Former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson is back with more dubious claims about occurrences within Trump’s inner circle.
On Tuesday, Insider reported that Hutchinson’s new memoir claimed that Trump’s former chief of staff Mark Meadows, who is a devout Baptist, never drank alcohol in his life before downing multiple White Claws in the White House in November 2020, apparently unaware that they contained alcohol. (snip) Unfortunately for Hutchinson, the key witness in the story, Russ Vought, has taken to X, formerly called Twitter, to point out that the interaction with Meadows never took place and to set the record straight on his religion.

Hackers linked to the Chinese government stole around 60,000 emails from the unclassified inboxes of 10 State Department employees as part of a high-profile hack earlier this summer, according to a readout from a Senate staff briefing on Wednesday. (snip) the focus of the hack was on Indo-Pacific diplomatic efforts, with nine of the 10 email accounts breached at the State Department belonging to individuals working on those issues. The other official was focused on Europe.
Among the most sensitive information stolen, the staffer said, were victims’ travel itineraries and diplomatic deliberations.

Democratic California state Sen. Scott Wiener is the driving force behind a series of recent bills targeting parental rights and promoting gender ideology that have become central to a cultural debate in California schools. (snip) Wiener has spearheaded bills establishing guidance for judges to make custody decisions based on which parent “affirms” their child’s “gender identity,” requiring trainings for teachers to “identify” and support LGBTQ students and allowing children to be placed in state residential housing without parental consent at age 12. (snip) Wiener gained national notoriety among conservatives in 2017 when he authored Senate Bill 239, which lowers the punishment for persons who willingly transmit HIV to another person.

Our seemingly long national nightmare is over: Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) will no longer be able to dress like a homeless crackhead at work. (snip) The U.S. Senate has passed a resolution formalizing business attire as the proper dress code for the floor of the chamber by unanimous consent. (snip) The bipartisan bill from Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney requires that members abide by a real dress code – rather than an unwritten custom – when on the Senate floor, that includes a coat, tie, and slacks for men.

Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey — who was indicted last week for alleged bribery, fraud and extortion — signed onto a letter Monday warning of “corruption” in the political system. (snip) Democratic Sen. Shelton Whitehouse of Rhode Island authored the letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Daniel Werfel seeking clarification on nonprofits engaging in “political or election-related activity.” This is wild.
Despite obvious corruption and countless colleagues calling on him to resign,
@SenWhitehouse
still had Bob Menendez sign a letter Monday warning about the "corrupting force" of dark money "undermining faith in our democratic institutions."

A Democratic enclave in Wyoming purchased electric buses to reduce emissions, but the buses are indefinitely inoperable after their manufacturer went bankrupt earlier this summer, the Cowboy State Daily reported. (snip) Proterra, which itself was at the center of a conflict of interest controversy including Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, went bankrupt in August, and START’s eight e-buses are now out of commission given that the manufacturer can no longer readily supply the parts needed for repairs. The South Carolina State Library has officially terminated its partnership with the American Library Association (ALA), citing the group’s alleged partisanship, according to a letter shared Sept. 26.
The ALA selected Emily Drabinski — who described herself as a “Marxist lesbian” in a since-deleted tweet — to head the group in 2022. Drabinski said she hoped to use her position at the library to examine the “consequences of decades of unchecked climate change, class war, white supremacy, and imperialism have led us here.”

Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic Chairman Brad Wenstrup revealed late Tuesday that former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci made a secret visit to the Central Intelligence Agency during the COVID-19 pandemic and pressured analysts to reject the lab leak theory. “According to information gathered by the Select Subcommittee, Dr. Anthony Fauci, then-director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, played a role in the Central Intelligence Agency’s review of the origins of COVID-19. The information provided suggests that Dr. Fauci was escorted into Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Headquarters—without a record of entry—and participated in the analysis to 'influence' the Agency’s review."

A little over four months after Oscar Mayer announced that its iconic Wienermobile would be referred to as the "Frankmobile," the company is returning to its roots and changing the name back.
"It was a franktastic summer celebrating our 100% beef franks with the Frankmobile from coast to coast," Kelsey Rice, an associate director at Oscar Mayer, told Fox News Digital.
However, "like many of you," she added, "we miss our original icon. Kicking off last week, we’re welcoming back the Wienermobile," she said.

There are two major corruption scandals consuming Washington at the moment that involve the relatives of Democratic politicians taking bribes from foreign governments. Here’s a pop quiz – I’ve stripped away the identifying details, see if you can tell me which one is which:
In late 2018, an accident left REDACTED without a car, the indictment says. One of the businesspeople allegedly stepped in in April 2019 to help her buy a Mercedes-Benz C-300 convertible, at one point texting an associate to request $15,000 in cash. The following day, the businessperson met REDACTED in a restaurant parking lot and handed REDACTED “approximately $15,000 in cash"

Sen. Bob Menendez exploited an ethics loophole to amass the nearly $500,000 in cash which federal agents found stuffed in jacket pockets, envelopes and a safe when they raided his home last year, The Post has learned. (snip) Disclosure rules require senators to file annual forms that list liabilities, interest-bearing assets and gifts worth more than $100. But they do not have to list cash they hold — although they could if they wanted to.
Years of his ethics disclosures reviewed by The Post never mentioned a cash pile.
