Christmas road trips this weekend might be challenging for those who are driving an electric vehicle (EV) an extended distance for the first time.
While EVs are popular with certain groups even as they’ve been largely panned by the general population, inexperienced EV drivers could face some unwanted travel surprises this holiday season if they hit the road unprepared, Axios notes in a recent report.
Nearly 104 million people are expected to drive at least 50 miles from their homes between December 23 and January 1, which is a little more than last year’s holiday season, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA).

An Ohio woman celebrating a centenarian birthday was commemorated with an unlikely gift — 105 whisky shooters, one for every year she has been alive.
Fireball Whisky heard of Florence “Flo” Hackman, a resident of Traditions of Deerfield assisted living community in Loveland, turning 105 on December 16 because she is one of its biggest fans, reports Fox News.
Hackman may be elderly, but she is a woman still full of life and energy. According to caretakers at the facility, she drinks a bit of Fireball’s cinnamon-flavored whisky every day.
Learning of her great appreciation for the drink, the company sent her the shooters as a birthday present. [Tweet]

A University of Minnesota (UMN) liberal arts professor called to “dismantle” and “decolonize” the U.S. during an anti-capitalist, pro-Palestinian event.
Dr. Melanie Yazzie, a member of the Navajo Nation and assistant professor of American Indian studies at UMN Twin Cities, joined the “teach-in” panel discussion on December 3, where she made several controversial statements.
Yazzie, who boasts of teaching about “queer Indigenous studies” and “Marxism” on her university biography page, joined the stage with representatives from progressive groups, including American Muslims for Palestine and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization.
According to the professor, “It’s our responsibility as people who are within the United States

There were plenty of MAGA moments during the third year of Joe Biden’s presidency, despite Democrats and Never Trumpers continually putting former President Donald Trump on defense.
Here are some of Trump’s top MAGA moments of 2023.
1. Mugshot
Trump released what is now perhaps the most famous mugshot in American history after his 13-count arraignment at the Fulton County Jail. Trump took it a step further as well, posting the mugshot on X, formally known as Twitter, for the first time since being banished then reinstated under Elon Musk. [Tweet]
The mugshot was an instant viral classic and remains the last thing his account has posted on X.

A new bill was introduced in the United States Congress on Friday to ensure the integrity of presidential ballots.
The Presidential Ballot Integrity Act, introduced by Mr. Higgins of Louisiana, seeks to amend Title 3 of the United States Code, specifically the Electoral Count Act of 1887.
The Electoral Count Act of 1887, or ECA, is a significant United States federal law that introduced procedures specified in the Constitution of the United States for the counting of electoral votes and resolution of related disputes. The ECA details the process by which the Senate and House of Representatives count electoral votes to confirm the election results for President and Vice President.

Illegals being housed at a tent shelter at Floyd Bennett Field in NYC are going door to door in the neighboring community begging for cash, food, and clothes.
Residents are learning the hard way what it means to be a sanctuary city.
The New York Post reported:
David Fitzgerald, 62, said he has noticed an influx of asylum seeker families showing up on his doorstep in Brooklyn’s Marine Park neighborhood in recent weeks asking for spare change — sparking safety fears among some of his neighbors.
“There’s definitely an invasion of immigrants from Floyd Bennett Field in our neighborhood and I see them sitting outside stores … outside the mall

Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie will not appear on the ballot for Maine’s presidential primary, following a judge’s affirmation of an earlier decision. Despite efforts to overturn a ruling by the Maine Secretary of State, Christie’s appeal was rejected, solidifying his absence from the crucial ballot.
The former New Jersey Governor’s campaign faced a significant setback when the Maine Supreme Judicial Court upheld the Secretary of State’s decision, stating that the candidate failed to meet the necessary requirements for ballot inclusion.
The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Christie will not be listed on the Maine primary election ballot due to his failure to secure the required number of in-state petition signatures.

A Canadian journalist who pushed for people to get the COVID-19 vaccine and its million boosters suddenly died at age 33.
According to his family, controversial Canadian corporate media journalist Ian Vandaelle died after being hospitalized and “declared neurologically dead.”
He was known for advocating the use of vaccine passports and draconian mandates. He also called for the firing of anyone who refused the jabs.
Vandaelle argued people who defied the government’s orders should be arrested and taken away to concentration camps.
He worked as a business journalist and editor at the Financial Post. Vandaelle also worked as a producer at BNN Bloomberg for over a decade.

A few days ago, I shared with you a list of 10 of the worst modern examples of Christmas music, but today, I want to turn those tables and tell you about a beautiful, timeless Christmas music tradition that I’ve fallen in love with over the past couple of years.

For 105 years, the choirs of King’s College, Cambridge have performed the traditional Nine Lessons and Carols, and for 95 of those years, the BBC has broadcast the annual program on Christmas Eve via radio and later television. [Video]
A couple of years ago, I stumbled upon the recording of the 2020 version of the broadcast

This case was supposed to have been George Floyd 2.0., but after a two-month-long trial, Tacoma, Wash. jurors made a different decision this week in acquitting three police officers accused of killing a black man. Manuel (Manny) Ellis suffered a deadly heart attack while in police custody in March of 2020. Jurors would learn during a ten-week-long trial that Ellis was a troubled soul, overtaken by a meth habit, who was a diagnosed schizophrenic.
More than one political career was riding on the cops being found guilty of killing Ellis. The mayor called for the officers to be fired on the spot. A community leader demanded the cops be prosecuted.

Robert Card murdered 18 people on October 25 in Lewiston, Maine. He attacked a bowling alley and a restaurant during his senseless rampage. He vanished hours later but was later discovered having killed himself from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Card had a history of severe mental illness, which led to a two-week stint at a mental health clinic last summer. He was hearing voices and threatened to attack a local National Guard base at nearby Saco. He was reportedly a 20-year Army veteran and a trained firearms instructor. New details shed more light on how this shooting was tragically preventable and why police were hesitant to confront Card

On January 28, China sent over a surprise: a spy balloon nearly the size of the Statue of Liberty. It hovered over the United States for a couple of days before being shot down off the Carolina coast on February 4. How this massive surveillance device escaped detection from NORAD made for an embarrassing episode for US security officials.
The balloon hovered over sensitive military sites. Biden wanted to shoot down the balloon, though he was persuaded not to do so by the brass due to falling debris. Yet, we know that wasn’t the first option. The Biden administration wanted to hide its existence and subsequent penetration of US airspace
