The Washington Post has a story today about the network of tunnels dug beneath Gaza by Hamas fighters. The entire network is estimated to stretch over 300 miles despite the Gaza strip being on 25 miles long. It’s where Hamas fighters have been hiding out since the start of Israel’s military response to the 10/7 attack. But the IDF has no intention of entering the tunnels which are likely booby-trapped. Israeli military protocol generally prohibits regular ground troops from entering tunnels, as the chances of being killed or captured is too high. Israelis have seen their soldiers grabbed and dragged into tunnels, so the likely strategy will be to attempt

Pump them full of sea water and as the drowning rats come out, shoot them.

The best solution, as Sexton writes, is probably the Mediterranean Sea. If you want Hamas above ground, it seem that pumping about ten reservoirs worth of seawater into each tunnel opening would cause the terrorists major problems if they were unable to swim underground in sandy mud. Inundate them.

I agree with #1 and #3. the tunnels must all be below sea level. Seems like Israel could run some large pipes over to them and siphon/pump the Mediterranean into them.

Two tank wagons of propane and a match. Let it infiltrate for a couple days, light it up and run.

Cannot Hamas seal parts of the tunnel complex to block off flooding?

Can imagine all kinds of traps and ambushes. Is there any way to map the tunnels without entering them? Wonder if drones could be used.

What we did in South Pacific in WW2 was to seal the entrances (explosives or bulldozer) and let enemy die in the dark ... OR ... we used flame thrower which either burned enemy to death or else used up the air to a degree that they died of asphyxia.

The tunnels could be used to sequester carbon dioxide to reduce global warming thus gaining the approval of leftists.

Another method from South Pacific (used in places on Okinawa and to get into Ft Drum in Manilla Bay: pump fuel in large quantities (particularly if the tunnels are multi level and may have other escapes). Then you light fuel which uses oxygen throughout tunnel system and may also burn a few of the enemy.

#7, when they seal them off they limit their usefulness. It also limits the number of places where they could pop up out of the ground.

Flood the tunnels:
Drown the rats,
Wreck the weapons
Win, win, lose,
the hostages
Are you prepared to resist the media shiit storm after that?

The options are filling the tunnels with high pressure gas, water, and as poster #2 suggests, high humidity heat.

Pumpmin gasoline. It wil mix with air, their ventilation fans will move it along. If it finds it's own ignition source, fine, otherwise, toss in a flare after 1 hour or so.
Tunnels instantly turn into ditches, and terrorists turn into jelly.

Fill the tunnels with "Sleeping GAS" then send in the Robots to take care of the remainders!
WHEN they find hostages, rescue them. Sooner or later the Hamas Thugs will all be done in!

I like the sponge bomb idea. Surely they can make it safer for the Israeli soldier, or maybe just train them better. It would give the HAMAS terrorist time to confer with their "Mohammed" before going to judgement day with the one true God.

I seem to recall that one or two US states have a ferocious feral pig population.
Round up a few hundred and turn them lose in the tunnels.
Muslims don't like pigs.

The seawater idea works for me. Armed robot drones. Remote controlled bombs...
There are plenty of options where the IDF can sit back and enjoy the show.

Silly question. There are many options, most of them inhumane, that will get the delusional Ivy League supporters into twisted panty mode. When I find a nest of Yellow Jackets in the ground I dump in some oil; works every time. That would be an appropriate method given that oil enables terrorism in the Middle East. If not for oil, they would all be riding camels and living in tents.

Drop leaflets telling everyone to get the he'll out then, drop a MOAB. I'm guessing you'll clear out most of the tunnels. Just look at what Trump did in Afghanistan with a MOAB.

Whatever they do to the tunnels, the IDF would be doing the world a favor if they invited the pro-Hamas media to enter the tunnels before sealing them off and blowing them up.
