one that would see car owners charged for every mile they drive.
The scheme to grab even more money from the state’s beleaguered citizenry is not just being “debated,” either. There is already a pilot program in motion, called the 2024 Road Charge Collection Pilot, where car owners install a device into their vehicle that tracks their driving and tallies up a tax on them.
The new way of collecting road taxes will reportedly replace the state’s exorbitant gas taxes. At 51 cents per gallon,

Car manufacturer Stellantis is recalling more than 200,000 SUVs and pickup trucks due to a software malfunction that may cause a vehicle's electronic stability control systems to fail.
The company is claiming the problem is caused by a defective anti-lock braking system, which is sometimes deactivating the stability control system.
The impacted models are the 2022 Dodge Durango, and the 2022 Ram 2500 and 3500.
The Ram 2500 is the model with by far the most vehicles impacted. Nearly 158,000 of the 2500 pickups will be recalled, while just over 500 Ram 3500s are affected.
Around 53,000 Durangos will be recalled.

During Sunday’s broadcast of New York City radio WABC’s “The Cat’s Roundtable,” long-time Democrat political strategist James Carville admitted remorse for President Joe Biden’s decision to run for re-election in 2024.
Carville told WABC host John Catsimatidis there was a deep bench if Biden should be forced out but acknowledged he thought the incumbent president should have considered sitting this one out.
“And tell me, we both talked over breakfast that, if anything — if President Biden decides not to run or is ill and can’t run, where does the Democratic Party go?”

Governor Kristi Noem (R-SD) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that former President Donald Trump’s guilty verdict by a Manhattan jury on 34 counts of falsifying business records was because of a “rigged judicial process.”
Noem said, “Well, his message has clearly been that his only vengeance will be America’s success. He is not interested in going after political opponents. He is interested in going back to the White House and working for the American people and their families, bringing down inflation costs and that’s what I’m hearing overwhelmingly here in Wisconsin.”

Former and potentially future President Donald Trump is performing quite well with his fellow Republicans and also looks to be winning over Independents for the November election. President Joe Biden's reelection campaign hasn't given up on trying to appeal to anti-Trump Republicans, though, as they've now hired former Rep. Adam Kinzinger's (R-IL) chief of staff, Austin Weatherford to lead Republican outreach. As CNN reported last Thursday, also mentioning some other names [Emphasis added]:

The Las Vegas Police Protective Association (LVPPA) has officially endorsed former President Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential election.
The endorsement was announced by LVPPA President Steven Grammas just hours before Trump was set to address a massive crowd of supporters.
The rally, which took place in Sunset Park, Las Vegas, saw thousands of attendees lining up as early as 6 am, demonstrating unwavering support for the former president.
This event marks President Trump’s first public rally since his controversial conviction in the politically motivated sham trial in New York.
