Former first lady Rosalynn Carter is joining her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, in-home hospice care at the couple’s longtime residence in Plains, Ga. In a brief announcement Friday, the couple’s grandson Jason Carter said the pair “are spending time with each other and their family. Last February, Jimmah was reportedly sent to hospice care. Now Rosalyn is too? It's hell getting old.

Being from Georgia and growing up not far from Plains and in my twenties my first vote in a general election was for Jimmy. Good man, but not Presidental timber.

I'll give this to Carter. He was the last honest Democrat to be President. Not a good one, but at least honest. May both of them be comforted by our Lord and Savior. May not agree with their politics, but they were honest.

In 1949, the trailblazing anti-racist musical “South Pacific”––created by composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II––debuted on Broadway to wild critical acclaim, running for over five years in nearly 2,000 performances. A particularly powerful and influential song from the musical, “You’ve Got to Be Carefully Taught,” carried the message that hatred does not arise spontaneously in the human species, but rather is inculcated––taught, sermonized, infused––by parents, teachers, coaches, political figures or other impassioned haters. Here are the still-relevant lyrics:

Sixteen pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested Friday after they barged into News Corps’ Manhattan headquarters – which is home to The New York Post newsroom – and occupied the lobby, chanting, “Free Palestine.” The disruptive demonstration came just two days after News Corp was highlighted on a disturbing map calling for “direct action” to “globalize intifada.” “One, two, three, four … occupation no more!” the group chanted outside the Midtown building, while several attendees waved Palestinian flags and signs, video shows. “Five, six, seven, eight … Israel is a terrorist state!” they continued under the direction of a man shouting into a megaphone.

A somber-looking Donald Trump led his family and dozens of other people in mourning his sister, retired Judge Maryanne Trump Barry, at her Upper East Side funeral Friday. The ex-president, his wife, Melania, and his children Don Jr., Eric and Ivanka were seen waiting on the sidewalk in front of St. Ignatius of Loyola Church on Park Avenue around East 84th Street in Manhattan to greet the black Cadillac hearse carrying the coffin of the Queens native and former no-nonsense federal judge and assistant US attorney, who died Nov. 13 at age 86. As the hearse pulled up to the church, the Trump family embraced until Trump Barry’s coffin emerged,

A Michigan judge on Tuesday dismissed an effort to keep former President Donald Trump off the state’s ballot in 2024. The judge said that under Michigan law, the secretary of state does not have the authority to intervene in a primary election if the party chooses to list a candidate who would not qualify for the office. “The ultimate decision is made by the respective political party, with the consent of the listed candidate,” the judge wrote. The decision comes after a group of Michigan voters in September filed a legal challenge to Trump’s candidacy,
The Big Switch, GOP Is the Working Class Party 5 replies

In the post-World War II era, Democrats were labeled as the political party that represented average Americans. Democrats were credited with fighting for the rights of the working-class, minorities, women, and the disadvantaged. In contrast, the Republicans were supposedly the party of the country club elitists, the Chamber of Commerce, and the business tycoons looking to garner favors from the government. These generalizations may have resembled the truth through the years of Republican presidential nominees such as George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, George W. Bush, John McCain, and Mitt Romney. However, in the last eight years, since Donald Trump became the leading Republican, the political parties have switched roles. Today,

Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) threatened to have a far-left journalist “thrown off” an Amtrak train Monday after the lawmaker was asked about his resistance to calling for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war. The Delaware Democrat was apparently riding in the quiet car of the locomotive when Grayzone reporter Aaron Mate, who was seated across from Coons, apologized for putting him “on the spot” and demanded to know why the senator hasn’t called for a “cease-fire in Gaza.”

Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators are expected to flood the National Mall in Washington, DC, on Tuesday in one of the largest pro-Israel protests since the Israel-Hamas war began five weeks ago. The “March for Israel” — organized by the Jewish Federations of North America and Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations — is billed as an opportunity for “Americans from all walks of life” to condemn rising antisemitism across the nation and to demand that Hamas finally release the hundreds of Israeli hostages it is hiding in Gaza. “Israel must eliminate the terrorist threat on its border and restore safety and security to its people.

Hundreds of anti-Israel protesters calling for the elimination of the Jewish state stormed Grand Central Terminal Friday night, furiously banging and kicking at a locked entrance of the station that was forced to temporarily close over the rowdy demonstration. The mob was part of a “Flood Manhattan for Gaza” protest that initially converged on Columbus Circle earlier in the evening, where they set fire to an Israeli flag and taunted a small faction of counter-demonstrators before marching through Manhattan and splattering fake blood on the New York Times building. “We don’t want a Jewish state. The once prestigious Lancet medical journal has made the astounding claim the year 2023 saw “the highest global temperatures in over 100,000 years,” even though temperature data collection only began in the 19th century. According to NASA, three of the world’s most complete temperature tracking records, maintained by NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Climatic Data Center, and the U.K. Meteorological Office’s Hadley Centre, began in 1880. Although sporadic attempts to measure temperature were made, “there are too few data before 1880 for scientists to estimate average temperatures for the entire planet,” NASA notes.

President Joe Biden’s border chief is now ordering border guards not to presume the correct sex and corresponding pronouns for illegal migrants. “We just obtained [Customs and Border Patrol agency] documents directing personnel to only use woke language when encountering individuals invading the United States,” a tweet from the Oversight Project at the Heritage Foundation reads. The order from border chief Alejandro Mayorkas directs border guards to ignore the biological distinction between the two complementary sexes. Instead, officers must submit to the political claim that each person’s “gender” is more important than their biological sex and so must allow people to sneak across the male/female border under the disguise of “transgender” pronouns.

There are so many murmurs about replacing Joe Biden as the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee that a more central question can get sidelined: what are his chances of winning a second term if he is not removed from the ballot? Everyone is free to mull some scheme featuring Gavin Newsom riding to the rescue, or the spectacle of Michelle Obama lowered from the rafters at the Chicago convention to accept the anointing of delegates filled with joyful relief.

And then there’s whatever is going on between former President Barack Obama and Biden, who served as the former’s VP in both presidential terms.
