enate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell froze up again during a press conference Wednesday afternoon, marking the second such incident in just over a month.
During the press conference in Kentucky, McConnell failed to respond after a reporter asked him his thoughts on “running for reelection in 2026.” The senator, who took office in 1985, attempted to mumble something before falling silent. After around 10 seconds of silence, an aide approached McConnell and asked if he’d heard the question. McConnell appeared to whisper “Yes” in response before falling silent again.

He needs to retire, if he won't then the Senate needs to do it for him.

My opinion is he is having mini strokes. Only a matter of time before a major one if he isn’t treating these aggressively.

Kentucky has a democrat governor with appointment power who is up for reelection in November 2023. So we need McConnell to hang on for at least a few more months.

There are three giant pandas on loan from China at the Smithsonian Zoo. Rename them Mitch, Feinstein, and The Big Guy. That should encourage their vain vegetative selves to retire.

Wow. Something really isn't right with him. He is worse off than Feinstein and biden the cheater. Turtle looks to be ready for a memory care facility. His staff can't let him go on like this. But the alternative would be an uber-lefty senator appointed by dim Gov. Beshear.

Mitch answered the question - - very vociferously.
If you don't have the Mitch Telepathy Beam app - - then you didn't hear it. It came in loud and clear - - on my Intergalactic Mitchspeak Decoder receiver - - which i got when Fightin' Roy Blunt retired from the GOP Senate leadership.
You can't get the info - - if you don't have the app.

So unless these guys give themselves term limits (which they won't do) I assume they are going nowhere unless they happen to stroke out at the microphone, fall down, and cannot be revived. I'm thinking 78 is still pushing it but I would agree with that age. FJB, McConnel, Feinstein, Pelosi and the other 30 (give or take a few) need to be backing off and letting others take over. There is a time to change the guard and back off.

I read the following on X/Twitter: Senate Bill 228 says that the Kentucky governor would have to pick a successor from the same party as the departed senator. Is this true? I did a quick Duck search and most results said Gov could pick a Dem. So, which is it?

Saw a picture of Mick Jagger (now 80) and Turtle (81). Ol' Mick doesn't look a day over 55. Can't say that for Turtle.

#8 has it about right. Get him out of leadership today! But let him stay in the Senate for his vote. Kinda like Feinstein.
Hopefully it won't turn into a Weekend at Bernie's situation.

I blame the rest of the mutton headed nit wits in the senate for returning this old man to leadership.
He never should have been returned to it.

Democrat Andy Beshear is the governor of Kentucky. He would be happy to fill a vacancy for McConnell's seat. Beshear is up for re-election this November 7, so one can hope.

Yet another politician we would be vastly better off without. I think that brings us up to...all of them.
Maybe nature will solve the problem when the parties and the voters refuse to.

I saw the video clip of this a few minutes ago on TV...
Over the last few weeks, Mitch has lost a lot of weight, and all of what little muscle tone he had recently. Even Joe Biden seems vibrant and alert compared to Mitch.
I have a feeling Satan will be 'calling Mitch home' soon.

I don’t care who you are. This is scary to watch. Nobody in Washington will vote for term limits, but most of the ones 75 plus should let someone else have a turn.

get out now, mitch while you can still enjoy some kind of peace and tranquility in your life, you are, what appears to be, a dead man walking and your deficiencies are being magnified on an exponential scale, be good to your constituency and leave because you are an invalid who has no chance of recovering

Term limits are needed. Not because there is always something wrong with long service. Or that no elderly people can remain capable.
But power does tend to corrupt and there is a constant temptation of reward relatives, grand children, etc. And trading favors is often easy to justify; for after all, it brings influence and that influence allows one to do good.
When life expectency was perhaps 60 it was a rare politican who held significant office for over 20 years. Now 50 years is not unusual. On paper such numbers prove little. But in reality I sense and I suspect others do also that too many have stayed too long. Way too long.

Not a problem, #5. Kentucky has a fairly new law which states that a replacement must come from the same party as the departing senator and that the state legislature will produce a list of 3 candidates from which the governor must choose.

It's infuriating to watch that brain dead dinosaur cling to power. The worst part is watching those corrupt aids propping him up. They are using him to get power for themselves.
