The obvious reaction to the bizarre idea that Chris Christie will soon enter the 2024 GOP primaries and then win the general election – “Fat chance! – is accurate on every level. The rotund Republican has zero support among the base, having missed his window a decade ago and having gone on to become one of those Republicans whose primary function is to trash other Republicans – a chubby chimp dancing for dimes as the MSNBC organ grinders play. Why is he running? Delusion? Narcissism? Greed? Who knows?

I get his point and understand his frustration with the GOP. But face it, its not like both parties have had any non losers for decades with rare exception.

RINO Chris "Cholesterol" Christie could be seeking campaign contributions. Perhaps bacon doughnuts smothered in lard. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Late-Night Snack.

"The 2020 election, and subsequent ones, show Trump has a sub-majority ceiling."
Oh Kurt. Trump got 10 million more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016. The fact that he still lost to a bumbling old pedophile who, by some technological miracle, tallied more votes than Dark L0rd 0bama (wink, wink) is a pretty solid indication that the "ceiling' for Trump is less "sub-majority" and more "weaponized voting system powered by a corrupt cabal and its machines that fractionize a Republican vote and multiply a Democrat vote (or simply create one out of thin air)".

Based on the praise Trump gave Tim Scott, could you envision a Trump/Scott ticket?
Tim Scott would then be a sitting VP when he runs in 2028 and 2032.

I watched Scott as a guest on Fox today. Speaking extemporaneously. He looked downright hostile - head tilted back, eyes rather glaring. And wound it up with his trademark gummy smile. Ir was jarring.

Yep. We need a guy who will pick up his saber, and yell “Follow me!” Or one who will sink a little drink and shout out "She's with me!"

Well, I guess it is time to add Mitt Romney into the running and really make it a clown show!
Trump! Period!

The only problem with this piece is that we don’t yet know RDS’ agenda, except on the culture wars, so how can we support him yet? We also don’t know what they have on him whereas Trump is the most investigated person in history.

Schlichter doesn't mention it but, to some extent, the legacy media are still gatekeeping the GOP nomination.
The media are bored and cynical especially after their man Biden has been locked away drooling for two years. They pay attention to declared candidates only to fill column inches but there is always the implication that candidates can be dispatched if the media so wishes.
Some 'conservative' media are no better. Just because Vivek Ringaling says he's running doesn't justify the flood of coverage and interviews of this individual.
As we know, the media don't control DeSantis or Trump, which is why those two are hated with coverage to match.
As I say every four years, one of the biggest structural problems is the primary system, specifically having Iowa and NH first in the process. Iowa's goofy system produces goofy results. If Iowans want to shed the image of clueless corn farmers they might start by choosing better candidates and ignoring all the lame PR stunts like cookouts and county fairs. Similarly, NH is far too invested in these contrived candidate-visits-roadside-diner photo ops. As above, the media play far too large a role in both these states as armies of reporters and fleets of trucks descend.
At the very least, the primary system should rotate through the states, eg 10 per week for 5 weeks with groups A,B,C,D,E becoming B,C,D,E,A next year and so on. It would compact the process somewhat, reduce the permanent campaign and better reflect the nation as a whole.

We need people like Jiggling Jersey Jello to play the role of standing jokes while the serious candidates battle it out. Remember John Kasich and Jebbie Bush in 2016? Pure gold. They made the outstanding candidate really stand out. I had completely forgotten about Mitt Romney because he is so, well, forgettable. I'm sure we will have some surprise entries in 2024 who all come in with the thought, "if Joe Biden can do it, I can do it." I hope they have their own cheating organization in place because that's what it will take to beat Donald Trump at all levels. Somebody needs to tell the FBI and the CIA that they are not welcome to participate this time around. It won't be Joe Biden because that's his only chance.

Christie is in the race to get a buy out for a cabinet position...he was cheated last time because President Trump didn't want him near the government...along with romney...who wanted to be secretary of state....and President Trump said...no thanks....

"What we need to know is how they each propose to win in PA, GA, AZ, MI, and WI."
Unfortunately I don't believe the cheating has stopped in those states, and the FBI and CIA will still try to select the president. Unfortunately also, Ronna Romney McDaniel will be no help at all again. And #13, I totally agree with you.

The way DeSantis has been (maybe) throwing his hat in the ring for months seems kinda sneaky to me. I don't like it.
And I don't like the people who are pushing him hard despite the strong support for President Trump. They're the same people who are comfortable with our present system. They think they know better than the American people what's best for our country and will do whatever it takes to get "their people" in power. That's how this system has been run for ages, and I thought we were fighting to end this crooked system. So it is suspicious to me that Ron DeSantis is so happy to work within their "system." Now I don't trust him anymore than I trust them, and I question his motives.
I've been fooled by Trojan Horses before. And so has our country.

Kurt writes great suspense books. We have bought his books/series. However, Kurt is a recent Trump and a reluctant somewhat supporter. His description of the Rino's is hilarious! Thank you Kurt, no one can write like you!

The real funny ones are louts like this guy who want Republicans to be more like Democrats than they are and moan and groan to the media about it

Yup. People who signal that other Republicans deserve their unpopularity and could do better by learning charm, have not got hold of the situation.
