A project to build a national museum of Latino history and culture is up in the air amid a dispute over the museum’s contents that has cast its funding prospects into the larger fight over the fiscal 2024 budget.
The House Appropriations Committee on Wednesday approved an interior and environment funding bill that bans the federal government from spending any taxpayer money on the National Museum of the American Latino, part of the Smithsonian Institution, which was approved by Congress in 2020.
With zero funding for a project that’s been a core priority for many U.S. Latinos,

The mistake is in attempting to divide the past by race. History is world history and the original six buildings depicted that. When the AA hut was built it had one or two vases and paintings on each floor, that was it. Their history began when the first slave ships left from Madagascar. One could walk through it in fifteen minutes. Latino history began about six hundred years ago when Spain set out to conquer the world, that one may be a little larger.

None of Latinos I know here in Texas have even heard of it. Not a core priority when Xiden is making it harder to buy food.

Maybe they can get the Sinaloa cartel to financially sponsor the museum?

Yeah because you know their motherland..... Mexico, Chile, Cuba etc gave mankind so much and they brought it to the New World to further expand their culture of enlightenment of comity and justice for all. Leaving their tribal instincts at the door.

A "hate whitey" museum is a very bad idea. The previous 'hate whitey' museum is a place I have sworn to NEVER visit....some sort of black museum.
Very devisive, very hateful.....evil.

Creating the second Affirmative Action Museum....how the Dems are totally wrecking what was one of my favorite reasons to go to DC.
I started riding the bus from the Northern Virginia suburbs into DC on Saturdays to go to the Smithsonian museums in 1966, so that's getting close to 60 years ago, when they did a wonderful PRO AMERICAN job of making the museum collections. My brother and I loved spending a whole day just wandering the museums and learning about new and amazing things and history. When I first went to the Air and Space Museum, it was literally a quonset hut in an empty block, with a small concrete pad outside with three full sized missiles, IIRC a Redstone, and a couple of smaller ones. The Wright Brothers' wind tunnel was one of perhaps three dozen small exhibits and one aircraft, Willie Post's Winnie May, and his first pressure suit for high altitude.
Sadly, they now divide us by race and ethnicity and create "Affirmative Action Museums"....where they can put stuff that isn't important enough to rate for the whole nation....but is important enough for a minority.
Like "the biggest trout caught by a black man" (kidding) or the "first use of a steam engine by a Latino"......even if the trout wasn't the biggest ever, or the Latino used the steam engine five years after some white guy.
Fake museums full of fake "accomplishments" which don't actually rate on the overall scale, only on the affirmative action scale. This is hateful, racist and divisive. But that's the Dems, isn't it?
Like hiring the "best black accountant available", even though he is far less capable and had lower grades than four other candidates. Or promoting the "Best Female Admiral Available" to be head of the joint chiefs....not the best person....the Best Female. Hateful.
Affirmative Action in museums is just as bad as affirmative action is anywhere else.
