Now that Ron DeSantis has entered the race for the GOP presidential nomination, former President Trump and many of his supporters have accused the Florida governor of disloyalty. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, for example, has suggested that DeSantis’ political ambitions have caused him to lose sight of “values like loyalty.” The basis for this claim is that DeSantis somehow owes Trump a 21st century version of feudal fealty because the latter endorsed him during Florida’s 2018 gubernatorial race. This kind of nonsense plays into the hands of the Democrats.

Republicans need to evaluate the best candidate who can deliver, gut the deep state and annihilate Biden’s disastrous policies

To say, “it is disloyal for DeSantis to run” is to say “I know nothing about our political system.”

I think it was an act of disloyalty being Trump saved DeSantis' political career and the fact that he was a shoo-in for 2028.

Hey, if you couldn't get enough of Paul Ryan, Mitts Romney, and Jeb Bush, then RdS is your man. Or he could stay in Florida and continue to be a good governor.

Ron DeSantis is a back stabbing MAGA traitor turned RNC Inc. Decepticon.
I know exactly who and what Mr. DeSantis represents and it's not America 1st, Trump/MAGA.
Bush, Cheney, Rove,Comey,McConnell and his gang of ghouls and creeps?
That's a Big HELL NO!!
Trump isn't saying anything about DeSantis the people I know aren't already saying in much rougher language Mr. Catron.
RINO Ron has plenty of bologna and cheese to go with that whine Mr. Catron.
We, America 1st, Trump MAGA 75 million verified, certified Real American Citizens intend to do a lot more than hurt some feelings Mr. Catron.

I say disloyalty is running and winning a four year term as governor of a state, then turning your back on that state's citizens and getting a law changed just so you can run for something else while still hanging on to the government job you have.

DeSantis himself stated that he would finish out his term as governor and was not interested in running for president. A person should mean what he says. We have too many politicians who do not. I don't see any disloyalty towards Donald Trump or anybody else but I do see an amateur embarrassing himself while attempting to please others.

The biggest problem I have with any and all of the people running against Trump is that by doing so they are validating the corrupt 2020 election. Rather than uniting against corruption and standing for truth, they are signaling that they do not care that elections are now a farce and the are willing to accept the new Fascist States of America so long as they can enrich themselves and belong the the party.

DeSantis supporters look the gauntlet of indictments our corrupt Justice department has lined up for Trump
and tremble. They've allowed the media and the Schiffs, Schumers and Pelosis convince them that they must have gone too far, that the scars Trump bears are character flaws.
They're ready to make concessions, thinking that this will mark a return to the more 'civil' days
of the past, when Republicans kowtowed and patiently endured the ridicule and calumny of the left.
They want proper credentials, a candidate versed in the academic double-speak of Georgetown.
They yearn to see a fresh face and a return to the days when negotiations were quiet because our side buckled for the sake of decorum.
Those days are gone, and concessions will only bring on fresh demands.
The dem's program of character assassination and false indictments will be shown to be a rousing success and become their default tactic.
And DeSantis, still largely unknown, will offer fresh fodder.
Weeks after the conventions have concluded we'll see our fresh faced champion transformed into a criminal and a pervert in the public's perceptions. They don't need actual events to point to; they'll simply make them up.
There won't be time enough to prove those accusations false.
The dems will win. Our hero will be destroyed.

In a way I admire the never trumpers, they never stop thing the never Trump was should think about it if DeSantis can't handle Donald Trump, how in the hell is he going to handle the Democratic machine and the media..
You can discount what Trump says about the santa's, it is a primary of course. However you cannot discount the fact that DeSantis broke his word, I've seen some of you rationalize it but the truth is he broke his word.

It’s a game people, a big game that is being played on everyone’s emotions. It doesn’t matter who wins the primaries, there will never be another conservative in the White House. Desantis is being used to infuriate Trump. Trump needs to thicken his skin and state facts without calling names. Maybe just maybe he’ll have a million in one chance to win some people over, I’m not holding my breath.

There is nothing blind about my loyalty to Donald trump.
I saw what he did alone and unhelped during his Presidency.
I am seeing every day what Biden is doing to destroy our country.
I will vote for Donald Trump with my eyes wide open.

May the Best man win!
So far, I'm not happy with either candidate as all they're doing is writing talking points for the Democrats come the general election.
I don't mind if they have a beef. But give credit where due

How some people can look at Ron DeSantis' career and performance in office and see Romney, Bush, Rove & Co. just boggles my mind.
Political sands are always shifting. Nothing stays the same from one election cycle to another. The 75 million vote figure is meaningless today.
Preventing the Dems from winning the WH again is all that matters.

I always have to laugh when Never Trumpers imply that President Trump’s supporters are a blind cult. Talk about a pot calling a kettle black. Let me summarize this article for you: DeSantis’ operation has more money and is “organizing a better ground game” (IMO, Deep State code for vote fraud), and when Trump loses the primary, you Trumpistas better get on board with DeSantis. Oh, and last, but never least, Trump is mean and he better stop it. The GOPe is so unbelievably out of touch with the base, it’s pathetic. You would think—seeing as they need us to win—that they would want to work with us. The attack on the Tea Party proved otherwise. They would just as soon work with the dems. So be it.

Re #2, without going and looking it up, I believe that “disloyal” remark had to do with an agreement DeSantis made with PDJT to not run against him. PDJT had given him a lot of support in his races. The media tend to lose or disregard the context.

Also from memory, Ron apparently made a public remark that God had sent him (paraphrased, so don’t jump). (He is relying on heavy evangelical support. See the connection?) Never missing a beat, PDJT came back with Ron DeSanctimonious.
Four great years. I won’t throw it away because PDJT is as sick of empty talk as the rest of us.

# 18, it's not about throwing it away Biden has already done a very good job of that. It is all about salvaging what we can of the republic. and (it is to be hoped) rebuilding from there. Which candidate may be better positioned to do that? That is the question the primaries will answer.
