Former President Trump’s Republican primary competitors scrambled to respond to the freshly unsealed federal indictment threatening him with up to 400 years in prison — with reactions ranging from full-throated defense to outright condemnation.
Former Vice President Mike Pence spoke warmly of his ex-boss Saturday as he addressed a friendly crowd of Republicans at North Carolina’s state GOP convention, saying he “couldn’t have been more proud to stand shoulder to shoulder every single day with President Donald Trump” during their single term in office.
Pence condemned the Department of Justice for its “politicization,” calling Trump’s indictment “a sad day for America.”

Way too little, way too late! If Pence had stepped up to deal with the fraud election, millions of people would now have a better life, as President Trump could have continued Making America Great, Wealthy, Proud, and SAFE. Pence has been a major disappointment.

It's easy to separate the wheat from the chaff from any who don't strongly renounce this tragedy of the weaponized justice system. Like RINO McConnel has been totally silent to N.J. Gov. Krispy Kreme Christie who blistered Trump over the indictment.

They are all glad that he is being illegally and unfairly prosecuted / persecuted.
It is just that the smarter ones among them realize that the same lawfare could be used against them, so they are against the process in general, not against the use of it specifically against their enemy Trump.

Those wimpy Republicans who are not standing up to support Trump have no chance to win the Republican nomination, because a majority of Republican voters are Trump supporters.

They might do well to realize all the illegal shenanigans going on to Trump could just as easily be directed to them, in a heartbeat. What they are trying to get away with now is setting precedent for every politician from now on.

Strip the title of Republican candidate and think of this purely in terms of their personal principles regarding what is right and what is wrong. Their candidacy should have nothing to do with this issue. It is a straight up matter of absolutely lawlessness of this heinous cabal. These fools who are aiding and abetting democrats by failing to call this what it is have zero integrity. This is a matter of fairness, equality under the law and a weaponized department of justice. Period. It is all about right and wrong and if any of these Republican candidates cannot put aside political rivalry at this time to denounce malicious prosecution by democrats, they are unworthy to hold the office of dog catcher much less POTUS.

Amen everyone. The real crimes were, to list a few, Impeachments ##1 and 2, Russia Russia Russia, The Mueller Ghost Signed report, the riots at the 2016 inauguration and spring and summer of 2020 and Kamel A Hairass's call for more violence "up to and beyond" election day 2020, the attempted assassination of a Supreme Court Justice and overt threats against them, the january 6 persecutions and murders, the abuse of power by the FBI, CIA and DoJ.
Anyone - ANYONE - who dismisses these abuses and who is not outraged by them and their ultimate manifestations in the form of indictments against a former president and current front running candidate is missing the big picture- that we are becoming a banana republic. That person is not fit to hold office: they just want to redecorate their new office on the titanic.

They've got a death wish. No Republican should waver on the political persecution aspect of Trump's indictment. Those who do waver will out themselves as cowards or obfuscators.

Pence may be a nice guy but the old adage "nice guys finish last" applies solidly in his case. We need people with courage and conviction, both of which are foreign to Mikey. He should go start a vegetable garden back in Indiana or something else within his very limited bailiwick.

Pence had his chance for glory on Jan 6, 2021. And he blew it. The eagerness with which he followed the Seargent-At-Arms out of the chamber behind Pelosi and Schumer, knowing fully well he will come back as a powerless potted plant, says it all.

How strange that some Republican leaders are so quick to believe senseless and politically-generated accusations before they understand the truth. Pence and Romney are hoping to move up the ladder of power with their remarks. They actually embrace Biden’s administration with all the lies and contemptible plays and they are just too blind to see it all. A pox on them.

Pandering Pence. He was railing against Trump only a few days ago. He’s not helping himself - he’s just making himself look more desperate and more like the Judas that he is.

We are seeing the weaponization of our justice system to target an opposition candidate. Any Republican wannabe who is not willing to join the fight against this looming tyranny is not worthy of being President. Campaigning can wait.
Asa and Chris, you have shamed yourselves. You can shrink off the field now, or later.

Remember Pence when faced with pressure from the LGBLQXYZ crowd when he was governor, he caved?
What a president he would be! At the first sign of political pressure, this guy would fold like a cheap deck of cards.
I think Pence is running for president either for ego or money. This will backfire. No one wants a weenie for a president.

If Trump withdraws or is put into January 6th prison, Pence and Christie's chances go from 0 to 1 in a thousand.
