Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves (R) was projected to win reelection over Democrat Brandon Presley to secure a second term, according to Decision Desk HQ.
Reeves was expected to have the edge in Tuesday’s election, although Presley put up what many observers considered a surprisingly competitive fight to try and flip the governor’s seat in the ruby-red state. Reeves won with the backing of former President Trump in a conservative stronghold state that hasn’t elected a Democratic governor in 20 years.
In 2019, Reeves won by 5 points against Democrat Jim Hood, then the state’s attorney general, to fill the seat left empty by his term-limited Republican predecessor.

Former CIA officer Brian Jeffrey Raymond pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal sex abuse charges, admitting to drugging and sexually assaulting at least two dozen women during his overseas postings.
The 47-year-old San Diego native kept a collection of nearly 500 videos and photographs documenting his assaults, which date back to 2006 and span multiple countries, including Mexico and Peru, prosecutors said, according to The Associated Press (AP).

A new mayor of Manchester was elected Tuesday after many Granite Staters headed to the polls to cast their ballots in municipal elections. Republican Jay Ruais defeated Democrat Kevin Cavanaugh by 488 votes.
Ruais had 51% of the votes, while Cavanaugh had 49% of the votes. There were a total of 18,296 votes cast in the Manchester mayoral race.
Ruais is a former GOP activist and Capitol Hill staffer who has worked in the recovery community and currently serves in the Army National Guard.
He is promising a "fresh vision" for the Queen City and is vowing to take on issues from homelessness to public safety to mental health.
President Joe Biden fundraised off the Democrat Party’s nearly flawless election day on Tuesday, using the victories in Ohio, Kentucky, and likely in Virginia to draw a contrast between “democracy” and “MAGA.”
The Republican potential losses in all three states highlight the GOP’s seeming inability to persuade voters of their arguments against late-term abortions.
