For the past few years, Atlanta has been roiled by corruption scandals centering on the city’s decades-old program to favor minority-owned businesses in government contracting. The troubles started when Elvin “E. R.” Mitchell, Jr., a black contractor, began paying what became more than $1 million in bribes to city official and friend of the mayor Reverend Mitzi Bickers. Mitchell and his associates wanted to ensure that they could keep winning city-favored contracts and subcontracts for minorities, (Snip) Instead of righting historical wrongs, the policy has enriched a small subset of already-wealthy businesses, bred corruption and fraud, deepened racial divisions, and cost taxpayers countless billions of dollars

Seems most everything these day is a scam one way or another!

Don't forget the easiest scam of all. Install some figurehead/puppet minority as an 'owner' - voila! instant eligibility for set-aside contracts.

How it works. A minority begins a business, with no business, or experience. They take most of the money, then hire the cheapest subcontractors they can find to do the work. You won't be pleased with the quality of materials, labor, or the finished product.

I lived for many years in a largish Midwest city, and then lived for 5 years in the south near a town that had become majority black.
In both instances there was a lot of corruption. It looked to me as if blacks said hey, we’ve been watching white politicians on the tax payer gravy train for years, so now that we’re in charge it’s our time to make bank.

As long as we're rebuilding the Western world, why not have blacks do it?
After all they built it the first time around, no? Maybe they can get it right this time.
Such a brave, brave new world, embrace it.

I recall the Iraq reconstruction contracting scandal when dozens of US Army field grade officers were court martialed for taking kick backs I believe all were minority officers.

ALL contracting is a scam. You hire someone for a big job. He sends a full crew for a few days, then fewer and fewer. Before long he is sending his people to other jobs and you get nobody. Then he dodges phone calls. If they ever do finish the job, it is often shoddy. Take him to court? Ok, pay your attorneys and then try to collect.
I want a garage, but I'm not willing to go through the nightmare. I have yet to see an honest contractor in this area.

And the beauty of it is no one has the 'nads to call out individual bad minority contractors for fear of being branded, sued, and/or canceled. Carry on...

It's not all a scam, the government sometimes requires minority or women-owned companies to receive preferential treatment when bidding on contracts. DO NOT use one of them for computer programming, it is a guaranteed disaster.

I have seen it done this way as well. An existing contractor forms a new corporation and gives a minority 51% of the ownership thus being able to get contracts for jobs. The 51% owner is the CEO in name only. The existing contractor who owns 49% is actually running the operation and is winning more contracts through the minority corporation and is the primary subcontractor for the jobs . The minority owner makes out as well.

More proof blacks can only take and destroy. Not give and create.

It smells like the mob has taken hold of Atlanta... the method of operating is exactly like that of the Chicago mob who own ran a cement business...whose CEO was chosen because he was a black democrat....and he ran roughshot over anything in his way....one step at a time folks....victory will come because WE run from the heart...like Secretariat the famous speed demon horse on the track.....he didn't run with only his legs...he ran from the heart.....President Trump leads from the heart...he loves America!!

A company I worked for built a new addition to their already large building. For over a year, there was heavy equipment, each one proudly pronouncing ' A Woman Owned Company'. I never saw one, but there were dozens of tradesmen there.
Guess how that happens.
