The House of Representatives on Wednesday voted against the idea of censuring and condemning Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., for insisting that former President Donald Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.
In a 225-196 vote, lawmakers decided to set aside the censure resolution against Schiff, effectively killing it and preventing a vote on passage. The resolution, introduced by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., was opposed by 20 Republicans as two other GOP lawmakers voted "present" along with five Democrats.
The resolution was known to be on shaky ground with some Republicans. One expected "no" vote, Rep. Tom Massie, R-Ky., said he opposed the idea of a fine against Schiff

HAMTRAMCK, Mich. — A Detroit-area community has banned LGBTQ+ flags from publicly owned poles after a tense hours long meeting that raised questions about discrimination, religion and the city’s reputation for welcoming newcomers. In protest, a woman speaking during the public comment portion of the Hamtramck City Council meeting kissed a woman standing next to her Tuesday night. (Snip) Hamtramck, population 27,000, is an enclave surrounded by Detroit. Middle schoolers in Massachusetts were accused of “intolerance and homophobia” after they reportedly revolted against a Pride celebration at the school and chanted that their pronouns were “USA.”
Some students at Marshall Simonds Middle School in Burlington were accused of organizing a protest against a school-approved spirit day celebrating Pride Month, which encouraged students to wear rainbow colors, earlier this month. The event was led by the Spectrum Club, an LGBT club for students and “allies.” In response, some students reportedly wore only red, white, and blue colored clothing and chanted, “U.S.A. are my pronouns,” and took down LGBT-themed banners and stickers.

FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate admitted during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday that the FBI redacted any mention of audio recordings of Joe and Hunter Biden in a document shown last week to Republican lawmakers in which an FBI informant alleged the Bidens were involved in a bribery scheme around 2015 and 2016. (snip) Grassley said, when the document was made available to the House Oversight Committee last week under pressure from Republicans, the references to the audio recordings had been deleted.

Twenty House Republicans joined with Democrats to table a resolution that would have censured and fined Democratic California Rep. Adam Schiff.
The resolution, introduced by Republican Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, asserts that Schiff “purposely deceived his Committee, Congress, and the American people” during the special counsel investigation into former President Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. It would have fined him $16 million, half the special counsel investigation’s cost.

A new law in Illinois soon requires electric vehicle charging stations in the garage of new or renovated homes. Critics say this will increase costs. (Snip) Within 90 days of the effective date of the act, all large multifamily building permits shall require all parking to be EV-capable. Two years after the effective date, there are similar requirements on other residential buildings.
Gabel said the cost would be under $1,000 for the setup in these homes. However, state Rep. Dan Swanson, R-Alpha, said other costs are not accounted for. "It requires a 200 amp service," Swanson said. "That will require additional costs

The Department of Defense (DOD) created a Pride-themed coloring book for military kids amid a cross-military service push to celebrate Pride month. (snip) The activity booklet is geared toward younger audiences, according to DOD’s Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI), which is noted on the final page as having published the book, and was promoted to children by other DOD entities, the Daily Caller News Foundation found.
The coloring book, dated in June, appears to be among various training and awareness materials the Pentagon created to aid Pride observances, which are featured on the dedicated DEOMI webpage.

Ajay Banga, the Biden-appointed president of the World Bank, promised to “push” the financial institution to its limits to combat climate change in an interview with Reuters late Tuesday.
While Banga said he would not take any actions that would threaten the global financier’s “AAA” credit rating, he said that he would leverage the bank’s balance sheet “as hard as you can” to address climate issues, Reuters reported. Members of the Biden administration, notably including Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and President Joe Biden himself, and climate activists have — at times over the objections of developing nations — called for Banga to shift the bank’s focus from combating poverty to additionally

A grand jury has indicted former U.S. Marine Daniel Penny in connection with the chokehold death of Jordan Neely aboard a subway train.
The exact charges will not be unsealed until Penny appears in court at a later date, the sources said. Penny was initially arrested on a second-degree manslaughter charge. Video showed Penny, 24, putting Neely in a chokehold on May 1. Several witnesses observed Neely making threats, assistant district attorney Joshua Steinglass told the judge.
Some witnesses told police that Neely was yelling and harassing passengers

US grocery prices ticked up in May after dipping in March and April. Inflation in America continued to fall significantly, but rising prices at the supermarket is unwelcome news to those struggling to pay for food.
From April to May, adjusted for seasonal swings, grocery prices got 0.1% more expensive, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Consumer Price Index, a key measure of inflation. Menu items got 0.5% in that time.
Overall, grocery prices were 5.8% more expensive in May than they were a year ago. Menu prices have risen 8.3% over the past year. Together, food prices jumped 6.7% throughout the year, once again outpacing overall annual inflation

Paul F. Ryan declared on Black Tuesday that the federal indictment of former president Trump makes Trump unelectable in 2024.
I hasten to put this backstabbing comment into context. Last November, Ryan predicted that Mr. Trump would lose the 2024 presidential election. Earlier this year, Ryan announced that if the former president is the Republican candidate in 2024, he will not go to the party's convention, to be held in Milwaukee, this July. Ryan is from Wisconsin.
It should also be noted that in October 2016, Ryan declared that he will not campaign for, nor defend, Mr. Trump, then the GOP presidential candidate.

Can California transition to a portfolio of 100% renewable energy sources and still generate enough electricity to meet the state’s future needs, including the addition of millions of electric cars on the road? Using the state’s historical trends to project forward, the answer to these questions is no. Californians will face acute electricity shortages soon if policymakers insist on implementing its current suite of policies.
California is already incapable of generating enough electricity, importing 30% of its current electricity needs from other states. With respect to current generation sources, nearly 60% of California’s
