California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) will appoint Laphonza Butler to fill Feinstein’s vacant Senate seat.
“California Gov. Gavin Newsom will appoint EMILY’s List President Laphonza Butler to fill the seat of the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein, elevating the head of a fundraising juggernaut that works to elect Democratic women who support abortion rights, according to a person familiar with the decision.” Politico reported.
Dianne Feinstein died Thursday night at the age of 90. She was the longest-serving woman in the US Senate.
Feinstein was also one of the most corrupt Senators, and that is saying a lot.

Remember when Liz Cheney was going to have a "megaphone" after losing her primary in Wyoming? The idea was that her 40-point defeat would only elevate her, positioning her to speak loudly and forcefully against the supposed excesses of her own party. Cheney was going to protect "democracy" and be well-positioned for a 2024 presidential run.
Well, as usual, those bleating the loudest in the mainstream press were wrong because none of that happened. Instead, she has been heavily marginalized, likely because she's no longer useful to the Democratic Party.
I regret to inform you that Cheney is back, at least momentarily,

A new Kaiser Family Foundation poll shows that most American adults overwhelmingly have zero plans to get the new upcoming COVID vaccines which are being heavily plugged by the Biden administration.
Less than a quarter of those surveyed have "subject myself to another jab" on their calendars:
Among U.S. adults, 52% say they will "probably" or "definitely" not get the new COVID-19 vaccine, according to the latest KFF (Kaiser Family Foundation) COVID-19 Vaccine Monitor poll.
Conversely, 23% of adults "definitely" plan to get the vaccine — while another 23% will "probably" get it.

Joe Biden finally emerged from his basement on Sunday, now that a government shutdown was averted.
On Friday, when it looked like there would likely be a shutdown, Biden took an early lid. He had nothing on his schedule for the weekend. Reporters asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre if he would be involved in the discussions, but she said he had no meetings planned with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). She said that it wasn't up to Biden to resolve the issues. They basically absolved themselves of any responsibility and claimed he wasn't involved in the process.

Stop talking. That advice should have come from Rep. Jamaal Bowman’s (D-NY) press team over this fire alarm fiasco that could land the congressman in legal trouble, along with an ethics violation. Mr. Bowman pulled a fire alarm in Cannon before a critical vote on a spending bill to keep the government from shutting down. The whole incident was caught on video. Liberals have been ruthless in going against Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) for daring to be a black conservative. It's something that's unfortunately been happening for a while now, but it really ramped up with his run for president. During Wednesday's second RNC debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, Scott dared to call out the failures of the Lyndon B. Ottumwa, Iowa —Former President Donald Trump campaigned in southeast Iowa Sunday in the middle of a fall campaign push aimed at locking in supporters with large organizing events.
As he has with his other recent travels to the leadoff caucus state, Trump stumped in an area that formerly supported Democrats but has embraced him, as the influence trade unions once held has shrunk and lost voters to Republicans.
Trump headlined an afternoon event in Ottumwa, where 2,500 packed the inside of an event hall at the Bridge View Center in Ottumwa. The small city is a hub in eastern Iowa and the seat of Wapello County,

The robbers use stolen cars and hit specific neighborhoods, accosting people and taking their valuables while brandishing automatic weapons in their faces.

The dynamics of what has fueled recent gridlock on Capitol Hill can be boiled down to numbers.
While Democrats retain a slight majority in the Senate, even with the recent passing of Dianne Feinstein of California, House Republicans must contend with a razor-thin 221-213 majority — putting the GOP conference in a precarious position as any major bloc within the party can help pass or scuttle critical pieces of legislation.
The House is a sharply partisan body, as opposed to the more deliberative upper chamber, which has a 60-vote threshold to pass most major bills.
So House Speaker Kevin McCarthy of California faced a critical challenge on Saturday as he pushed through

The argument whether Joe Biden is the worst-ever president could be settled by ranking him with the worst people in American history. If that seems too glib or partisan, people might try an historical and literary approach.
For example, Voltaire’s eponymous Candide finds chaos and catastrophe on every hand but his mentor Dr. Pangloss sees it as the best of all possible worlds. According to the good doctor, “It is impossible that things should be other than they are, for everything is right.” Like Candide, Americans are confused and bewildered. There’s something happening here, as the Buffalo Springfield said, and by now it’s exactly clear.

Here’s a handy source to the workings of the House Oversight Committee which you might want to keep for reference.
It apparently wasn’t very significant to the press. Not like the round-the-clock coverage of the lie that Trump was colluding with Russia, a lie generated by Hillary Clinton and megaphoned by them. Have they noted that the FBI agent who helped launch the probe into this alleged collusion was ironically on the payroll

The U.S. avoided a government shutdown after the Senate secured enough votes to pass a bill to keep the government funded for 45 days just hours before Saturday's midnight deadline.
