The Washington Post Is in Full-Scale Collapse

Original Article

Posted By: Dreadnought, 1/6/2024 1:22:44 AM

Is The Washington Post in full-scale collapse? A recent look at the numbers provides a fairly convincing answer to that question. According to the report, not only is the Post losing $100 million a year, but it lost over half of its online engagement by the end of 2023. The signs were already there by mid-year, and the worst has come to pass. Having a billionaire sugar daddy has helped mask some of the issues plaguing the Post, but the tide can only be held back so long. To lose over 50 percent of its online viewership is catastrophic for an outlet with such high overhead

Irony abounds: the Post is read by swampers who regard it as their little gossip rag - but they get free copies or rely on government subscriptions ie they don't pay themselves. Like any interior state local paper, they've managed to fail in spectacular and expensive fashion at the very thing they claim expertise in: journalism. Let's say 20 people know the details of Story A. When they read coverage of Story A they see how wrong the reporter got it. And say 30 people know the details of Story B, which is published with an equal number of errors. Now multiply all the stories, all the readers, all the errors and you see how shockingly poor media do their jobs - a situation that has existed for decades. Back then no alternatives were available. Now the alternatives are a) quicker b) cheaper or free c) more accurate and d) lack bias or a clear agenda, often one that results from payola, corruption, political favoritism etc. A good example is the Claudine Gay fiasco. While they attack the people who reported her plagiarism, it should be noted that a) they were correct b) they got results and c) the Wash Post and other 'mainsteam' outlets would have never reported on it to protect her and to promote the idea that elite institutions produce special, entitled people. Now...will an audit at the Wash Post reveal that Gene Robinson has been copying and pasting the same 'the GOP are evil racists' column for 25 years? He should be the first sacking in a cost reduction scheme.

Yikes: Biden Campaign Calls Reporters

The Biden team has spread this pleasant fiction about why Joe Biden is doing so badly in the polls in approval and against the leading Republican candidate, former President Donald Trump. The first part of the fiction is insulting and paints Americans as ignorant — they just don't understand how great Biden is and how much he has done, they say. The second part of that is that it's just the "messaging." They just need to work on that. So here comes the Biden campaign in a transparently bad effort to tell the media what they should be saying about the race and deliver the talking points for them.

CNN has come out with its first electoral map of the campaign season and the "Road to 270." The map is based on polling and other factors they detailed. And it is that path to 270 that we attempt to explore here. We base this current outlook on public and private polling, conversations with campaign advisers, Republican and Democratic political operatives, members of Congress, and political professionals involved with outside groups poised to be active in the race. First, let's start by saying how hilarious it is that they spent multiple paragraphs downplaying the map before they even started talking about it. Here's a small

A record low percentage of Americans are satisfied with the “way democracy is working” during Joe Biden’s presidency, a Gallup poll found. Only 28 percent of adults living in the United States — a constitutional republic — are satisfied with the state of democracy, down from 35 percent when Gallup polled on the issue after January 6, 2021, according to the poll. “The more recent declines of the past two years (to varying degrees for different partisan groups) may reflect economic unease amid higher prices, disapproval of the jobs President Joe Biden, Congress and the Supreme Court are doing, increasing hostility between the political parties, former President Donald Trump’s persistent political strength,

WASHINGTON — House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced a deal Sunday on how much the U.S. government will spend in the new year, a significant step toward avoiding a shutdown. But while the agreement on a “topline” spending level breaks a logjam that had stalled the process, it doesn’t necessarily extinguish the shutdown threat as the first of two deadlines nears on Jan. 19, when some parts of the government will run out of money. “The bipartisan topline appropriations agreement clears the way for Congress to act over the next few weeks in order to maintain important funding priorities for the American people and

There's a fascinating new report from the Washington Post about how worried Barack Obama is about Joe Biden's chances of winning in 2024. According to the report, Obama's first concern about the campaign is about the structure, that Biden's chief advisers are in Washington, D.C., while his campaign is in Wilmington, Delaware. Obama thinks the top people should either be in Wilmington or that the people there should be empowered to make campaign decisions, because as it is now, according to the report, they have to go through D.C. Obama believes that doesn't make for an agile, quick response campaign. While Obama hasn't recommended anyone to help the Biden team,

Ron DeSantis will drop out of the 2024 presidential race if he loses the Iowa caucuses to Donald Trump on January 15, it is claimed. Two well-acquainted sources within the DeSantis campaign, a significant donor and a high-ranking political operative, told The Hill that if the Florida Governor loses to former President Donald Trump on January 15, he is likely to withdraw from the race altogether. The announcement would either be made that same night or the following morning - - and with it a reluctant endorsement for Trump and the governor would not move on to New Hampshire, scheduled for January 23.

Pence, who was in the primary running until he dropped out in October, wants Republicans in Iowa and New Hampshire to caucus and vote for someone other than Trump.

The plight of broadcast TV prospects has been woeful for years already. Cord-cutting - while acknowledged and battled for some time - has actually accelerated in the past couple of years. The carriage dispute between Disney and Spectrum in the fall of 2023 reflected this, as the cable provider was not attempting to strongarm the entertainment giant; it simply could not afford any higher fees due to customer flight. With more people jumping to streaming, the four major networks have experienced a severe erosion, with the annual top series-- outside of sports programming--not able to average more than 10 million viewers per episode.

William Penn may have founded the state of Pennsylvania but the iconic historic figure could soon find himself canceled by the leftist cultural revolution that has wormed its way into the highest corridors of government. In a move that would be expected from totalitarian religious zealots like ISIS or the Taliban, President Joe Biden’s National Park Service plans to remove Penn’s statue from Philadelphia’s Welcome Park, a site that has become very unwelcoming to white “colonizers” like Penn under radical Interior Secretary Deb Haaland.
