Florida lawmakers are poised to pass a measure that would permit the death penalty for pedophiles who sexually assault children under 12 years old, a move that will likely trigger legal challenges and questions about its constitutionality.
The House will consider its version of the bill (HB 1297) on Thursday, while the Senate version (SB 1342) was cleared by the Rules Committee on Tuesday, paving the way for it to be presented to the full Senate.
The proposed legislation goes against decades of U.S. Supreme Court and Florida Supreme Court rulings that have prohibited the execution of defendants in rape and sexual abuse cases.

Perfect.
They won't ever stop until they are dead. Put them in prison for many years, and they'll do it again if they get out.
This is the right answer.

I have a long term friend who is a federal prosecutor, like 25 years. He's middling politically, we have stayed up all night a few times years ago rationally but occasionally heatedly discussing politics. He's more liberal than I am. We both never flew off the handle, and grew to respect each other's views, even though we don't agree on everything, for sure. He's pretty sensible about a lot of things....like he understands that being armed, CCW, is really smart. Pro gun, pro self-defense, definitely knows that there are bad people out there - he's put many in prison where they belong.
For many years he specialized on drug cases. Then they transferred him to child molesters and child porn.
We've discussed these sorts of folks, in broad generalities, never discussing particular cases, of course. He says many just look at photos, never touch a child.
But he agrees that the folks who molest children are "very broken" and "not fixable". And he agrees with my assessment that "if they ever get out of prison, they'll go right back to it" - he says that this is almost certainly the case for essentially all of the child molesters.
I say "death penalty", he won't say it, and some is because of his job, needing to "follow the law" and, I am guessing never appear to be any sort of a vigilante type, only following the law.
But when I say "I'm for the death penalty for child molesters", he says...."I can't say you are wrong". And he has put a lot of them into prison.
He recently transferred out of that sort of prosecution, said it was good to get away from that stuff. It'd difficult work, stressful.

Agreed that there are too many really evil, sick people in our nation.
But, let's not paint with too broad a brush.
Suppose some guy gets seduced by a 'well-developed' 14 or 15 year old female?
The females are out there, and it happens.
Does that guy deserve the death penalty?
On the other hand, what about the perverted, evil people in the medical profession that take some malleable young (say, 6 to 16 year old) female, convince her that she really is a male in the wrong body, then -not just 'touch' her 'girl parts', but CUT THEM OFF AND THROW THEM AWAY!
To me, THAT is EVIL!
L-dotters, what do YOU think?
Chip in!

Old Sparky has had a long rest. Dust him off and let him get to work. Light up a few pedos, save the taxpayers money.

Hopefully it's a death penalty with "fast-track" provisions.
Florida, please make another law like this one for "financial crimes" against the elderly, or vulnerable citizens.

No recidivism, no being released through "woke" pardons or "sentencing reform." Due to the irredeemably warped nature of pedophiles, this may have no deterrent effect, but if convicted they will be taken out of the game, permanently.
