Journalist and filmmaker Mike Cernovich, who was an early supporter of Ron DeSantis and a vocal critic of President Trump, tried to assist the DeSantis campaign in formulating a viable strategy to counter Trump and run a successful 2024 campaign against him. However, he claims that his advice was either disregarded or implemented too late, leading to missed opportunities. Mike made this revelation while responding to a tweet from a follower asking him if DeSantis could pick up steam. Mike response starts with “No,” and then he goes on to explain more.

I too am sorry that desantis went for politics instead of the USA. I think we all know the biggest problems facing the USA and Trump has dragged them out into the open and is openly fighting against them. Some seem to think it's bad that it seems to be personal for him. Why would that be bad? First of all, it was all done to him personally, and second some personal involvement is great, too much maybe not, but waiting for perfection is a losing game.
To the extent that Desantis opposed Trump, he opposed the USA, and he crafted a political strategy with Trump haters according to this article- who are definitely anti-USA types- either through blindness or worse.
DeSantis should have aligned himself with Trump, recognized Trump's position in all this, and fought for the USA. Instead of fighting a political battle for himself. Talking about personal.

At this point in time it is like watching the race horses parade before entering the starting gate. A great deal will happen between now and election day. DeSantis has been great on the national stage and especially for Florida. I fear that if he fizzles out in a bid presidential bid Florida will be setting itself up for a pivot away from what he has accomplished.

The big elephant in the room is that if Trump wants it, there is no viable strategy against him. A Republican cannot resort to fraud and rigging the way the Democrats are planning to.

DeSantis and his team made their bed and got cozy with the RINOs and the never-Trump crowd. DeSantis got in bed with a bunch of establishment complainers whose little fiefdoms feel threatened by Mr. Trump.
While I have nothing against the guy, DeSantis' place in politics in the near-term should have been to continue upholding his re-election pledge to represent the citizens of Florida as governor. And to hold open an endorsement of President Trump while acknowledging the evil lawfare being used to destroy Trump. At the least, DeSantis could have positioned himself as a serious vp prospect if Trump so desired. At the most, he could have positioned himself as a future President regardless of what happens or doesn't happen legally to Trump. But like I said, it is only July 2023 for cripe's sake.

Imagine that. A journalist and film maker (?) says DeS wouldn't listen to advisors.

While I agree with most of the above comments, the nail in DeSantis' coffin for me was that he's being advised by Heb! Bush. After GWB's disastrous presidency, I vowed that I was done with the Globalist Bushes. Nothing that has happened since has changed my mind. In fact their behavior has hardened my resolve - the Bushes cozying up to the Clintons and the Obamas while shunning Trump tells me everything I need to know about them - they're Uniparty if not Dems under the skin.
If DeSantis is this tone deaf as a candidate, imagine what a disaster he'd be as POTUS.

As a Florida Resident I love his governance generally, though he has been running for President even before he was elected Govenor, resulting in many issues that only look good on paper statewide- Insurance market is in deep crisis, College admission and curriculum of state colleges wildly liberal and discriminatory.
His bigger issue is his strong ties to traditional republican machine. This is why he follows the Never Trumpers. He follows the machine because he lacks that inner confidence and spark, so needs the machine to support his moves. And this comes across as wooden and ingenuine.

I don't know who would win a primary, but if the choice is DeS and a Democrat in the general, I know what I'd do.
Unfortunately, that's always the case.

If someone here could put forth a single example of DeSantis caving in to evil forces during the course of his governorship - a single policy example, not a vague allegation by some internet crackpot - I'd like to hear it.

Biggest mistake he made was allowing those awful ads claiming God selected him to save America and that he would be Jesus' disciple. No wonder Trump calls him sanctimonius. Bad, bad.Conservative Treehouse's Sundance says that DeSantis has been planning this run since 2016

Looked at the calendar - It's 2023 and the elections aren't until 2024. All these so-called experts flapping their gums like geese and ducks wagging their tails and you know what comes out of a geese and duck's rear end. Besides the elections are already pre-determined.

#9, you make a great case for DeSantis remaining governor of Florida.

#9 and I are on the same page. To the posters who say DeSantis is a Bushie, please post some proof of that. I prefer going by what DeSantis has done straightening out Florida and making it a true red state. I kind of doubt that he would all of a sudden turn left or wishy-washy, but I guess anything is possible. As for our nominee, any of them should be out there every day telling Americans how they will govern to get rid of Biden’s messes. Will Trump do more of that, or will he continue to talk as much about a stolen election and how overrated DeSantis is. All of them need to work on stopping the democrats from stealing another election with their usual tricks.

# 13, you're right about that. And this Floridian was somewhat distressed to see him go for the gold this time around. But now that he is in it let us judge him fairly, on the record, without resorting to conspiratorial internet babble.
And # 10, I don't watch TV and am not familiar with the ads to which you refer, but what difference do they really make? We are now in the political version of the playoffs, and it's a brand new season. And as far as what Sundance says, well, the loudmouth at the corner saloon has just as much influence on the course of the 2024 primaries.

I take no pleasure in articles like this. I liked Ron DeSantis immensely and felt he had a very bright future ahead of him. But, he aligned himself with the Lincoln Project types who hate Trump and the conservative base. Did they think we wouldn’t notice?
