Senate Republicans found themselves shaken and disoriented Thursday after finding out their leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (Ky.) was in the hospital after tripping at a private event, raising questions about his health and future leadership of the GOP conference. McConnell, who in January became the longest serving party leader in Senate history, has led the Senate GOP conference since 2005 and has helped guide his colleagues through some of the biggest moments in recent history — the 2008 financial collapse, the near default of the U.S. government in 2011, the fiscal cliff of 2012, the two impeachment trials of …

Who's shaken and disoriented? Miss me with that. If anything, the base is in a state of hope. We're hoping this will finally rid us of McConnell. The other old coots should take a note or two from this and get out before they fall.

Mostly what that old coot did was preside, conspire with the Democrat Deep State, and stab Trump in the back. I will give him credit for keeping Merrick Garland off the Supreme Court, and getting conservative judges confirmed during Trump's term, but that's about it.
It sounds like a pretty serious fall if he hit his head hard enough to get a concussion bad enough to be hospitalized. That makes me think he fainted or passed out and fell and couldn't catch himself to protect his head.

August 04, 2019....."Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell fractured his shoulder on Sunday and is recovering at his home in Kentucky, according to his spokesman." "Spokesman David Popp said in a statement the majority leader tripped on his patio at home."
BTW, McConnell is 81 years old. "His current term ends on January 3, 2027." "McConnell was born on February 20, 1942"
McConnell will be 85 on February 20, 2027.
That is all. Everyone have a nice day!

My fear is who would replace him as a senator. Andy Bashear would surely appoint someone who would make McConnell look good in comparison. If MCConnell could just step down from leadership and wait until after the election (this November; hopefully a Republican will be elected), that would be better.

Kentucky law requires the Governor to appoint a temporary successor from same party as the departing senator.from a list of three names provided by the party executive committee.
A successor all depends on the state executive committee.

I would argue that the country has been left "shaken and disoriented" thanks to the policies of the Uniparty.
That said, head injuries are awful and I wish the Senator well in his recovery.

I'm not shaken or disoriented. And he was never my leader.
I hope he takes the opportunity to step aside and focus on his health and family and we never hear from his America hating RINO *** again.

Term Limits a prompt necessity!
Old politicians with little future
remaining should NOT be determining the future
of today's children. THEY DON'T care!
Your children are set aside, as are their's
(to some degree). The only difference
being their's are much more financially set
than our own.

I think they misspelled "giddy". The only people upset are Romney and his fellow dirt bags.

Don't like McConnell but I do not want him to be hurt. However, many of us do not consider this a disaster. He needs to be replaced, he needs to go. So retire already or stay, but REPLACE him as the senate leader.

Who in the world is the idiot who wrote this article? The Republican members of the Senate are grownups who I’m sure are capable of handling the terror of McConnell getting a concussion without too much handwringing. It says nothing about his future leadership role. The Hill loves him for turning his back on conservatives and helping the Democrats. We detest him for the same thing. It’s no small thing to challenge a sitting Minority leader. If it were, he would already be replaced.

A conk on the bean for an old coot is problematic. (yes, that does sound disrespectful, but suitable for an old coot who disrespects the voters and weighs his own greedy interests above the needs of the Nation.)
He easily could have fractured something, or the fall was secondary to some neurological problem, a stroke, a heart issue.
In short, he is a Big Man in DC and will get extra special treatment.

After what happened to Harry Reid when he disappointed his own Chinese business interests, it would not surprise me a bit to find out this was no ordinary fall. Plus after reading some stuff about the KY governor appointing a replacement, we could wind up with a democrat taking Turtle's seat. No difference I know. But we don't need any more democrats in DC.
