A panel in California, where rotten public policy ideas metastasize like a fungus growing in dark, slimy conditions, has approved paying reparations to descendants of slaves. It is impossible to overstate just how insane this is.
The reparations task force, appointed by Boy Gov. Gavin Newsom, voted Saturday to recommend the state pay out as much as $800 billion to the descendants of enslaved or free black people who were in the U.S. by the end of the 19th century. That’s 2.5 times the size of California’s annual budget. Recipients could rake in as much as $1.2 million each.
Or more. Much more. Because San Francisco’s reparations advisory committee has recommended
Why don't they make it a cool Billion Dollars each? It's not their money anyway...

Further evidence that California's statehood should be suspended and the state placed under the jurisdiction of a commission to stop this insanity and get California back on track.....kind of how DC used to be before they were mistakenly given home rule.

The *point* of this is to set ridiculously high expectations that can't possibly be met and thereby enrage those potential recipients when it doesn't happen. And, the rage won't be felt only in CA....

I believe California should pay every minority $1.5 million each, and raise taxes by 40% to pay for it. Then pay a guaranteed minimum income of $90,000 for every family. California is a wealthy state. And since California is the "model for the country", I believe occupants of other states should be allowed to vote in their elections, as it is a model for them, and California taxes worldwide income, maybe occupants of the planet should be allowed to vote in their elections. Everyone in California should be mandated to have all shots, or not be allowed to work, or go anywhere. Californians, being the "model", should be issued a social credit score to ensure they follow the model. Cars, trucks, appliances, lead, paint, lumber, copper, oil and gas, fertilizer, meat, and electricity, all should be banned from the state. Save the planet! California is the model!

When society realizes they can "save" $1.2Million with every .25cent bullet expended, the simple economic Cost/Benefit rubric will get "Loud".

Hey Gavin, start a non-profit. Let people choose to donate to your reparations fund. Disperse the money when you have collected enough money.

The potential recipients are the only people dumb enough to believe that they will really receive this money but one hundred percent of them will vote democrat.

The only upside to this is within a year or two most of the money will be back in the white man's hands.

Fine by me, as long as they deduct the cost of casualties, deaths, economic devastation, military spending, illness, and psychological upheaval--both during and as a result of the Civil War. Factor those expenses into the deal, adjusted for inflation. While they're at it, they can calculate on the disparate financial impact black crime has had on our nation. To be generous, let's just go back to the start of the Civil Rights movement for those numbers, but round up when we come to the George Floyd era. Fair is fair.

Hey, you, Federal Government! As a bonafide female I represent 50.5% of the US population rather than 12.1% of the population that is African American. The 19th Amendment giving females the right to vote wasn't ratified until 1920. It's totally unfair that I couldn't vote before that. {{{ WAH! }}} Give me/us money NOW!

As long as it stays in California, I don't care what they pay, But I do care when they ask the feds to bail them out of this foolishments.
If the fed give a dime towards California's bankruptcy plan I believe Americans in the rest of the country should have a tax revolt.
Pay no more taxes until we straighten out these crazed spenders.

Cadillac dealerships restocking the Escalade inventory, jewelry stores buying gold chains, drug dealers stockpiling warehouses of favorite street drugs,. The selected race of 'gimmie dats' will all be broke in one year investment firms need not apply. California is a joke that gives everyday.

IF this ever took place, every single recipient would become suddenly aware of Tax Rates, particularly upon those with a high net worth, there would be a MASSIVE "take the money and run" contingent that moves elsewhere, another MASSIVE contingent that Sells the properties they currently own to the new recipients at a suddenly inflated market rate and flees to another state, and the remaining Nouveau/Nuevo Riche ones would vote for ANYONE that will promise to reduce confiscatory taxes.

They’d still loot and plunder when given the opportunity, it’s in their genes, it’s what they do. Then they’d run state to state trying to cash in on reparations from anyone else stupid enough to pay them.
