Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Thursday he would support “whoever” is running against President Joe Biden in the 2024 general election.
“Special Report” anchor Bret Baier asked Pompeo if he would refuse to support former President Donald Trump if he were the nominee. Trump currently leads Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida in the Real Clear Politics average of polls taken from July 12 to August 6, 54.2% to 15.9%, a margin of 38.3 points, with businessman Vivek Ramaswamy in third place with 6.1%.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is blasting President Biden over the latest bout of soaring gas prices, concluding that this is, again, the direct result of “Bidenomics.”
An August 10 blog post, McCarthy highlighted the fact that millions of Americans are back to “struggling” to fill up their gas tanks thanks to Biden’s poor economic policies. In fact, over the last month, gas prices have gone up 30 cents, McCarthy observed, adding that it is forcing over one-third of Americans to limit their travel.
McCarthy quoted a driver from Wichita, Kansas, who told a local news station that the rising prices are “frustrating because anything that cuts into my pocket means

Barack Obama is often hailed as one of the greatest orators in modern politics. While he had undeniable gifts in that department, as someone who attended a number of his speeches in person, I never quite understood all the praise. Setting aside his career-making “red states, blue states” speech at the 2004 Democratic convention — a plea for political moderation he spent his time in office repudiating — the only memorable things Obama said were either campaign pablum such as “hope and change,” or remarks that were unintentionally revealing.
In the latter category, my personal favorite remark was this comment

The House Oversight Committee under Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has been moving at a rapid speed when it comes to investigating Biden family corruption. Whatever Comer and his committee have done thus far, though, there's more coming, even after they face "obstruction" including but not only from the Biden family. He outlined what's next during his Fox Business appearance on "Morning with Maria" on Thursday morning, as he also went over with host Maria Bartiromo that there does look to be a connection between President Joe Biden from his time as vice president and son Hunter Biden with his shady business dealings.

Truth Or Consequences, N.M. — Virgin Galactic rocketed to the edge of space with its first tourists Thursday, a former British Olympian who bought his ticket 18 years ago and a mother-daughter duo from the Caribbean.
The space plane glided back to a runway landing at Spaceport America in the New Mexico desert, after a brief flight that gave passengers a few minutes of weightlessness.
This first private customer flight had been delayed for years; its success means Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic can now start offering monthly rides, joining Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin and Elon Musk’s SpaceX in the space tourism business.

During that same three-year time period, the city hired 117 new officers, which equates to a net loss of 156 officers and an average net loss of 52 officers over the last three years.
If that trend were to continue, MPD would have fewer than 400 sworn officers. As recent as 2019, MPD had about 900 sworn officers on its payroll.

Britain slept in the 1930s as an inevitable war with Hitler loomed.
A lonely Winston Churchill had only a few courageous partners to oppose the appeasement and incompetence of his conservative colleague Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain.
One of the most stalwart truth-tellers was a now little remembered politico and public servant Leo Amery, a polymath and conservative member of Parliament.
Yet in two iconic moments of outrage against the Chamberlain government’s temporizing, Amery galvanized Britain and helped end the government’s disastrous policies.

Many good people whom I respect tell me that the Marxist left have already won and that there is no longer any point in fighting. I disagree for many reasons, but I will list three:
(1) History is simply saturated with pivotal moments that radically altered what otherwise appeared to be the course of destiny. In fact, I would say that history is really written only when good men and women find their backs against the wall and realize that the only way to preserve their free will is to fight like hell and buck everything that stands against them.

Corporate America’s complete surrender to DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) standards and ESG (environmental, social and governance) efforts is only beginning to be exposed, as cowardly CEOs place greater importance on Corporate Equality Index scores issued by the left-wing Human Rights Campaign than they do the satisfaction of loyal consumers — see Bud Light.
One brand after another is suddenly in the headlines for selling out, sometimes costing them billions of dollars, as seen recently with Target and its “tuck-friendly” swimwear targeting children, and Best Buy seems eager to be next in line it seems.

The walls are closing in around the Bidens. Sworn testimony and bank records show that they accepted at least $20 million from foreign entities during the time Joe was Vice President. These foreign entities are notoriously corrupt ones such as China, Russia, Romania and Ukraine.
Joe’s son was the ringleader, but it was Joe that he was selling. Joe was the “brand” according to sworn testimony. Who else could have been? There’s no conceivable reason for these foreigners to send millions to the Biden family other than to influence the “brand.”

Mayor Eric Adams issued a dire warning to President Biden, cautioning that the lack of federal funding to help the migrant crisis will eventually “decimate” the Big Apple — which serves as the “economic engine” of the country.
Adams slammed border states for creating a “funnel” to New York on “CBS Mornings” Thursday, saying, “New York City is the economic engine of this entire state and country. If you decimate this city, you’re going to decimate the foundation of what’s happening.” That foundation finally began to crumble earlier this month as dozens of migrants were left sleeping on the streets of Midtown outside the intake center at the Roosevelt Hotel

A sudden, unexpected, and devastating fire has destroyed the lovely little heritage town of Lahaina on Maui, which for Hawaii, was also a vibrant tourist destination. Thirty-six people at last count were killed and given that this is early in the catastrophe and communications about evacuations were down early, it may rise. The town and all its historic artifacts, its Front Street promenade, named one of the "top ten greatest streets" by the American Planning Association, are gone. Lahaina's giant banyan tree, planted in 1873, and the largest in the U.S., is subject to on-again, off-again reports about whether it survived the inferno. We still don't know.

A majority of Republican voters in Iowa believe the pursuit of former President Donald Trump by the FBI. and the Department of Justice smacks of Nazi rule in 1930s Germany, according to a new poll for DailyMail.com.
Some 57 percent of respondents said they agreed with the statement: 'The lawlessness of the persecutions of President Trump and his supporters is reminiscent of Nazi Germany in the 1930s.'
It comes after months of attacks on the F.B.I. and the Department of Justice by Trump and his allies, who say he is the victim of an attempt to end his campaign.

At least 36 people have been killed in the Hawaii wildfires with the death roll expected to rise as locals continue to 'pull bodies from the water' in Maui and frantically search for missing relatives.
Maui firefighters are desperately hunting for survivors in the scorched remains of the historic town of Lahaina, which one resident says has nearly been 'wiped off the map'.
All of the victims were in Lahaina, the 'decimated' town where some 271 buildings have been destroyed by the blaze which has ravaged 800 hectares of land, fanned by powerful winds.

An illegal alien, now wanted for allegedly funding terrorism, is among an estimated 1.4 million border crossers and illegal aliens who have been released into the United States through President Joe Biden’s parole pipeline.
In April 2021, the Venezuelan illegal alien crossed the United States–Mexico border near San Luis, Arizona. He was briefly detained by Border Patrol agents, deemed inadmissible, and given a Notice to Appear (NTA) in federal immigration court.
The illegal alien was subsequently released into the U.S. interior thanks to Biden’s parole pipeline that offers migrants a path into American communities despite

There may be no harder job in the U.S. government than Attorney General. What makes it uniquely challenging? On the one hand, the Attorney General is a political position which is responsible for executing the White House’s policy agenda. But on the other, the Attorney General and the Department of Justice he or she leads is responsible for enforcing the law in an even-handed and neutral fashion without partisan considerations.

The United States Women’s National Soccer Team is out of the Women’s World Cup. You couldn’t have missed the story, the media was more invested in the team than some team members appeared to be – hyping their every move. But the dream is over, they lost to Sweden on penalty kicks. While the press laments their defeat, a lot of normal people, myself included, are either engaging in schadenfreude over the loss or desperately fighting the urge to. If you fall into the latter category, let it go. Sometimes schadenfreude is warranted and useful to prevent the need for much more of it in the future.

There’s a group of people who control what you are allowed to see – the news you read, the videos you watch, the posts you engage with.
You haven’t heard of them. You don’t know their names, but they determine, through methods both direct and indirect, whether you are allowed to be exposed to particular messages. Their decisions can bankrupt companies, silence voices and fundamentally shift cultural norms. Who are these people and how do they do this?
Well, at the top level you have a network of global elites who have created a universal framework full of guidelines and ratings designed to enforce “approved” narratives and punish disapproved ones.

The media deification of Barack Obama has really never ended. His election to the presidency in 2008 was treated as a milestone, like man landing on the moon. Allegedly objective journalists lined up in every studio and on every front page to do him homage.
It wasn't journalism. It was more like idolatry. It was like Bryant Gumbel harshly replying in 1989 to new information about Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s adultery. He said, "When the truth collides with a legend, print the legend."
This line came to mind in reading a recent Tablet magazine interview with liberal historian David Garrow, a King specialist.

Never mind the latest indictments. Or any that preceded them. Even though it came out before Donald Trump's latest plunge into the judicial process, the most recent Siena College/New York Times poll suggests two things likely outcomes: that the former president will be the 2024 Republican presidential nominee and that he's just as likely to win the general election as lose. As to the nomination, Trump is campaigning like an incumbent. His 2020 loss to Joe Biden may have looked decisive. But a shift of fewer than 50,000 votes in states like Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin would have put him back in the White House for a second term.

What would Bentsen say today about an economy that – instead of blasting ahead at more than 4% a year at it was in 1988 – is barely eking out gains and appears headed to a downturn … despite the fact that President Joe

It is sometimes said that the prosecutions of former President Donald Trump are "backfiring" on Democrats. That is, instead of lowering Trump's political support, they are raising it. That is indeed happening among Republicans and some independents. But many Democrats still hope the cumulative weight of multiple indictments -- there will soon be four, when the Georgia case is added to the New York case and the two federal cases -- will make it impossible for Trump to win the general election.

We are told climate change is a crisis, and that there is an "overwhelming scientific consensus."
"It's a manufactured consensus," says climate scientist Judith Curry in my new video. She says scientists have an incentive to exaggerate risk to pursue "fame and fortune."She knows about that because she once spread alarm about climate change.
Media loved her when she published a study that seemed to show a dramatic increase in hurricane intensity.
"We found that the percent of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes had doubled," says Curry. "This was picked up by the media," and then climate alarmists realized, "Oh, here is the way to do it.

It’s time for a do-over.
Like you, I am tired of unkept promises and rampant special interests. Faith in government has never been lower. Patriotism is in short supply. I hear a countdown clock ticking off the remaining days of our grand experiment before it becomes ancient history.
Our political process has had the pungent stench of partisanship and self-dealing for too long. From the Chicago political machine to the White House Plumbers, from election shenanigans to measures undertaken in the name of a Covid-19 “emergency,” most Americans realize our political processes have been corrupted. Marxist policies and progressivism are layered over our old politics

More than that, the left immediately leapt on the charge that ADF was a “hate group” because the Southern Poverty Law Center says so. Since they’ve never been wrong, it must be so. Well, almost never.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders quietly funneled $200,000 from his campaign's coffers to his wife's nonprofit institute, which appears to do very little work and pays six figures' worth of compensation to her son, Fox News Digital has found.
The independent senator's committee cut two $100,000 checks to the Sanders Institute for reported charitable contributions in January and March, its Federal Election Commission records show. The expenditures are the largest from the Sanders campaign to any entity this election cycle.
The senator's wife, Jane O'Meara Sanders, and stepson, David Driscoll, co-established the Sanders Institute in 2017 to act as a think tank to promote progressive voices, The Washington Post wrote at its launch.
