One of the tricks of knowing when a leftist judge is pulling a fast one is if the decision is really, really long. (snip) Indeed, generally speaking, in my thirty-five years as an attorney, I’ve never seen an appellate court uphold damages so disproportionate to actual injuries suffered—and again, there were no injuries in this case. The fact that there were no injuries in itself means that the case, from ig to zack, denied Trump due process.
I don’t see the judgment surviving an appeal, that’s for sure. (snip) And so, I think that this latest assault on Trump, rather than filling people with revulsion, will bring many around.

The Central Intelligence Agency manipulated intelligence information to make it look like Russia wanted Donald Trump to win the 2016 presidential election despite having more credible information showing that Russia wanted Hillary Clinton to win, according to a new report.
The effort to manipulate the information was headed up by John Brennan, Obama’s CIA director, who disregarded evidence that the Russians preferred Clinton because she was more predictable and highlighted questionable evidence claiming Russia favored Trump, sources told independent journalists Matt Taibbi, Michael Shellenberger, and Alex Gutentag.

The Biden administration’s Justice Department filed a lawsuit Thursday against Tennessee’s aggravated prostitution law for people with HIV.
The law, which imposes tougher penalties for engaging in prostitution while knowingly infected with HIV, violates the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Justice Department claims in its lawsuit.
The department said Tennessee’s law elevates the crime simply “because the individual has HIV, regardless of any actual risk of harm.”

Robin DiAngelo, the woke white author of White Fragility, has called Michelangelo’s painting of the creation of man in the Sistine Chapel an icon of “white supremacy.” (snip) “The single image I use to capture the concept of white supremacy is Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel God creating man,” she said, “you know, where God is in a cloud and there’s all these angels and he’s reaching out and he’s touching — I don’t know who that is, David or something — and God is white and David’s white and the angels are white.”
“That is the perfect convergence of white supremacy, patriarchy, right?” she added.

Special prosecutor Nathan Wade admitted Thursday that he only has one receipt demonstrating Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis paid for any of their travel together. (snip) “So this roughly sharing trouble, you’re saying she reimbursed you?” Merchant asked.
“She did,” he said.
“And where did you deposit the money she reimbursed you?” she asked.
“It was cash. She didn’t give me any checks,” he said. Wade continued to state that the only documentary proof he had demonstrating Willis paid for any part of their travel was the receipt included with his affidavit.

The sole migrant who had been held behind bars for the gang attack on two NYPD cops in Times Square is now also free after an activist Brooklyn priest posted his $15,000 bail, The Post has learned.
Yohenry Brito, 24, who was being held at Rikers Island on the Jan. 27 cop attack and is due to be arraigned on an assault indictment this week, walked out of jail Tuesday after Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bay Ridge put up the money, the church’s pastor said.
“Our church is basically a sanctuary,” the Rev. Juan Ruiz told The Post on Wednesday. “We assume that people are innocent until they are proven otherwise.”

A critical examination of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) training programs suggests they often make racism in the workplace worse, according to a report by David Haskell, an associate professor of digital media and journalism at Wilfrid Laurier University. In “What DEI research concludes about diversity training: It is divisive, counter-productive and unnecessary” — written for the Aristotle Foundation for Public Policy — Haskell argues DEI training, widely used by corporations, educational institutions and government agencies, is doing more harm than good when it comes to countering racism.

Hollywood Biden cheerleader Rob Reiner is once again pushing the left’s “Christian nationalism” boogeyman, saying conservative Christians who are politically active are “antithetical to the teachings of Jesus.”
Rob Reiner — who remains one of President Joe Biden’s biggest Hollywood fundraisers — spoke to Newsweek to promote the upcoming documentary God & Country, which Reiner produced.
“This movement that they have here seems completely antithetical to the teachings of Jesus,” Reiner said.
“Jesus was about peace and love and helping thy neighbor and those less fortunate than ourselves. And I thought that was something that we should all aspire to. So to me this movement is going totally opposite the teachings of Jesus.”

Democratic lawmakers in Colorado have introduced legislation that would allow non-residents to access medically assisted suicide. (snip) The bill's sponsor in the state Senate, Democratic Sen. Joann Ginal, has objected to the use of the term "suicide" in association with the bill, however. (snip) In addition to allowing out-of-state access, the bill would allow advanced practice registered nurses to prescribe medication for assisted suicide, rather than just physicians. In its current form, the bill also reduces the mandatory waiting period for administering assisted suicide from 15 days to just 48 hours. (snip) The Colorado Catholic Conference condemned the bill for promoting a "culture of death"

"Miley Cyrus once said 'I am moving if Trump is my president. I don't say things I don't mean.' "

Iowa GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley and Wisconsin GOP Sen. Ron Johnson on Monday asked that Attorney General Merrick Garland account for special counsel Robert Hur's report on President Joe Biden's handling of classified materials making no mention of a batch of materials the National Archives recovered from the president's attorney's office in Boston. (snip)
"Oddly, Special Counsel Hur’s report did not mention NARA's retrieval of the nine boxes from Mr. Moore's office," the pair wrote. (snip) The Republicans set a deadline of Feb. 23 for the DOJ to answer whether Hur reviewed the nine boxes in question and to document their contents.

A new study finds that human-caused carbon dioxide emissions are driving increased plant growth that’s greening the Earth, even in areas experiencing drought.
The peer-reviewed study, which was published in the scientific journal Global Ecology and Conservation, finds that the phenomenon known as “global greening” is an indisputable fact. The rate of global greening has increased slightly, and drought has only slowed, but not stopped, the process.
The study, which was done by Chinese and Australian researchers, attributes the greening to carbon dioxide fertilization as well as land management, such as irrigation.
