Texas lawmakers are returning home for Thanksgiving as uncertainty looms over Gov. Greg Abbott’s yearlong push for school vouchers, which the House rejected Friday in its most direct vote on the issue yet. Pennsylvania voters are doubting the integrity of local elections in the swing county of Northampton after issues with touchscreen voting devices arose on the most recent Election Day. The glitches were similar to those seen in the county’s 2019 judges race.
Election officials are scrambling to ensure trust in the voting system as voters and local leaders alike are sounding the alarm, a Saturday Politico report revealed.Northampton used Election Systems & Software touchscreen machines for the first time in 2019 and saw a “programming glitch” that caused a significant “undercount” of votes in the local judge’s race, the publication reported. Nine-year-old Irish girl Emily Hand has been reunited with her devoted father after she was held hostage by Hamas for 50 days.
Hamas finally freed 13 Israeli hostages and seven of other nationalities on Saturday after initially refusing to let them go.
The hostages were handed to the Red Cross in exchange for 39 Palestinians. Among the hostages released from both sides were 41 children and 11 women. Emily, an Irish-Israeli citizen, was kidnapped during Hamas' invasion of Israel on October 7, in which some 240 captives were taken back into Gaza. She had her ninth birthday while in captivity.

Joe Biden was booed and heckled on the streets of Nantucket on Saturday even as people protesting the war in Gaza were kept far away from the president.

Budget cut-bolstered attrition set the Big Apple up for a “dramatic turn for the worse” as police officers have turned in their badges in staggering numbers.

More than 100,000 Chinese nationals have migrated into the United States since 2021, and the federal government is doing little to block them or to send them home, the New York Times reported on November 24.
“When [President Joe] Biden and Mr. Xi met last week during an international summit in San Francisco, for instance, immigration was absent in their discussion,” the newspaper reported: Instead, they talked about fentanyl, American business investment in China and export controls, among other topics.
In the past, American diplomats have tried to work with the Chinese government to persuade it to repatriate its citizens, and the response has tended to be the same.

We've seen some pretty horrible actions as an outgrowth of the Hamas attack on Israel and then the subsequent leftist push of the anti-Israel cause.
In addition to negatively affecting Israel this push is bringing evil things to this country, mainly among the young, who are indoctrinated by leftist thought. We've seen this at all kinds of rallies and across college campuses. We even see it capturing climate activist Greta Thunberg. We learned about the 1930s and pogroms in school, but we're seeing some of the same things developing in realtime, as a frightening incident in New York City makes clear.

When it comes to political violence, the Left has a problem.
The Right likewise has a problem, but there's no shortage of commentary regarding this exact topic. In fact, even the federal government is laser-focused on violence from the Right. In contrast, left-wing violence in the United States tends to go largely unnoticed, if not unpunished.
A word of advice from a historical perspective, for both parties: Get your people under control, embrace coexistence, and stop trying to "immanentize the eschaton" via violence. Because if you do manage to brute force the U.S. into adopting your preferred reality,

13 Israeli hostages are now under Israeli supervision and on their way home, and 39 criminals are returning to Gaza. Israel made this exchange because of the Jewish value of treasuring each individual life. But given that Hamas repeatedly demonstrates that they have no respect for life, even for their own civilians whom they use as human shields, why is Hamas actually making this exchange? There is the obvious reason that it gives Hamas days to recover and regroup, but there is another, more insidious and dangerous reason for Hamas to make this exchange. A reason that has nothing to do with the military war against Israel

New MTA reporting shows farebeating on buses and subways is still rising — a clear warning that broader public disorder is ahead. Just what New York needs when Mayor Adams is looking to shrink the NYPD. Bill Bratton, then chief of the MTA police, directed that effort in order to make the subways safer: If you commit a casual crime to enter the system, he realized, you become more likely to commit worse crimes while you’re there.

DUBLIN — In the 12 months leading up to April this year, 141,600 immigrants landed in Ireland. The Irish population has increased by more than 2%. If the US had similar immigration, it would mean 9 million extra people. This is the highest level since the prosperous “Celtic Tiger” era of the late ’90s. Ireland’s non-nationals comprise a whopping 20% of the population. The tinder box of immigration blew open Thursday with a mass riot in Dublin following the stabbing of a number of young children outside a school near the main street.
