It’s unlikely that many Americans sat down with a second cup of coffee and listened to last Tuesday’s oral arguments before the Supreme Court in Fischer v. United States. Nonetheless, it was an edifying tutorial on how the Department of Justice abused a federal law in order to charge J6 rioters with a serious felony. The statute is part of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, passed in 2022 to prevent corporations from tampering with evidence to obstruct congressional inquiries or other official proceedings. For 19 years, the law was used only for that purpose. Then, in 2021, the DOJ redefined “official proceedings.”

But…how do they get their lives back? Hopefully under Trump their jailers, who literally and figuratively tortured them must pay the price, beginning with Garland and Wray. Then, they must be compensated, hopefully with funds Biden intended for college loan foregivenes. Trump needs to spell out how he will help these poor people and their families who endured this

No.
Chief Justice Judas Roberts will twist and and turn himself into a pretzel knot to declare January 6,2021 a tax and therefore anyone near the Capitol will be guilty of the most heinous of crimes...

5-4 in favor of the protesters. Roberts will vote with his liberal DC cocktail party buddies.
IMHO.

Any questions should always fall down in favor of the defendants. Look what the government has done with RICO statutes, civil asset forfeiture, and the patriot act. They will abuse any and every power they are given, and the citizens lose.

Don't forget how Roberts contorted the law to support Obamacare.

Get on with it. There is nothing legal about the jailing of innocent people who did nothing except conduct a peaceful protest. This is not the Soviet Union, yet. Captain Michael Leroy Byrd, we want your incompetent carcass.

Remembering Nancy Pelosi destroying President Trump's speech--live on tv and during the State of the Union Speech. Shouldn't she be charged with something?? I don't care if it sticks, she should be charged.

I hope this is will happen, but given the insanity, and total lack of justice these days, I am very worried that it will not happen.

If a person can be sent to prison for 20 years based on a poorly worded catch-all in the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, intended for corporate investigation, then you have no First Amendment rights to protest or petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Even this court should be able to get this one right.

We need to stop using such generic terms like DOJ, when it's the Democrat-run DOJ, or today's Democrat-run DOJ.
Clarify who is doing this and stop allowing people to justify or rationalized it's some entity when it's the political party running that entity who is currently handing out such "sentences" and abusing the judicial system.
No wonder many minorities in inner-cities have complained about the judicial system being stacked against them.
Trump should declare, "I truly feel your pain and understand what you've been saying for many years".

5-4 Shirts vs Skirts. The racist, sexist, the liar, the so stupid she doesn't even know she's a woman and Trumps greatest failure vote t save their gender kindred spirit Solicitor General's pride intact. The Supreme Joke is just as tribal as the rest of the nation, the law of the land be danged!
