FBI investigators discovered powdered cocaine on the firearm pouch Hunter Biden had used to hold the gun he allegedly purchased in October 2018, Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutors said in a Tuesday court filing. Special counsel David Weiss’ team filed a response motion to Hunter Biden’s selective prosecution claim and described how FBI investigators retrieved the alleged firearm in 2023 and found the alleged cocaine. (snip) “These episodes of persistent drug usage, documented by the defendant, in the immediate time frame before, during, and after his possession of the gun were evidence that he lied during the background check and unlawfully possessed the gun in October 2018,” the motion states.

Venezuelan Dictator Nicolas Maduro picked an accused criminal who was recently freed by the Biden administration for a senior cabinet position in the regime, Bloomberg reported.
Alex Saab was previously arrested and extradited to the U.S. in 2021 on bribery and corruption charges, but was released in December 2023 as part of a prisoner swap deal between the Biden administration and Venezuela. Maduro has now chosen Saab to head up his regime’s international investment center, according to Bloomberg. Saab, a businessman, (snip) was charged with money laundering in a scheme of embezzling roughly $350 million out of Venezuela, according to the Department of Justice.

Coretta Scott King, the wife of Martin Luther King, Jr., once helped successfully quash legislation from Republicans and Democrats in the early 1990s that would have eliminated fines for United States employers hiring illegal aliens over Americans. (snip) When Scott King got wind of Hatch’s legislation, she authored a letter with other Civil Rights leaders detailing how illegal immigration diminishes wages, living standards, quality of life, and employment opportunities for America’s working class and, specifically, black Americans who are most likely to compete against illegal aliens for jobs.

Pope Francis said this week he believes in hell but likes to think of it as “empty” because of God’s great mercy.
“What I will say is not a dogma of faith but something personal,” the pontiff said Sunday evening on the Italian television program Che Tempo Che Fa.
“I like to think of hell as empty; I hope it is,” he told the show’s host, Fabio Fazio.

In March 2018, for instance, the Italian daily La Repubblica reported that the pope had told his longtime friend, Eugenio Scalfari, founder of the newspaper, that he does not believe hell exists.

Republican Gov. Brian Kemp (GA) opposes launching a criminal probe into Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, instead preferring an oversight committee investigation that would slow-walk accountability, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) exclusively told Breitbart News.
Kemp and Georgia Attorney General Christopher Carr are seeking to use the state’s oversight committee to investigate Willis for her alleged improper relationship with a top prosecutor in their case against former President Donald Trump, according to Greene.
The committee operates like a disciplinary commission with the power to remove county prosecutors from public office.

Over the past week, we’ve published reams about the allegations against Fulton County, Ga., District Attorney Fani Willis, who has decided to try to make herself famous by targeting former president Donald Trump with questionable charges.
According to a motion filed by an attorney representing one of the co-defendants in the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) charges against Trump and over a dozen other defendants, Willis hired Nathan Wade as a special counsel while she was allegedly carrying on an extramarital affair with him.
What makes Willis’ hiring of her alleged sneaky link Wade so egregious is that he has no experience prosecuting corruption cases.

Fani Willis, the Georgia prosecutor trying to bring Donald Trump down through a RICO case, has been silent on charges that she hired her lover as the special prosecutor in the case. (snip) Willis has refused to address the allegations directly but came as close as possible today in a sermon at church. And her response?
She is imperfect, and you are racist for noticing. (snip) "You cannot expect Black women to be perfect and save the world," Willis said. "We need to be allowed to stumble. We need grace."
"We are all flawed, sinners, unworthy, imperfect, damaged...But we are qualified upon His calling," she continued before concluding her remarks.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis on Sunday slammed Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene as being "filled with hate," after the Georgia Republican congresswoman called for the Georgia state attorney general to investigate allegations that Willis had an improper relationship with the special prosecutor hired to go after former President Donald Trump.
"Dear God, I don't want to be like those who attack me. I never want to be a Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has never met me but has allowed her spirit to be filled with hate," Willis told the congregation of Atlanta's Big Bethel AME church on Sunday.

Just three days after Georgia prosecutors indicted Donald Trump last summer, one of the lead prosecutors on the case faced some legal trouble of his own.
The prosecutor, Nathan Wade, was held in contempt for defying a court order in an acrimonious divorce proceeding with his wife. Wade, a judge in Cobb County, Ga., ruled, had “willfully” failed to turn over documents about his income — including, his wife later said, income from his work on the Trump case. (snip) Wade is himself a divorce lawyer — the website for his Atlanta law firm touts “decades of experience” handling divorce cases. He has little experience running complex, high-profile criminal prosecutions,

A record low percentage of Americans identified as Democrats in 2023 ahead of a contentious presidential election year, according to a Friday poll.
Only 27% of Americans self-identify as Democrats, reaching the smallest figure for the party in Gallup’s recorded history, according to the survey. Republicans received the same amount of support, though it didn’t represent the GOP’s lowest figure, and 43% of Americans identified as independents.

Shortly after taking office in 2021, President Joe Biden reversed President Donald Trump's designation of the Iran-backed Yemeni Houthis as a terror group.
In so doing, Biden spoke about the need to deal with the humanitarian disaster in Yemen at the time. The Trump administration believed that the Houthis had used violent campaigns to destabilize the region. The Houthis took over the Yemeni capital Sana'a in 2014 along with much of the northwestern region of the country. The US and UK conducted joint operations to bomb Houthi infrastructure in Sana'a on Thursday.
