It started with young women half-joking about being angry with the feminist movement for “liberating” women so they now have to get up to go to work to pay their own bills.
The BBC made a skit off the back of this complaint that, while meant as a joke, ended up being a perfect way that described how many women felt about their “liberation.” They say the left can’t meme, but this skit proves they can do so ironically. [Video]
Then a trend on TikTok began emerging that gained traction very quickly. It was women simply posting their daily lives as traditional housewives.

I've had one of those for over 40 years. They are great until the kids are gone.

I was very lucky that my husband was a very successful engineer. So when I got pregnant the first time, until my kids were all in high school, I was able to stay home and be a homemaker and mommy. I loved every second of it!!!

My observation of this is that this is another TikTok fad that has nothing to do with reality or “a movement”.

#3 - Dear friend, don't be so quick to dismiss this behavioral shift just because of it may have hit Tik Tok. I believe there is a natural swing of the pendulum happening with the young women of today. They are the granddaughters of the first wave feminists, and are longing for the world their grandmothers so thoughtlessly threw away.
The Nags from NOW (thank you, Rush) promised empowerment to women who entered the workforce. They would have time to fulfill themselves, extra money, and an exciting life. Today's young women are the third generation to experience working mothers, day-care from birth, widespread divorce and "blended" families. They have lived first-hand the consequences resulting from the false promises of the "Women's Movement". They saw their grandmothers and mothers become slaves to their day books and smart phones, the extra money they earned had to spent on a professional wardrobe and day care, and the exciting life was picking up take-out for dinner. While they may have been empowered in the board room, it often cost them their marriage.
Compared to this experience, the images from old movies and TV shows of the traditional marriage between a bread winner and a homemaker have to very appealing. Despite the Leftist trope of the arrangement being a male dominated trap, the reality is far different in a healthy marriage between a mature man and woman. The roles of breadwinner and homemaker are complimentary and unite the couple in the commonality of a life truly shared. Their relationship builds the foundation that bring forth healthy children, forming families that build our country.
We should welcome this trend and nourish it. Tik Tok may be the Devil's playground, but that doesn't mean we can't rumble.

Love it. This shoots the narrative "you can have it all" right in the ass. My wife was a stay at home mom for over 20 years, did the bulk of homeschooling, while I was working 2 jobs. Our kids are successful, independent thinking, living adults. The most important job is a mom at home, caring for the kids. Maybe this will be the start of the traditional, man & woman two parent family.

The secondary effect of "working women/mothers" was to increase the costs of homes, making it nearly impossible to buy a home on one salary. Therefore, off we went to work.
I find it ironic that NOW has gone totally silent on issues like trans-men in sports and genital mutilation. NOW was just another organization in the long list of those designed to destroy the nuclear family. It had nothing to do with "women's empowerment"!

Have you noticed how much the Feds take out of your paycheck? In the 'good old days' during the baby boom, the Feds let you keep your paycheck. Now with inflation and taxation, the pay check doesn't go very far and we all need two incomes. Blame the government with their taxes and inflation. All government creations.

The problem with being a traditional wife these days is that attitudes and divorce laws were changed in the 60s and made divorce much less painful. A 40-year old housewife today can be replaced by her husband's 25-year old hard-body coworker. When that happens, the housewife ends up having to start a career at 40+ years old. It happened to several of my mom's friends when I was growing up and made me decide that whatever the cost, I would have a career and my own money.

Two nieces don't work, take care of the kids and home, hubby works and pays the bills. One is a USMC officer the other is a USArmy officer.
Another niece has a few months old now, is a USAF officer. I hope she decides to quit and stay home in the next few months. She'll be a great mom.

Wondering where on earth #7 saw that. Certainly not in this article.
But like the article notes, whichever lifestyle somebody chooses has a mixture of pros and cons.

Re: 13 -- I'll confess I don't click on many videos. Of course, that's where the quip in #7 was... Mea culpa.
Pretty ridiculous, but pretty funny, too. Not sure it'll get me to click more videos, way too many of which just wound up being click bait.

From the article: "At the end of the day, the choice to be a traditional housewife or a working woman is up to the individual."
That false dichotomy makes my blood boil. A traditional housewife and mother works harder and works more hours than any employed person.

What AREN'T the fem-nazis furious about these days?? My mom wasxa traditional housewife until her chicks all started high school. Then she worked part time. As far as I know,, she didn't feel deprived of her choices at all.
