The Justice Department’s indictment of former President Donald Trump is still all the rage on the airwaves and interwebs. Members of the chattering class have been chiming in, giving their two cents on the matter. Renowned Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz recently offered his opinion on the case during an appearance on Newsmax in which he indicated that Trump’s situation is precarious, but his fate isn’t necessarily sealed.
According to Dershowitz, the indictment against Donald Trump is partly serious and partly expected, as possessing classified material may not be damning due to potential defenses under the Presidential Records Act. However,

China has been spying on the United States from a base in Cuba, a Biden administration official said on Saturday, claiming that “this is an issue that this administration inherited.”
The Wall Street Journal, followed by POLITICO and other outlets, reported on Thursday that China had been in conversations with Havana to establish a new spy base in the island nation. That same day, the White House and the Pentagon said the reporting was “inaccurate,” without going into details. On Saturday, an administration official clarified by saying that the Chinese base in Cuba has already been established, noting that it didn’t happen on their watch.

Theodore "Ted" Kaczynski, the man known as the "Unabomber," has died in federal prison at age 81.
He was found unresponsive in his North Carolina prison cell Saturday morning and was pronounced dead at about 8 a.m. Saturday, Kristie Breshears, a spokesperson for the Bureau of Prisons confirmed to USA TODAY. A cause of death was not immediately known. He was serving a life sentence after sending by mail a series of homemade bombs around the country. He pleaded guilty to setting 16 explosions that killed three people and injured 23 others.
Kaczynski had been transferred from a Supermax prison in Colorado to a federal prison medical facility

On Friday’s broadcast of Fox News Radio’s “Guy Benson Show,” author, National Review Contributing Editor, Fox News Contributor, and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew McCarthy stated that while former President Donald Trump does have ample reason to say he’s been singled out, the indictment against him is “a devastating document. If they can prove half of it, he’s toast.” And he believes more than half of what’s in the indictment can be proven.
McCarthy stated, [relevant remarks begin around 35:35] “It’s a devastating document. If they can prove half of it, he’s toast. And I sense that they can probably prove more than half of it, because a lot

The United Kingdom’s National Health Service announced on Friday it plans to ban puberty blockers outside of the use of clinical trials as well as increasingly to regulate gender transition treatments for minors.
“We have previously made clear … the intention that the NHS will only commission puberty suppressing hormones as part of clinical research,” the NHS announcement said. The 25-page document for U.K. practitioners specifies that the NHS “will adopt a holistic, multi-disciplinary integrated approach to assessing and responding to an individual’s needs”

Wow. The entire Trump classified documents story really took some wild turns on my day off, none of them involving any good news. As Ed pointed out yesterday, the charges against the former President are far more damning than we had originally imagined. In fact, even with a Trump-appointed judge hearing it, Trump’s lawyers may be unable to get the charges dismissed and he could well be convicted… eventually. (That may become important later.)
I understand why Beege is angry and frustrated over this. Trump did this to himself and allowed himself to be taped while admitting he knew it was wrong. But the lopsided claims

Just how serious is the bill of charges that Donald Trump will face on Tuesday? “These are hits below the water line,” Jonathan Turley tells Fox News this afternoon after the surprise unsealing of the 38-charge indictment against Trump. “This is not an indictment that you can dismiss.”
You can bet that Trump’s legal team will literally attempt that on Tuesday, but Turley cautions that special counsel Jack Smith put a lot of effort in making sure it will stand. And not just in court, either: So did locating an e-mail server in a Chappaqua bathroom. But I’m getting ahead of myself …
You can find the indictment here, although

Now this is interesting.
According to the Public Religion Research Institute, Americans’ attitudes to the alphabet ideology have been hardening, and the numbers don’t look so good if you are a proponent of the madness.
PRRI polled more than 5000 Americans–a huge sample for a poll, and one for which a ton of money had to be paid–and there has been a significant shift away from the basic tenets of the gender ideology that has been shoved down our throats by everybody in the Establishment over the past couple of years.
Political debates about gender identity have become heated in recent years, as some state legislatures have increasingly sought to restrict transgender rights.

The Justice Department special counsel who filed charges against former President Donald Trump says in his first public statement that the country has “one set of laws” and that they apply to everyone.
Jack Smith delivered a two-minute statement Friday, soon after the department unsealed a 37-count indictment against Trump that accuses him of mishandling classified information. Smith said prosecutors would seek a speedy trial. The case was filed in Florida.
The indictment unsealed Friday alleges that Trump described a Pentagon “plan of attack” and shared a classified map related to a military operation.

Joe Biden all but delivered the Republican nomination for president to Donald Trump on a silver platter when Merrick Garland indicted Trump on Thursday. Biden has turned America into a Banana Republic with his latest dirty political trick against Trump. Indicting the opposition party’s strongest candidate against him, Biden acted as any third world dictator would. He is trying his best to take out his challenger as the primary competition barely gets underway.
Be sure to read Ed’s post on this topic. He goes into the alleged charges against Trump. I’m not doing that.
This is some deeply corrupt stuff that is being carried out by a deeply corrupt president.

Washington — The historic federal indictment filed against former President Donald Trump was made public Friday, detailing the charges the former president is facing related to his handling of sensitive government records after leaving the White House.
The 44-page indictment filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida alleges that Trump "endeavored to obstruct the FBI and grand jury investigations and conceal retention of classified documents." The indictment names Walt Nauta, an aide to Trump who served as a White House valet, as a co-conspirator. The indictment lists 37 counts in all against Trump:
31 counts of willful retention of classified documents

As RedState reported (and as prior reports indicated), Donald Trump was indicted for a second time on Thursday, this time by the DOJ for alleged violations of the Espionage Act. That relates to documents that he took with him after leaving the White House.
The government’s chief piece of evidence is reportedly a tape of Trump discussing a national security document with Mark Meadows and his staffers during a Q and A for a book. The DOJ is accusing the former president of admitting on the tape that he knew the document was still classified. Jack Smith and his team of prosecutors are going to attempt to undercut Trump’s primary defense,
