The repeal removed the churchâs rule that expressly forbade âself-avowed practicing homosexualsâ from becoming ordained or appointed as ministers, The AP reported. The vote also reportedly repealed a ban on same-sex marriages, allowing clergymen to perform LGBTQ wedding ceremonies without repercussions.
