Among the most basic factors in what we may call the “practice of daily life” is one that is most easily forgotten or commonly neglected: trust. I mean, to begin with, trust in what we habitually regard as reliable without giving it a moment’s thought, as something we rarely doubt, let alone conceptualize. We seem to have little idea of the degree to which trust determines our every move, gesture and act. Trust, as James Bowman observes of honor in Honor: A History, is “reflexive” and at its core “inseparable from the human condition.”
Trust is instinctive in every moment of human existence.

If you’ve ever followed the efforts to expose the Church of Scientology for the abusive cult that it is, you know how the church inserts itself into any legal proceeding regarding one of its celebrity members, even if the case doesn’t directly involve Scientology.
It has come to light that Scientology attorneys got their hands on criminal discovery material in the rape trial of Scientologist and former sitcom star Danny Masterson. Masterson, who starred on That ’70s Show, faces accusations of raping three women in the early 2000s.
“Deputy District Attorney Reinhold Mueller told the trial judge on Wednesday that a tranche of criminal

I believe a that a society can only be as compassionate as long as it can spend other people’s money. When you start spending your own money, it’s funny how cruel and selfish people can get.
And an industrialized society can only be as green as it can afford to be without destroying itself. Save the trees — as long as you can still build my hardwood floors.
These are very simple rules that great big grown-up countries should live by. Immature nations ignore those rules and end up circling the drain. Fortunately, there are just enough leaders in the United States like Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller

Happy Friday, everyone. Once again, it was an up-and-down news week. No sooner had Trump finished playing hacky-sack with the heads of the CNN staff than Title 42 ran out and the inaugural Arizona Illegal Alien 5K was held. Everyone was a winner, except the American people.
Now that we can finally go outside for an extended period of time without getting hit with rain or snow, it is barbecue season in my part of the country. Admittedly, for me, every season is barbecue season. I’ve grilled in the spring, summer, and fall, and have even been known to shovel the patio in January so I could have a place

The good news is that our southern border isn’t actually wide-open everywhere, like you right-wing whackos keep saying. The bad news is that record numbers of illegal immigrants are crossing the Rio Grande at Matamoros in a carefully orchestrated effort between the Biden Administration and the government of Mexico.
I guess I’m one of those right-wing whackos — and if not, I certainly became one after finding this report for you.
The Center for Immigration Studies reported a real shocker on Thursday concerning a strange sight on the Mexican side of the border at Matamoros, across from Brownsville, Texas. There, “large crowds” of immigrants could be seen,

LAKELAND, Fla. - Polk County investigators identified the 13-year-old who fired a round at a Lakeland officer, striking him in the foot. Other officers shoot at the teen, sending him to the hospital.
During a press conference Thursday, Sheriff Grady Judd also named a 14-year-old and 19-year-old Jermaine Julian, saying they were with the youngest suspect, 13-year-old Wesley Dalmas, and tried to flee from police. Investigators said Julian is in a gang, while the Dalmas and Speight are "gang affiliated."
The sheriff firmly pointed out that age doesn't matter in the scenario that played out in Lakeland on Wednesday evening.
"I don’t care that chronologically they are 14, 13, or 19.

You are the carbon footprint they want to reduce.
Last week, Jocelyn Timperley penned an article for the BBC, and began by posing this question:
But what do truly low-carbon lifestyles look like – and can they really be achieved by personal choice alone?
Timperley’s piece paid special attention to two climate cultists, Carys Mainprize and Rosalind Readhead, and their ambitious experiments to go “ultra-low carbon”. The verdict? Impossible; something’s gotta give. Care to take a wager what that could possibly be?
If you guessed life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and property, you’d be correct.

Recently, while apologizing to "indigenous peoples" and denouncing Christians — without the all-important historical context — Pope Francis declared, "Never again can the Christian community allow itself to be infected by the idea that one culture is superior to others[.]"
This — claiming all cultures are equal — is a dangerous position, not least as it leads to relativism and the abnegation of Truth.
For most Western people today, the word culture conjures at best superficial differences — "exotic" dress or food. In reality, however, cultures are nothing less than entire and distinct worldviews with their own unique sets of right and wrongs, often rooted in a

Happy Tuesday, dear Kruiser Morning Briefing friends. (Snip) It’s always difficult to anticipate what new trickery the Democrats might concoct to sway any given election. They’re devious, after all, and it’s nigh on impossible for non-devious types to get in their heads.
Another thing that’s important to ponder is which parts of their established playbook they might trot out. It’s a thick playbook, to be sure, and there’s a good chance that they’ll be throwing the whole thing at the GOP to keep President LOLEightyonemillion around well past his expiration date. The cabal running Biden’s brain is at this moment prepping for whichever nominee the Republicans eventually throw at them.

Joe Biden is apparently suffering from delusions of grandeur. Despite his disastrous presidency, which has given us historic inflation, record high gas prices, a border crisis, a supply chain crisis, and countless Kamala Harris interviews, he fancies himself to be one of the most qualified presidential candidates in American history.
During an MSNBC interview, Biden was asked why, at 82 years old, he is the right fit for “the most important job in the world.”
It’s a surprising question to hear from someone from MSNBC, but it was not as surprising as Biden’s response was ridiculous.
“Because I have acquired a hell of a lot of wisdom.

Tara Reade, who says President Joe Biden sexually assaulted her in the 1990s when she worked in his U.S. Senate office, posted a cryptic message about what should happen if she dies.
"I want to make something clear. If something happens to me, all roads lead to Joe Biden," Reade tweeted Sunday. "Joe Biden and DNC political machine threats, bullying and intimidation over the last three years will not work.
She also said that she is not suicidal, nor a foreign agent and she only decided to tell the truth and testify under oath in Congress about her experience working for Biden.
The president has denied allegations of the assault

The least honorable president in American history had a softball interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle on Friday, in which he uttered one of the most outlandish lies of his entire life, which has been filled with his outlandish lies: “I think I’ve proven myself to be honorable, as well as effective.” As Matt Margolis noted Sunday, this was in the course of a paean of boasting from Old Joe Biden that included praise of his own wisdom and experience. But now Joe Biden would have us believe that he is honorable, too? Come on, man! This guy lies every time his lips move.
The part about Old Joe being effective, however,
