"Sticker shock" has taken on a whole new meaning when new electric vehicle owners get their first repair bill following a simple fender bender. The Wall Street Journal reports that a San Francisco resident got in a minor accident with his electric truck. He thought that repairs would be "a couple-thousand-dollar bill from the repair shop and to be without his truck for a couple of weeks." Instead, the first-time EV owner was shocked to get a $22,000 bill for repairs that took 2 1/2 months.
The Biden administration has a goal to have 50% of all new cars on the road in 2030 be electric vehicles.

Vice President Kamala Harris is in Dubai this week to take part in the UN's annual effort to extort money from rich countries to give to poor countries.
It's called the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC ( United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change). COP28 for short.“Today, I am also proud to announce a new $3 billion pledge to the Green Climate Fund, which helps developing countries invest in resilience, clean energy and nature-based solutions,” Harris said Friday during a speech at the summit.
Does anyone have any idea what a "nature-based solution" to climate change might be?

Hollywood celebrities have a horrible reputation for speaking without thinking. Actors and actresses who are encased in self-righteous bubbles and locked safely behind gates in secure communities drop opinions about things they have no knowledge of. It isn’t that they have opinions that’s annoying. It’s the smugness that they deliver them with and the anticipation they have that they will be lauded as brilliant. Susan Sarandon is a typical example of this. She threw out a comment regarding the Israel/Hamas conflict that she was sure would be met with liberal approval. However, what transpired was something Hollywood types are not used to. Sarandon is no stranger to controversy.

Sundance, that tireless intellectual warrior standing guard over at The Conservative Treehouse, occasionally jeers: “You ‘conservative pundits’ still don’t get it. Trump isn’t our candidate. He’s our murder weapon. And the GOP is our victim.”
Recently, he returned to that refrain after highlighting an interview in which Mitt Romney announced his intention to vote for a Democrat unless Republican primary voters nominated Chris Christie, Nikki Haley, or Ron DeSantis for president. Given that Romney tried to remove President Trump from office for Joe Biden’s quid-pro-quo crimes in Ukraine and elsewhere, his continued betrayal of grassroots voters is no surprise. Still, considering how many ordinary

It has become all too common in the media, especially every time another United Nations climate conference like COP28 takes place, to blame every problem on climate change. The media and their go-to climate pundits reach far and wide to connect whatever tragic event is trending in the news to the modest warming of the past hundred or so years, and they do it no matter how tenuous the connection.
Some claims immediately stand out as ridiculous to even the casual observer, like the claim that the oceans are boiling, which is so stupid only someone who has blind trust in favored authorities bordering on pathological would believe it.

Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom repeatedly said he was insulted and offended by Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ actions and policies during Thursday's landmark debate on "Hannity," including one tense moment when DeSantis mentioned Vice President Kamala Harris.
The Fox News debate between Newsom and DeSantis, a 2024 presidential candidate, quickly got heated when the two attacked each other’s records on hot topics like crime, tax policy and the COVID-19 pandemic response.
"That's insulting," Newsom declared after DeSantis claimed Los Angeles had "collapsed" due to crime.

Happy Friday, Gentle Readers, (Snip) The other reason I want to visit Italy is to see the "Pieta." I first saw a photo of it when I was a teen, and even then, I was struck by Michelangelo's precise and delicate work. In particular, I was struck by the face of Christ and the look of tender sorrow on Mary's face. The image of a grief-stricken mother adds a dimension to the story of the Crucifixion that is often overlooked. For Christians, the sculpture depicts another facet of the depth of Christ's sacrifice while subtly but significantly underscoring the importance of the miracle and victory to come.

Former Senator John Kerry, climate envoy for the Biden administration, scolded the world for not making enough sacrifices to fight climate change at the COP28 climate conference in Dubai on Wednesday.
“There’s too much business as usual still. We have got to bring people to the table who are not yet there. And we will make progress in that,” Kerry said.
“Not everybody is doing what they promised to do. And needless to say, that’s a problem and we need to have accountability at this COP, for that lack of follow-through by some,” he lectured. Kerry said the world –

While acknowledging that he shouldn’t “complain too much”, Volodymyr Zelensky has again expressed his displeasure with the volume of Western weapons flowing into his country.
There are not enough weapons in Ukraine and this has been a contributing factor to the failure of the so-called Spring Offensive, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said. Noting the lack of supplies and the war in Israel that has contributed to some of those supplies he hoped for not arriving, Zelensky, nevertheless told the Associated Press in an interview that he had a plan to overcome his nation’s supply problems.
Balancing his feelings on the supply situation, Zelensky told the wires service

Late Tuesday night a tweet posted on Joe Biden's Twitter account regarding the ongoing Hamas war against Israel caused confusion and backlash.
The Tweet, or "X", indicated the White House is now pushing for a permanent ceasefire after the terrorist group slaughtered thousands of civilians and still holds women and children hostage, including Americans. Within hours of the tweet being posted, White House officials attempted to clarify that the tweet was not a "change in policy." From Jewish Insider:
"For several hours on Tuesday night, a tweet from President Joe Biden’s campaign account put observers of the Israel-Hamas war on high alert. The three sentences came from a speech

The IDF has announced that Hamas violated the terms of the current ceasefire and that it has resumed combat operations against Hamas in Gaza (below). The Times of Israel has posted a long story on the resumption of combat this morning here. (X) Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Israel and met with its war cabinet yesterday. He continues to caution Israel on the law of war, as though the IDF is some kind of a scofflaw. He made it clear that the Biden administration is unhappy with Israel and seeks to impose constraints on the operation of the IDF in Gaza. The Times of Israel covers Blinken’s visit here.

It’s unfortunate that the destruction of our military isn’t a bigger story and it’s also a shame that so few Republicans and conservatives have backed Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s principled stand to block Biden’s radical military nominees.
Senate Republicans are seeking to bypass his insistence that Biden’s nominees pass proper confirmation with appropriate scrutiny instead of being shoved through.
And that may mean the end of the military as an American institution committed to defending the nation. Instead, it will become another DEI operation.
As this letter from Save America’s Military warns, “independently conducted research
