Can Justice Sonia Sotomayor refer us to her investment counselor? The wise Latina's finances have done rather well since joining SCOTUS. This is the story: Sonia Sotomayor's net worth has increased significantly since joining the nation's highest court, according to financial disclosure forms amid new revelations about the Supreme Court justice's efforts to promote her books. Sotomayor was nominated by then-President Barack Obama to join the Supreme Court in 2009. At the time, her wealth was a small fraction of what it is now. In 2007, the sum of Sotomayor's total investments was between $50,001 and $115,000, according to her financial disclosure form for that year.

Promoting her books - isn't there something in the U.S. Code about using public office for private gain?

Her taxpayer funded "Staff" are also hawking her POS books for sale at her paid public appearances AND doing it on OUR time! As always, this smacks of a "pay for play" scheme between "Big Publishing" and the Federal government which pushes millions of dollars into the bank accounts of the "poor, but liberal" Public Servants.

As I recall Speaker of the House Jim Wright was becoming wealthy writing books until it was discovered labor unions were the ones buying them and putting them in storage. The good voters of Tarrant County Texas voted him out of office. Those kind of voters are hard to find these days

Like Pelosi's insider trading, what this justice did was not illegal, but very unethical. That being said, you cannot shame a Dem. Roberts should put some ethics rules in place and call them The Latina Laws.

Come on, don't we know by now that politics for the left means get rich quick and by any means necessary? That's why politics were created. They're incompetent anywhere else. Outside of infiltrations everywhere they can infiltrate and where they can steal everything not nailed down while providing no substance. They best know how to steal, kill, and destroy. Just like their daddy.

Special counsel Jack Smith in recent weeks transmitted a target letter to the staffer indicating that he might have perjured himself during a May appearance before the federal grand jury hearing evidence in the classified documents probe, the sources told ABC News.CORRECTION*
Electric Cars Are a Scam 13 replies

The left likes to treat skeptics of electrical cars as if they were Luddites. Truth is, making an existing product less efficient but more expensive doesn't really meet the definition of innovation.Even the purported amenities and technological advances EV makers like to brag about in their ads have been a regular feature of gas-powered vehicles going back generations. At best, EVs, if they fulfill their promise, are a lateral technology. This is why there is no real "emerging market" for EVs in the United States as much as there's an industrial policy in place that props up EVs with government purchases, propaganda, state subsidies, cronyism, taxpayer-backed loans, and edicts.

GUATEMALA CITY — Guatemala sank deeper into political turmoil Thursday as the country’s top prosecutors raided the headquarters of the electoral authority just hours after it certified the results of the June 25 presidential election. The move by the Attorney General’s Office appeared aimed at stopping a progressive candidate whose campaign platform is eliminating corruption, and it immediately sparked objections from within and outside Guatemala. U.S. officials called it a threat to the country’s democracy. The raid came immediately on the heels of special prosecutor Rafael Curruchiche’s announcement Wednesday that a judge had agreed to suspend the legal status of candidate Bernardo Arévalo’s Seed Movement party.

One of the most important observations in the Donald Trump era of American politics — now celebrating its eighth anniversary — came in the book “The Divider,” by Susan Glasser and Peter Baker. It concerns Trump’s early relationship with Fox News and its founder Roger Ailes. “What Ailes saw in Trump that he did not see in any other Republican politician of recent years,” Glasser and Baker write, “was someone who connected with the Fox audience even more than Fox did.” This was the early days, after Trump had ascended to the forefront of Republican primary polling in July 2015.

The Biden administration announced Friday that it would forgive $39 billion in student loans for 804,000 borrowers, explaining it had pursued certain fixes to existing income-driven-repayment plans. “For far too long, borrowers fell through the cracks of a broken system that failed to keep accurate track of their progress towards forgiveness,” Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said in a written statement. These income-driven plans set a forgiveness threshold of 20 or 25 years. Borrowers must make payments that qualify over this period — payments that can be as low as $0 based on an individual’s income and family situation. “By fixing past administrative failures, we are ensuring everyone gets the forgiveness they deserve,

Last night, Fox News host Jessie Watters, like the rest of the nation, couldn’t stomach the United States Secret Service’s conclusion that it couldn’t figure out who brought cocaine into the White House. The law enforcement agency has the names of 500 individuals in or around the vestibule where the drugs were discovered, but supposedly no video evidence that can zero in on a person of interest. Due to the lack of a solid suspect, the agency is closing its investigation. Katie had more on this yesterday. She included the statement from the Secret Service:

Ron DeSantis’s once-vaunted presidential bid is in freefall. In the latest ominous sign for the Florida governor, Rupert Murdoch’s media empire appears to be distancing itself from his candidacy, with once-supportive outlets from Fox News and the New York Post to The Wall Street Journal highlighting his flagging poll numbers, his policy inconsistencies, and his cringeworthy attempts to connect with voters in key primary states. Should the DeSantis campaign fizzle out, comparisons with previous GOP stars-turned-flops like Jeb Bush, his predecessor in Tallahassee, are inevitable. But a more revealing analogy for DeSantis is to the most disappointing candidacy in the 2020 Democratic field: that of Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

Kerry has been in his role since January 2021. Since that time his office has said that he reports simply and solely to the President. During his time in office he has jetted around the world to explain why other people shouldn’t use jets.
