Former Attorney General Bill Barr said Thursday on FNC’s “Your World” that he would jump off that bridge when he gets to while being pressed on voting for former President Donald Trump should he be the 2024 Republican presidential nominee.
Barr said, “I think there are a lot of Republican voters who have a problem. And when they’re actually confronted with, they’re grateful for Trump as they should be for a lot of the good things he did, but I think when push comes to shove, and they’re thinking about how to make America great again, anger and, you know, will give way to reason and they will see that.”

Former President Donald Trump's press conference previously scheduled for Monday regarding Georgia's 2020 election results -- in which he was expected to provide more unproven claims about voter fraud -- is now canceled.
Trump posted on his Truth Social platform Thursday that the press conference was canceled because his lawyers would prefer putting his allegations "in formal Legal Filings." His campaign subsequently confirmed that the event has been called off. Trump had scheduled the press conference after he and 18 others were charged in a sweeping racketeering indictment for alleged efforts to overturn

Joe Biden raised eyebrows after he told a group of children their 'daddy owes' them and that he would suggest a place for ice cream.
The president made the off-hand remark during an event at the White House on Wednesday.
He had just been introduced to the stage by an energy executive who said his children were in the audience. Biden joked: 'I wanna say one thing to your children: I know some really great ice cream places around here, and daddy owes you. Talk to me afterwards.'

The CIA has been sued for its role in helping to craft a letter from 51 intelligence officials discrediting Hunter Biden's laptop as Russian disinformation.
The letter that was signed by 51 intel officials in 2020 immediately before the presidential election falsely claimed that Hunter Biden's laptop had all the 'classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.'
A Republican report released in May showed that the CIA was actively involved in getting signatures for the letter which 'was a political operation to help elect' Joe Biden in November 2020.

President Joe Biden suddenly changed his tone during a speech Wednesday and started yelling that the US has never failed at “one thing.”
The speech given on Wednesday, following the second anniversary of the catastrophic withdrawal from Afghanistan, was given from the East Room of the White House and was meant to tout the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act, which did anything but that. Nevertheless, Biden is crowing over its delusional success.
As he was bragging about a non-existent win, he pointed to “our friends on the other side of the aisle,” and carped that all he hears from Republicans is how much is wrong

Attorneys for former US President Donald Trump have requested an April 2026 trial date for the federal election interference case, new filings show.
Prosecutors, led by Special Counsel Jack Smith, have asked for a much earlier date of January 2024. Judge Tanya Chutkan is set to rule on the request on August 28.
The decision will crucially place the trial ahead or after next year's presidential elections, in which Trump is the front-runner for the Republican nomination.

Under President Joe Biden’s watch, now more than 1.6 million border crossers are in the United States with unresolved asylum claims. The majority, based on federal data, will have their asylum claims denied.
The data, reviewed and published by Andrew Arthur of the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), reveals the extent to which Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is carrying out an expansive catch and release network, releasing tens of thousands of border crossers into the U.S. interior every month — most with dubious asylum claims.

Los Angeles Times columnist George Skelton floated a scenario that he thinks could cure Democrat woes across multiple elected offices: If Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) retires midterm and Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) appoints Vice President Kamala Harris to her seat, then President Joe Biden can find a more appealing running mate for 2024.
The idea, which Skelton endorsed in his article Thursday but admitted is farfetched, came from an L.A. Times reader, who sent the idea to the columnist. If the unlikely hypothetical scenario ever were to unfold, it would send shockwaves through California and national politics.

Video footage released by the cartel members Tuesday shows childhood friends Roberto Olmeda, 20; Diego Lara, 20; Uriel Galván, 19; Dante Cedillo, 22; and Jaime Martínez, 21, kneeling next to each other in order.
The victims all have their faces bruised with tape over their mouths and their hands tied behind their backs. It is unclear what, if anything, they had done to get on the wrong side of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

Joe Biden justifiably was blasted for his callous "no comment" when asked about the rising death toll in the Maui wildfire on Sunday. Then Biden finally spoke publicly for the first time on Tuesday about the fire, saying that he intended to go to Hawaii. But then he couldn't seem to get the affected area straight, seemingly forgetting that it was Maui. That also doesn't help people think that he's focused or cares about what's going on.
You would think perhaps he'd learned his lesson. But this is Joe Biden, who keeps repeating the same false stories over and over again.

While nobody denies that racist people exist all over the world, including in the U.S., racism in America today is, to a very significant degree, a manufactured problem, crafted by woke Leftists in order to overthrow the American way of life. The Left claims there exists an intolerable, all-pervasive system of white oppression and if you disagree, they will destroy you and may even inflict violence.
The woke tell us that racism has gotten worse, but this is drivel. As I explain in my speech “Racism in America Today,” the less actual racism there is, the more of it the woke Left insists it sees.

The assembling of a compelling and fair response to an infectious viral outbreak is an immense challenge. Ideally, unbiased experts without conflicts of interest develop a survey of potentially effective remedies. The team includes seasoned pathologists, broad-thinking social psychologists, experienced epidemiologists, holistic dieticians, and veteran practitioners of complementary and indigenous medicine.
Imagine a broadly trusted, well-meaning group gathering knowledge, and through consensus, generating recommendations and medical guidelines designed to have the greatest impact towards minimizing suffering. In making the best efforts to evaluate solutions and means of relief, they never lose sight of weighing risks versus benefits.

While Biden is the subject, this one's about his locutionary struggles, for which President Word Smith is legendary.
It occurs to me that we should perhaps first define "locution":
A particular form of expression; a word, phrase, expression, or idiom, especially as used by a particular person, group, etc.; a style of speech or verbal expression; phraseology.

During the inferno that devastated part of the island of Maui, wiping entire towns off the map and possibly killing more than a thousand people (once a full assessment can be made), people on Maui begged state officials to allow West Maui stream water to be diverted to fill up reservoirs for firefighting. That request went to M. By the time the approval was received, workers were unable to reach the siphon release so that the water could be diverted.

Forecasters warn that it’s still too soon to confirm when — or if — Hurricane Hilary might make landfall, and how strong the system could become. The period of 15 months between now and the next presidential election is a vast chasm of what is now commonly called denial. For eight years, since the Trump phenomenon became a political force, a sequence of options has been implemented for removing it. It was initially a subject of hilarity and challenges from late-night television wits to see who could be more acidulous in dismissing the absurdity of a Trump presidential candidacy. (Most of those so-called wits have now been sacked by their networks or reduced by the labor problems in Hollywood to reruns of what was stale programming when first aired;

There really is no other phrase that seems to adequately describe the future for online life in the United States than to describe it through the prism of the previously discussed shadow banning that takes place on the X-platform for specifically wrong-thinking users.
It is important to begin with the end in mind. Perhaps some people are unaware that internet services, meaning the actual experience of using the internet for communication and commerce, are not the same in every nation. In fact, it is quite a different experience depending on where on the globe you are located. The differences are driven by internal controls,

Hurricane Hilary is rapidly intensifying in the Pacific Ocean southwest of Mexico on Thursday and is on track to deliver potentially significant rain and flooding to parts of the Southwest as a weaker system starting this weekend.
Hilary is forecast to grow into a major hurricane later today and could reach Category 4 hurricane strength with winds of at least 130 mph, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center warned.
The hurricane was about 550 miles south-southeast of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Thursday morning, whipping up maximum sustained winds of 85 mph. There remains a wide range of outcomes for the heaviest rain and strongest winds in the US

Many years ago, I wrote about a largely forgotten classic Disney film, “Song of the South.” The 1946 film was innovative in the way the studio combined live action and animation in an effective way, and it won Academy Awards for Best Original Song and an honorary award for star James Baskett — who became the first black man to win an Oscar.
Walt Disney fought hard to make “Song of the South” his way, and he was much more hands-on with it than he had been on a film project in years. It paid off in a style that still looks inventive today.
“Song of the South” also inspired the longtime

Angel Studios, the distributor of Sound of Freedom, announced that investors in the film received a 120% return on their investment thanks to the film’s strong box office showing.
Sound of Freedom’s budget for prints and advertising marketing was supported through Angel Studios’s crowdfunding model. A total of 6,678 people, who are called the Angel Guild, contributed toward the film’s launch. Angel Studios CEO Neal Harmon told the Washington Examiner that those who invested in Sound of Freedom earlier this spring have received $1.20 for every $1 invested.

Allies of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis outlined a strategy for next week's GOP presidential primary debate in a memo encouraging him to defend former President Donald Trump from attacks by rival Chris Christie and call upstart contender Vivek Ramaswamy "fake."
The two-page memo, written by leaders of the pro-DeSantis super PAC Never Back Down, was published to the website of Axiom Strategies and dated Aug. 15. Axiom founder Jeff Roe also leads the pro-DeSantis' super PAC. “Defend Trump when Chris Christie attacks him,” the memo reads, adding a potential line for DeSantis to use on stage in Milwaukee against the former governor of New Jersey: “Trump isn’t here so

Whether former President Donald Trump has bitten off more than he can chew legally remains to be seen, but there is one way the growing number of indictments plays to his advantage.
In the Republican primary, at least, "us" would be those who have doubts about the 2020 election, see the justice system as having been “weaponized” against conservatives in a way it would never be against President Joe Biden or his family, and therefore think the indictments are bogus. The people on the other side of those issues are “them.”
Presidential politics in the 21st century is a Hatfields vs. McCoys feud. Few understand this better than Trump.

The harrowing process of identifying victims of the Maui wildfire could take years, according to a forensic expert who helped at Ground Zero — with fears that children could be a large portion of the dead.
Despite 111 people being confirmed dead by early Thursday — a total expected to still rise considerably — officials have so far only publicly identified five because most were burned beyond recognition. The identification process “could be days if you’re lucky, it could be weeks, it could be months or it could even be a few years,” Dr. Robert Mann, a leading forensic anthropologist heading to Maui to help, told KHON 2.

As difficult as it is to run an independent media outlet, there’s a company making it substantially harder. Its name is NewsGuard. The company claims to rate online content, including from media outlets, for trustworthiness, but a closer look shows it does much more than that—its business model produces censorious pressure on news organizations. An investigation by The Epoch Times has revealed troubling questions regarding the quality of and the agenda behind NewsGuard’s offerings.
Founded in 2018, NewsGuard dispatches its “analysts” to prepare reviews of online content creators and to issue ratings “to help readers have more context for the news they read online.”

Most journalists seem to believe that their job is to promote Joe Biden’s policies, instead of relaying the facts. In a recent segment on CNN, Jake Tapper and guest Ayesha Rascoe could not, for the life of them, understand why the public is not as enamored with Joe Biden’s economic policies as they were. For years the media has told us how compassionate and empathetic Biden is; so what could it be? Well, Rascoe thinks she figured it out, and the problem isn’t that he’s extremely corrupt and incompetent, it’s that people just don’t feel warm and fuzzy about him.

We’ve discussed sporadically about electric cars and how they’re a crock. It’s a vanity project for car manufacturers because no one wants them. Ford only keeps production going because its gas-powered divisions make enough profits to keep this operation going. The car company is losing billions on its push into electric vehicles. Yet, the greenies and environmentally conscious remain gung-ho about these cars even though you must burn fossil fuels to charge them. Energy fairies do not dwell in the charging stations, folks. One man learned that going green is a crock the hard way.

"The Blind Side" author Michael Lewis, whose book based on the life of former NFL player Michael Oher was adapted for the film and was nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars, broke his silence on the drama between the subject and the Tuohy family. Lewis told The Washington Post on Wednesday that no one who was involved in the book saw millions of dollars from the movie. The movie earned nearly $310 million from the box office. In the book, Lewis followed Oher from his upbringing in a poor community, his years at a private school in Tennessee to his alleged adoption by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy.

It's been over a year since the unprecedented raid on former president Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate, and nearly a year since I attended Trump's rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. — his first rally after the raid.
Writing about that day, I called the rally a "pivotal moment in history." One reason I believed this was because the events leading up to and including the raid were hallmarks of oppressive regimes the likes of which America had never witnessed before. Likely referring to the arrest of ex–Trump adviser Peter Navarro and the phone confiscations of Trump associates like Mike Lindell, the Hoover Institution's Victor Davis Hanson said at the time:

If Special Counsel Jack Smith has his way, election integrity as we know it will be a thing of the past, and all election results in the future will be suspect.
I’ve got a particular interest in election integrity. As the leader of Tea Party Patriots Action, I’ve spent the better part of the last two and a half years traveling the country, training tens of thousands of citizens for work as election officials and poll workers.
Our work has been necessitated by the doubts raised about election integrity in recent election cycles. Poll after poll demonstrates Americans’ distrust of our elections.

What's a political prosecution without a little humilation and torture on the side?
Every left-wing dictator knows this, and so does the far-left political prosecution team in Fulton County, Georgia, where yes, they plan to shove President Trump and his 18 co-defendants into a bona fide human rights-violating dump of a prison.
According to the Washington Examiner:
When former President Donald Trump and his 18 co-defendants in the Georgia election case turn themselves in, they will be booked at the notorious Fulton County Jail, a consistently overcrowded, bedbug- and fire ant-ridden detention center

Wherever we drive nowadays, we see electric vehicles (EVs) amid the normal internal combustion cars and hybrids.
(Snip) The modern Left has a dream – that soon, very soon, every vehicle in the world will be electric, running on a heavy, cobalt-laden, lithium battery that needs to be charged up somewhere with electricity derived from an out-of-sight coal plant.
The EV’s current average, we are told, is eight hours to a “full charge,” whatever that means. It might be a couple hundred miles, maybe less, maybe more. Some chargers charge faster, some vehicles take longer. We rarely see the EVs charging up while we fill our normal cars

In the lead-up to the Civil War, pro-slavery and anti-slavery settlers rushed to Kansas to determine whether the Sunflower State would enshrine the “peculiar institution,” releasing a bloodletting that foreshadowed the larger war to come. This year, Kansas finds itself in the middle of a similarly ideological battle, a focal point in a debate about truth with ramifications for justice.
In April, the Republican-majority Kansas Legislature overrode the Democratic governor’s veto of SB 180, the Women’s Bill of Rights. In this bill, the Kansas Legislature had the audacity to define “sex” and related terms in a biological way

Over the summer, media commentators on both the left and right have been discussing Joe Biden's political future. They all largely agree on one thing: Biden is not a viable presidential candidate in 2024. They cite Biden's immense unpopularity due to his disastrous record as president in every field, from the economy to the border to the war in Ukraine. Some cite Biden's physical and mental frailty and the corruption investigations in the House as reasons Biden won't be a 2024 candidate. Others are skeptical that Biden will even finish his current term.

The naturally uneasy relationship between our government and religion has existed since our founding. The founders recognized both the importance of religious morality to the government and the necessity of keeping religious institutions separate from the state. America was run on those principles for a very long time but those days are over, which operates to our detriment.
After 1791, the American people were no longer under the godlike moral authority of a sovereign king and his dictates, for the framers had created a separate government with its sovereign authority vested in its people. However, the people had the responsibility to maintain morality learned mostly from their religious practice and education.

The pages of the Bible are a testament to the downfall of those who plot wicked plans, providing a guidepost for our own battles: "Do the right thing, and risk the consequences." Because, in the end, righteousness prevails. When we were children, bullies would throw sticks and stones and call us names. Today some of those bullies grew up into 'Deep Staters' who brand our truth as conspiracy theories, and their lies as truth. It was a critical moment for McCarthy, the Californian who is viewed warily by conservatives skeptical of his ties to outgoing Speaker John Boehner[.] ... How do we know that Joe Biden has made a verbal blunder? His lips were moving. There are so many slip-ups and absurdities coming out of his mouth that it’s hard to keep up. But one recent gaffe stands out: The president said last week during an interview with the Weather Channel that he had already “practically speaking” declared a climate emergency.
He of course hasn’t, but should he or another president do so, they would in effect also be declaring themselves to be an American kaiser who could issue tyrannical edicts with absolute power. They would be able to autocratically “

We have seen this unfold over and over again in recent years.

A man who gained fame for helping to identify remains of 9/11 victims and those murdered by serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer will head to Maui to help ID remains from last week's deadly wildfires.
Dr. Robert Mann runs the Forensic Science Academy at the Central Identification Laboratory in Oahu, Hawaii, and is set to head to Maui on Thursday to help in identification efforts.
Mann's arrival comes as the death toll rises to 110, but the process of identifying the remains proves agonizingly slow - and Mann warned it could take years.

Once the death toll is finally tallied and the extent of the damages is assessed, there will be investigations into the Maui wildfires. At least, there should be, due to the revelations that the bureaucrats tasked with managing disasters were absolute garbage at their jobs. The island suffered massive brushfires that killed at least 100 people last week. Over 1,000 people are still missing, and whole communities have been destroyed. The damage currently stands at $6 billion, but that’s subject to change, making this one of the deadliest wildfires in over a century.

Former President Donald Trump is dropping a new report on the reported election fraud during the 2020 election. It’ll be around 100 pages, released next Monday morning in Bedminster, New Jersey. Trump described the findings as “conclusive” and “irrefutable.” It doesn’t matter because the Left is going to go apoplectic, especially given the recent indictments against the former president (via NYT):
Hours after former President Donald J. Trump was indicted in Georgia on charges accusing him of a conspiracy to subvert the 2020 election, his aides and allies awoke to a social-media post from the Republican front-runner inviting people to a news conference on Monday.
