For the last sixty or so years the media-education complex has established a rule that only ethnic groups of color are permitted to have grievances. Indeed, since the emergence of Barack Obama, these groups have formed something of a grievance-industrial complex.
Italian-Americans apparently don’t pass the color test. Although they come from roughly the same Mediterranean stock as people from Spain, Americans of Spanish descent get a bump up the swag wagon. Italians get niente.
People of Spanish descent even get a designated month, National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Italians were considered "people of color" when I was a kid. I think the "Godfather" movies were the turning point.

I think a lot of blue cities were safer when the Godfather type mobs existed.

We moved to Long Island from Brooklyn in 1961 and we were the first Italian-Americans on the block, at times we weren't treated nicely by the neighbors after a few short years and the generousity of my parents attatude changed. Italian- American have done as much for this country as any nationalnaity. Look at any list of casulities in any war after WWI and you'll see thousands on Itialian last names. Ripping up a Columbus statue and replacing it with crack addict St. George Floyd - I cry for our nation.

From the Roman Empire to Galileo, De Vinche, Columbus, Magellan and others too many to mention. Over the last 2000 years Italy has contributed so much to the world’s development. Just one small country.
Discounting North Africa what has the rest of the entire African continent, in 10,000 years, contributed in the way of Arts, Engineering and Exploration?

The headline of this article should more accurately be “The War Against White Americans.” Columbus must go not because he was Italian. His statues must be destroyed because he was white. Same for Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, Miguel de Cervantes, Junipero Serra, Confederate generals and soldiers. If memorializing whites, the statues must be removed or defaced. Exchanging Columbus for George Floyd in Newark is the perfect example of the erasure of white people.

Great article. I am a third generation Italian. My parents did not speak Italian and my grandparents only spoke a little Italian. To this day, I am sorry they didn't continue our language tradition. Yet, I was told so many times when I spoke, I didn't sound Italian. I was never quite sure what that meant but, I always suspected people were surprised I didn't speak the "vernacular" of dese, dems, dos, that the media has always portrayed us speaking.
Italian neighborhoods are rapidly disappearing, and family values we were taught at home, customs mostly centered around God, family and food, are disappearing as our children become indoctrinated into the slop that is American culture today. Like everything else, our cultures and beliefs are being ripped apart by socialist mobs in government and in the streets, to destroy the greatest country that has ever graced this earth, the United States of America.

It's only recently that Italian-Americans are counted as White. They're Nouveau Blanc.

There is no "war" on Italians or any other Americans. This is just more BS to keep us divided. Stop falling for it. The worst most people will ever experience is racial/ethnic jokes, and those are universal and harmless. They certainly do not reach the level of a "war".

Several years ago, my buddy who was Sicilian parents discovered that he was seven-percent black. I pointed out to him that he was "more" black than Barack Obama, who's only six-percent black. Obama's father always referred to himself as a Kenyan Arab, and that's why Junior looks far more like Muammar Gaddafi than Martin Luther King.
For the record, Obama is 50-percent white, 44-percent Arab and six-percent black.

Yeah but Italians are white. Thus fair game for the left and the history revisionists. They are also mostly Christians, another target for the left. I hate to say this but there is a coming separation in our country and it may involve violence. I am not one to defend the abomination of slavery but I have come to the conclusion that the South should have bee allowed to secede peacefully. There would probably be a reunion of the states after the slavery issue had been resolved. The North went to war for that oldest of reasons....money although they covered the real reason with freeing the slaves. After the South seceded, the North lost the warm water ports effectively cutting off the North’s import/export business. Lincoln had the Northern businessmen screaming in one ear and the abolitionists screaming in the other. Six hundred thousand dead on both sides and countless civilians in the aftermath.
