Hollywood star Richard Dreyfuss is being accused of making sexist and homophobic comments while attending a screening of Jaws at a theater in Massachusetts on Saturday. (snip) Some attendees, though, were irked when the film’s star reportedly began pontificating about inclusivity rules at the Academy Awards, offered criticism of transgenderism, and took some shots at left-wing actress and singer Barbara Streisand. (snip) The theater rushed to apologize for the actor’s rant, saying in a statement, “We are aware of, and share serious concerns,” and added, “The views expressed by Mr. Dreyfuss do not reflect the values of inclusivity and respect that we uphold as an organization.”

If he upset the left, what he said must be true. He must be mellowing with age. Incidentally, I think he was terrific in Jaws.

The current kerfuffle aside, FTA: 'As far back as 2006 he launched The Dreyfuss Civics Initiative to promote civics education from the fourth grade, and has called the failure to teach the U.S. Constitution, “suicidal.” And I thought that Robert Shaw was the real man in 'Jaws' This took courage! Hollyweirdos drop you like a rock if you step off the plantation.

I formulated a theory during the Harrison Butker "controversy," which is that the more sensible, All-American the "remarks" are, the fewer of them will be quoted in "news" stories about the "blowback," or whatever other incendiary term is applied. The stories will be about the outrage from the Usual Snowflakes, not any truly offensive comments, because to the majority of readers, there aren't any such. The libs aren't so out of touch as to not recognize that what "offends" Hollywood will invigorate Flyover Country. Notice that of Dreyfuss's words are quoted in this story.

What EXACTLY did he say? I know I am asking a lot of today's media but normally when reporting what someone said especially if it is considered controversial you actually QUOTE the person.

Richard Dreyfuss is an odd duck. He is a democrat through and through, but still has common sense and actually loves and respects his country, as it was founded. More like a JFK democrat. A lot of union people are like that, as well. They vote democrat because that’s what they’re supposed to do. But, Mr. Dreyfus’s wrote a very touching and respectful eulogy of Charleton Heston when he died, even though he vehemently disagreed with him politically. I guess he had met him and worked with him.

so what!! he has an opinion and doesn't care who likes it or doesn't like it but as Anne Elk would say "this is my theory - all Brontosauruses are thin at one end, much, much larger in the middle and thin on the other end, this is my theory, it is mine" and Richard Dreyfuss should be praised for having the courage to make a statement that he most likely knew would draw a whole lot of criticism but he did it and said it anyway
