Hamas-shielding AP inadvertently drew attention to the history of Israel’s ceasefires with Palestinians — pauses in a 76-year war. Palestinians use ceasefires to reload before breaking the truce by attacking Israel again. Israel reloads as well as it plans counterattacks.
AP has sided with the Palestinians for as long as I can remember. For over a decade, its bureau in Gaza City provided cover for Hamas — the latest name for Palestine’s terrorist army. Hamas governs Gaza. The continuing war against Israel has brought Shi’as (who back Hezbollah) together with Sunnis (Hamas) to fight a common enemy — Jews.

An Army reservist warned a training supervisor that the man who shot more than two dozen people late last month in Lewiston, Maine, was having serious mental health issues and that he could snap and go on a shooting spree.
(snip)The shooter had mental health issues that included “hearing voices and threats to shoot up the National Guard Base in Saco, ME,” a law enforcement bulletin said.

Stalled in polls and buffeted by bad headlines, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s underperforming presidential campaign got a major lift Sunday with the announcement that Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds would endorse him.
By itself, an endorsement of one politician by another is often of extremely limited value in a campaign, but Reynolds is highly popular with Republican voters in Iowa and she has a reputation for hard work — one who could do a more effective job of translating DeSantis’s appeal to her state voters than he has to date.

The timing here is just splendid. According to multiple MSM sources, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is scheduled to endorse Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for the 2024 GOP nomination. The endorsement is scheduled to be announced tomorrow in Iowa. This endorsement comes on the heels of a recent Morning Consult poll [SEE HERE] showing Governor Kim Reynolds is “America’s most unpopular governor.”😂🤣😂 How appropriate is that?(snip)You might remember when I said, and repeated, to “watch the RGA.” Well, surprise, surprise, guess who is the current RGA Chair? Yup, Kim Reynolds. {link} These people are entirely predictable.

The conversations have included very broad outlines of what Ukraine might need to give up to reach a deal, the officials said. (snip)The Biden administration does not have any indication that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to negotiate with Ukraine, two U.S. officials said. Western officials say Putin still believes he can “wait out the West,” or keep fighting until the U.S. and its allies lose domestic support for funding Ukraine or the struggle to supply Kyiv with weapons and ammunition becomes too costly, officials said.

How’s that war on Russia going, Neocons? The collective West is ever more urgently seeking an exit strategy from Ukraine. The concern among the ruling classes is to somehow sell to their publics that this war hasn’t turned—predictably—into a massive geopolitical debacle and defeat. ‘It’s a stalemate, not a defeat!’ is the cry that we’re hearing—from Time, NBC, The Economist, FT, etc. You can read about the hand wringing here:
Game Over: US, European Officials Quietly Nudge Ukraine To Seek Peace
The Russian response has been to ridicule the West, which is entirely understandable.

Today we follow on from yesterday’s War On Russia, War Among The Jews.
In his Farewell Address of 1796, Geo. Washington famously warned Americans against “the party spirit”, linking that spirit to the danger of foreign entanglements. Washington was a guy who knew whereof he spoke. The young American Republic had achieved its independence with the significant aid of foreign powers (France, Spain) and after suppressing significant internal opposition from Loyalists. In succeeding decades of the 19th century the United States was forced to thread the needle of military preparedness (Barbary Pirates) and involvement in the Napoleonic Wars (War of 1812). The US Civil War featured attempted foreign intervention once again.

New research may explain why some individuals experience a rare and often fatal blood clotting disorder after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. In a recent study published Oct. 26 in the peer-reviewed journal Blood, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research and the British Heart Foundation, scientists from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom identified a new mechanism of platelet activation in vaccine-induced immune thrombocytopenia and thrombosis (VITT).
VITT is a clinical syndrome associated with COVID-19 vaccines that is characterized by thrombosis, or blood clots, at uncommon sites and mild to severe thrombocytopenia.

This is, well, too full of smiles to adequately describe. Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz delivered a resoundingly honest speech to the Republican attendees at the Florida Freedom Summit on Saturday. It is well worth the time to watch, as prompted.
Look, I’m still on the fence with this guy, but his brutal confrontation of the GOPe is some of the funniest and best components of the BIG UGLY so far. The guy has been put through the wringer, hit from every angle, ridiculed by both the left and right, and yet he’s standing there snarking brutal one-liners in their faces while sipping their tears.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an alert to health care providers to administer the right dosage of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine to children amid reports that double doses were given to children.
"We are advising healthcare providers who administer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to individuals six months through 11 years of age to ensure that the correct volume of the vaccine is withdrawn from the vial so that the correct dose is administered to the vaccine recipient," the FDA alert said.

KYIV, Ukraine – Russian attacks in Ukraine wounded at least 14 civilians over the past day, officials said Saturday, as the president of the European Union’s executive arm returned to the Ukrainian capital to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. (snip) The visit came a week before she was due to present a report on the enlargement of the EU, which von der Leyen said will note Kyiv’s progress on its path to membership in the 27-member bloc.
“I must say you have made excellent progress. This is impressive to see,” von der Leyen said after the meeting with Zelenskyy.

President Joe Biden is threatening to veto House Republicans’ aid package to Israel unless it includes funding for Ukraine — and Speaker Mike Johnson should call his bluff.(snip)Having previously voted against additional funding for Ukraine, Johnson — who was elected House speaker last week — should show Republican voters what he’s made of. If Biden and McConnell are willing to block U.S. aid to Israel as the latter fights for its very survival, then Johnson should force them to do it.
Johnson shouldn’t waste time engaging in behind-closed-doors negotiations, which Republicans always lose.
