In a recent critique, television star and car enthusiast Jeremy Clarkson has voiced serious concerns about the safety of electric vehicles, calling them “bloody dangerous.” His concern goes beyond cars to other devices powered by batteries, like electric bikes. Clarkson writes, “People have died, and that’s not surprising when you learn that a fully charged e-bike contains the same explosive energy as six hand grenades.”
In a recent critique of electric vehicles published in the Sun newspaper, Jeremy Clarkson, known for his forthright opinions on automotive matters, has cited numerous incidents of electric cars and bikes catching fire, including fires on ships carrying electric vehicles.

You'd have to be "stuck on stupid" in other words, a Democrat, to want an EV.

Exactly! This is why my flashlight, my kid's toys and my mom's wheelchair are all powered by gasoline.

Don't worry #1 you will not be allowed to own ANY vehicle.
BTW where are they going to dispose of the EV cars batteries? They NEVER decompose and will leach into the ground and the water table destroying our water system. Also, the blades of the windmills will never decompose either. Which state will be the "disposal state"?

Teslas and other electric cars are vanity toys for rich urban liberals. But it is shocking how many we are starting to see in rural suburban North Carolina—again mostly driven by NY or CA refugee/invaders.

We saw what a disaster it was last fall when the hurricane struck in Southwest Florida. Many cars caught on fire and it took many fire trucks of water to extinguish them. These batteries are lethal and should not be used until they can make them safe. Find some other type of battery. In the meantime, leave us alone to use fossil fuels..

Poster #4 has it right - EVs are for those who will be able to afford them (which won't be many) and the shortage of materials for batteries means that there will be no way to manufacture enough to replace all the ICE vehicles.
The plan is that you will use public transportation, walk, or bike to get around. They can't allow you any of that precious freedom to travel and do what you want. You'll be confined to your "15-minute" zone and will require a "pass" to travel anywhere else. You'll buy what's available to eat (bugs, fake meat, etc.) so long as your "social credit" score allows.
Get out of the cities while you still can...

#3 toys, flashligts and most ubiquitous household paraphenalia are generally powered by dry cell alkaline batteris which cause no danger of spontaneous combustion. But, then there are the laptops and ipads and phones ...with lithium batteries
#5 and taxpayers subsidize those who can afford them

EV batteries are now the biggest cause of domestic fire deaths in NYC. Not car batteries but the electric bike versions in which they deliver your pizza. If you are patient enough you read it in the NYT or see it on CNN!

Before too much longer, e-cars, which were always a bad idea, will of necessity go away because they aren't earth friendly as advertised. Insurance companies are already balking at the unbelievable costs of replacing a damaged or old Li-ion battery that might weigh over a ton. Talk about a fire hazard! When a lot of people in a tunnel or subterranean parking garage perish--it's going to happen--these batteries might even be outlawed. Too dangerous. When will Elon Musk offer gasoline or diesel Teslas? It will happen. Ford and GM, all in for electric, will be among the corporate casualties. The more people learn about electric, the more that market shrinks. Take away the foolish $7,500 federal subsidies, and the market for electric will utterly collapse. It's boutique transportation for the upper classes.

We don't actually know that an EV started the recent ship fire. But, once a single EV was engulfed, there was no way for the crew to fight the fire. They had no ability to quench a metal fire, so the ship was doomed.

It wasn't too long ago (pre-panedmic, so ages and ages ago) that the news media was actually doing stories on the dangers of cell phones catching fire on planes and they (actually) reported that the cause was the lithium batteries in the phone -- even when the phones were turned off. Somehow that hysteria died down pretty quickly because I'm sure some genius in the news room put 2+2 togethere and realized this could lead people to reasonably believe that if this could happen with your cell phone, it most certainly could happen with your non-carbon emitting electrical vehicle. Having an electrical car parked in your garage is like parking a time bomb there. (Also, remember all the hover boards that were catching fire and burning down homes...those stories died down too...hmmmm?)

THAT is the measurement of "explosive energy".
In other words, this article has a stupid premise. If you want to explode a car you can vaporize the gas in an oxygenated atmosphere and ignite that! Or put something in the fuel to cause it to spontaneously oxidize. Talk about hand grenades! I've never heard of a lithium battery exploding. They do burn violently.

The manufacturer's of many these electric cars explicitly say to not park them in an attached garage.
IMO, the range is a serious problem, and the time required for charging makes them an absolute non-starter for anything beyond an around-town commuter toy.
Add in the explosive potential and this is a technology which has been forever 30 years in the future, starting in 1881 when they first came out and people started dreaming "in 30 years, when they develop better batteries......"
It's been over 140 years since the first electric vehicle drove down a road in Paris, and they are still 'technology of the future', and will forever remains so until the Mr Fusion like the movie "Back to the Future, Pat II" is available, electric cars are unworkable. And Mr. Fusion is pretty much permanently in the category of wonderful devices that will forever be fictional.

ICE cars do, and have caught fire, but fire crews can put them out safely. Let's say that an ICE car catches fire in a garage and there are EVs next to or near it. The fire is likely to get many factors worse.
And yes: EVs do explode and spew fire everywhere. Check Youtube for the exploding E busses.
