Several years ago, I wrote a column entitled, “Something Evil This Way Comes” because there had been so many incidents occurring which defied common sense and smacked of nothing short of evil.
Consequently, it came as no surprise that our Catholic diocese restored having the St. Michael prayer said at the end of each mass.
I sent away for a statue of St. Michael the Archangel that graces the mantle of our fireplace because he is the most the Archangel that graces the mantle of our fireplace because he is the most powerful angel and my favorite.

Our parish says the St. Michael prayer ever Mass too. I try to say it every day. There is evil in the world and it's getting more powerful.

I would add in the prayer to St Michael, please keep America safe from the evil which is Islam, in all it's forms!

As a Baptist I do not pray to angels, even archangels. We do however, pray in Jesus name that this horror that has visited Israel, once again, will be eradicated. Israel deserves to live in peace but Muslims just will not allow it. Israel is not the problem in the Middle East. The problem is and has always been the barbarians who believe it is their duty to wipe Israel off the map. They are more zealous than Hitler’s genocidal behavior toward the Jewish people. I am puzzled by the fact that anyone would support this heinous terror group. The evidence is there clearly depicting their depravity and there is no excuse for such savagery. They have gone beyond waging war. They are monsters killing, raping and beheading innocent civilians. No one should even try and justify what they have done and certainly no one should try and tell Israel how to avenge the horrific deaths of men, women, and children. The world should just sit down and shut up and allow Bibi to do what we all needs to be done. Hamas must be eliminated from this world. Nothing less will do. They have given up their right to live among us.

One only needs to re-examine accounts of the previous wars Israel was caught up in to see the hand of God...mysterious images, soldiers laying down their weapons even though outnumbering the Israel'is...the accounts abound...and Israel has 'cleaned the clock' of so many over the years since it's founding....yet, stupid countries and people, continue to try and take them down...isn't going to happen...and as far as the 4 hour truce, that just lets Ham-Ass rearm...Israel needs to just go in and level Gaza...

There is another evil that is permeating our families and kitchen table. My own ( adult) children firmly believe that the Israeli response to Hamas atrocities has negated any sympathy for Israeli victims and hostages. I remarked that it is only a step away from saying Hamas attacks were justified. But their generation doesn’t see it that way.

Our young people are idealistic and delusional when it comes to war because this country has never been attacked in a large scale way during their lifetimes and they have not seen the world being overrun by mad dictators and little despots like Hitler and Hirohito that willingly killed millions of people to advance their own race or country. It's easy to sit back and preach that killing is wrong. Of course it's wrong, until you and everybody around you is threatened with death, torture or imprisonment. I hope they wise up when it happens here again or socialist slavery is their future.

#3 I saw a video on Facebook last night, forensics people in Israel. Some victims - there was no DNA left to identify them by. A couple were tied together, set on fire, flammables tossed on until even the bones were burned. Pictures were not shown on this video, but words described the horrors. It made me sick. And then I read that The Moron keeps trying to get Netanyahu to stop the bombing so the people can get out of town. Mrs. Colon is so right.

How is a statue of any living thing held up to be revered not idolatry?
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.”
How does one get around this clear statement?

Alicia, very nicely written. So, I guess we await The Rapture, The Great Tribulation, and then The End Times. Meanwhile, Americans must find God and seek His Word post-haste. Enjoy everything that is good in this life.

At our house we have been praying 30 years daily for Israel. We also support a non-profit American Christian group that is in Israel called Jerusalem Prayer Group/Mike Evans. We had a call from them 2 days ago and they said they are using the donations sent to buy mattresses and other items for Jewish refugees. They are using a museum in Jerusalem to house them. Please keep praying for these Israelis. They are still in shock from the Oct. 7 attack and loss of homes and lives.

I have an etching of St. Michael hanging with my crucifix just inside my front door.
For those of you who are not Catholics, let me enlighten you. We do NOT pray to statues or angels. Our prayers, including the prayer to St. Michael and the Hail Mary ask THEM to pray for US and to defend and protect us. We do not pray to them, we honor them and ask them for help.

I understand the argument that the praying to a being is not supposed to be worship, but it sounds like a distinction with little or no difference. In reality, it looks like Roman paganism with a very thin gloss of Judaeo-Christian theology.

The angels execute G_d’s commands. If the angels intercede, it’s done so with G_d’s approval. Angels only act on their own when doing so complies with G_d’s plans and commands.
Pray to the “source”.
