There are now five candidates who have either joined the 2024 Republican presidential race or have taken official steps toward doing so: Former President Donald Trump; former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, also the former South Carolina governor; entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy; former Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R-AR); and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC).
Scott became the latest to join the group Wednesday with a video announcing that he has formed an exploratory committee for a presidential run. That is not really necessary — super PACs supporting Scott have already raised tens of millions of dollars. But it elevates Scott's status in the race

I was interested in your analysis, Byron, until you fell back on the old no-proof-of-widespread-fraud-in-the-2020-election. Once I know someone holds that position, the communication is over. I have no time for fools.

The more the merrier as far as the Trump campaign is concerned. In the 2016 Republican primaries Trump rarely received the majority of the votes cast but most often gained the plurality. With many other contenders running in 2024 the anti-Trump votes will be dispersed causing Trump once again to gain the plurality.

Byron York has never been a fan of PDJT. Byron is such an odd duck that rhat is no surprise. Trump is not his type, and vice versa. As for this article, he simply confirms what we know.

Presidenr Trump is a big boy. He would not want his wife subjected to any sort of bogus “trial” and the attendant media publicity. Our resident anti-Trumper will have to come up with something else.

The Republicans should require at least voter support of 5%, before boring us to death with nonentities in the Republican debates.

Waiting to see if Trump has any real competition.
Don't see any of those announced catching on with the public.
Have already heard enough from Hutchinson, Haley, and Scott. Not interested.
The only one I haven't heard of is Ramaswamy. I'm curious about what he has to say but not enough to vote for him.
I truly hope there are some good options going forward. Trump can only serve one more term.

Besides Trump, Vivek is the only one U have seen anything good from. So far he is saying a lot of the things I like to hear, but we all know how much that means at this point in the game - and to many of these, it is just a game.

I agree with #9. Vivek has a business background with proven ability to solve problems and to think for himself.

All Vivek has to do is mimic PDJT. Sound as though he is a believer. We know nothing about this guy. His business experience is not at a level with PDJT, yet the never Trumpers labeled him a “reality show entertainer”. The odds that Vivek would win a presidenetial election are slim to none...

Byron York's, Never Trump, anti-MAGA is on full display but what his writing reveals is why 75 million verified, certified real American Citizens voted for Trump/MAGA..
Trump's appeal consists of two concise factors:
1. His America 1st. MAGA priorities
2. His straight forward manner when speaking
Mr. York prefers his President's to speak and act like Obama but have the priorities of a Bush.
It doesn't take 18 paragraphs to comprehend the appeal of Trump/MAGA.
America 1st is how you MAGA

Trump has the nomination. Time to fire the heavy artillery on Joe Biteme and Governor Hairgel. The others, like Nikki and Asa, are either on an ego trip or doing a get acquainted tour to be the VP, like probably Scott or Pompeo. The business man with the name I can't pronounce has good ideas and is very articulate, but this is a get acquainted tour for him, but has potential for the future. The lawfare cases are obviously a great opportunity for a campaigner like Trump. These other candidates present no real challenge. I like DeSantis but he should stay out while continuing to tour the country building his name ID for the future or being Plan B if Trump is not available.
