Twenty House Republicans joined with Democrats to table a resolution that would have censured and fined Democratic California Rep. Adam Schiff.
The resolution, introduced by Republican Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, asserts that Schiff “purposely deceived his Committee, Congress, and the American people” during the special counsel investigation into former President Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. It would have fined him $16 million, half the special counsel investigation’s cost.

Kevin McCarthy allowed these "R's" to vote FOR Schiff.

I'm sure that if the parties were reversed, the Democrats would have been just as supportive of a colleague across the aisle.

Call them Rinos if you like. These are people, like Schiff himself, without morals or any sense of right and wrong. They only ran for office to feather their own nests. They hate Trump because he threatens to upset the apple cart and "drain the swamp." Many of them come into office with moderate means and leave multi-millionaires like the Biden's, Obama's, Cinton's and many others, who retire with their ill-gotten wealth gained at the expense of those fools who continue to vote for them..

There is but one political party in the US, the corporate party. The dems are merely its left arm and the repubs are merely its right arm.

Tom McClintock, whom the Conservatives here used to think was a real hero. They didn’t know him. Many of us in California knew better. He has done nothing for Conservatism in California. A cold loner, formed no alliances - though apparently Schff is a pal. Swell. He keeps beong reelected by his same little safe Republican district.

We call them RINOs as if they’re atypical, but it seems like most Rs end up folding this way. With copious amounts of arrogance and self-righteousness. They must all be wearing a manic Joe Biden smile while watching conservatives voting for them, knowing that they’re going to screw them over the first chance they get.

too right #8. if i knew how to type better than columbus, i'd do 22motions + 1 motion for our beloved speaker-daily, plus 2x on sunday.
stacks of these would be ready for: fishing season, deer season, duck and goose and grouse season, christmas shopping season...
in fact, it would be difficult for these gits to avoid such little cheery notices for opening day of rino season.

Why was Kevin McCarthy unable to control them or threaten these low lives to stay with the party votes? He didn't do his job and should take full responsibility for this disaster.

Redo the censure vote without the fine, but prohibit him from serving on any committees instead. He convicted himself when he said publicly that he had seen the evidence of 'Russia collusion with his own eyes.' It's very difficult to see something that did not exist. He therefore should not be allowed to participate except on the floor of the House when it is in session. Requiring him to wear a dunce cap would be fitting, but would only make him more visible.

I found the names immediately in a quick Google search this a.m. and I think it is incumbent on voters in their districts to remember the names---or even email their displeasure. Schiff was such an egregious liar and was all over the tv screen spewing his "facts"---that the evidence was in "plain sight" etc. On and on. You have got to wonder what these Republicans have hidden in THEIR closets to vote this way.......they at least need to explain themselves!!!!!!

#22, I understand what you are saying. However, what makes you think that by doing this it would encourage democrats to do the same when they are in the majority? They need zero encouragement because they ignore any precedent that thwarts their agenda. It’s time Republicans stood on principle and let go of their politically driven motivations. Just do the right thing and if anyone knowingly lied to the American people with the intent of destroying a sitting President, it was this googley-eyed pathological deceiver. He is a son of Satan, the father of lies. Quit protecting the ones trying to destroy the Republic. Also put your own sanctimonious ego down in order to do what is right. Geesh, how did you get elected in the first place? You are a bunch of self-serving weasels! Just do what is right.

It appears what they objected to was the provision in the resolution that would ding Schiff for $16 million, viewing that as gross overreach. She will bring a new motion without the $16 million penalty. The REAL test will be how they handle that new one with their exciuse for opposition to it removed. Could actually be an interesting strategy, doing it in two steps, because the issue is now on everyone's radar.

Speaking of that sellout Rino here in Idaho, the Eastern side of Idaho is much more Swampy, which does not excuse old Simpson, but that's where the Establishment Republicans live. Follow the money.

Every Congressional politician lies, deceives, and surfs the waves of artifice, to one degree or another. I don't countenance it, nor do I blind myself to it. Republican legislators at the state level are notorious for overdoing and overstating their proposed legislative bills, wielding hammers to swat gnats. If I were a congressman this instance, I would not have voted to table this resolution, I would have voted to hammer Schiff.
I'm not confident however, that imposing a $16,000,000 fine on Schiff is even constitutional. The judicial branch of government clearly has the power to impose fines; the administrative swamp has often had its imposed fines upheld by the courts, but many fines have been swatted down by the courts as unrealistic overkill. I personally think the sponsor of this resolution, Republican Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, is to blame for overreaching with the size of the fine. I understand that it is reasonable, given the damage and cost to the country resulting from Schiff's entirely dishonest treachery. However, her resolution would not have been tabled had she wielded a scalpel instead of a machete. Shrewd politics is the art of the possible. Idealism is commendable. But in legislation, pragmatism usually trumps idealism.

You can Censure Mr. Schiff five days a week for the next 52 weeks. You can Fine him, likewise. Your chances of his abiding by the censure or paying the fine are about like the chance of a snowball in Hell.

As #29 posted, they should take the monitory fine out of the resolution and run it through again. Then if a bunch of wimpy Republicans vote the new resolution down, they will certainly be flashing their RINO and UniParty covert agenda.
