It seems clear to me that Jack Smith was appointed for the purpose of besetting Donald J. Trump and finding a means to keep him from running for president again. If I’m right, Smith's many strategies have come to naught this week and it is extremely unlikely that the cases he instituted in the District of Columbia and Florida (meritless as I think they are) will ever be resolved before the election.
The case in the District of Columbia is being heard before Judge Tanya Chutkan. She indicated she wants to hear the case this coming March and has been firm about sticking to that.

The movie was an awe-inspiring presentation of the evidence proving that Arizona’s midterm election was rigged and covered up with absurd show trials in Kari Lake’s lawsuit to overturn the results. This was a complete guide to the clear evidence of misconduct before election day, fraudulent mail-in ballot signature verification, illegal mail-in ballots with no chain of custody documentation and shady testimony by election officials. It also featured interviews with Kari Lake attorneys Kurt Olsen and Bryan Blehm, We The People AZ Alliance investigators Chris Handsel and Shelby Busch, and Lake expert witnesses Clay Parikh and Heather Honey.

Andrew Cuomo is officially waiting (very quietly) in the wings, Page Six hears.
Insiders tell us that the former governor — who has been quietly polling on his chances of being elected mayor of New York City in the event the troubled Eric Adams craps out — is “leaning towards” a run at City Hall.
Adams is not only facing historically low approval ratings, but his office is also under investigation for its ties to the Turkish government.
Now we hear Cuomo — who himself resigned in 2021, after a string of sexual harassment allegations against him (which he has consistently denied) — is ready to run should the opportunity present itself.

A major pro-Palestinian advocacy group is creating a political arm that would grade members of Congress on a scorecard, mobilize voters for candidates it supports and make political donations.
The news, announced Thursday by the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights, followed similar moves in recent years by Jewish Voice for Peace, an anti-Zionist group, and American Muslims for Palestine, amid shifting political currents in the country.
For decades, American voters have shown more sympathy for Israelis than Palestinians, and these attitudes have been consistent across party affiliation and age range. But that seems to be changing.

If the Biden administration thought that by rescuing Iran's economy, which had hit bottom, and removing the Houthis from the list of Foreign Terror Organizations would make both Iran into an ally, the generosity appears to have backfired.
If the Iranian regime is allowed to advance to nuclear weapons capability, it will be on course finally to drive the US out of the region; threaten its oil-rich neighbors; destabilize Europe; deploy military assets in Venezuela and Cuba, and, at last, come for the "Great Satan," the United States.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Friday ruled that the state’s legislative maps, which give Republicans the advantage, are unconstitutional and ordered new lines drawn for the 2024 election.
The 4-3 decision overturning the current maps in a key battleground state carries major implications for the 2024 election and comes after liberals won control of the court this spring.
The Wisconsin case is among a slew of redistricting fights across the country that could determine control of governing bodies from local governing boards to state legislatures and the US House of Representatives.

Univision should be commended, not crucified, for presenting their viewers with bipartisan coverage.
Hispanics make up the second-largest media viewership and voting group in the country. Yet, partisan politics threaten Spanish news at a moment when trust in the media is at an all-time low. As a former journalist who worked for Univision, Telemundo and CNN Español for 35 years, I have watched political hypocrisy threaten the independence of U.S. Spanish media throughout my career.

Japan’s governing Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on Friday replaced two of its top executives, as part of a purge related to the worst corruption scandal to rock the country in three decades.
The outgoing executives were in charge of policy and parliamentary affairs. They belonged to an LDP faction — a sort of party within a party — formerly led by the late ex-Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Japan’s current prime minister, Fumio Kishida, has been sacking party chiefs and Cabinet members to save his administration, as prosecutors investigate allegations that LDP ministers and lawmakers violated political finance laws.

Argentina's new president, Javier Milei, has unleashed a slew of new deregulations on the Argentinian public Wednesday, doing exactly what he promised the public during his election campaign.
According to Breitbart News:
Argentine President Javier Milei announced during a national broadcast on Wednesday night the signing of a Necessity and Urgency Decree (DNU), a form of executive order, that would modify or overturn an estimated 350 federal economic policies.

In a stunning and unprecedented decision, the Colorado Supreme Court removed former President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 ballot, ruling that he isn’t an eligible presidential candidate because of the 14th Amendment’s “insurrectionist ban.”
The ruling was 4-3.
The ruling will be placed on hold pending appeal until January 4, pending a certain appeal to the US Supreme Court, which could settle the matter for the nation

New Yorkers awoke Monday morning to a powerful storm that will bring commuter chaos, with more than 37,000 already without power across the Empire State.
The storm had already slammed Florida with tropical storm-like conditions and caused flash flood emergencies across the South Carolina coast.
It crept up the East Coast, bringing threats of flooding, high winds and severe weather that could cause power outages and disrupt the pre-Christmas travel season before it heads up to Canada Monday evening.
