The National Archives on Friday apologized for telling visitors that they must cover up or remove their pro-life attire while being in the chamber where the original copy of the Bill Of Rights is on display. “As the home to the original Constitution and Bill of Rights, which enshrine the rights of free speech and religion, we sincerely apologize for this occurrence,”(snip) The apology comes after conservative law group American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ), on behalf of four March for Life participants from three states, sued NARA for First Amendment violations. The irony, of course, is lost on these Federal employees sworn to protect and defend our Constitution.

i'd think these bureaucrats would be lying low, considering the abominable job they are doing documenting and keeping track of government documents. one more just spring up at Pence's house, on top of the oodles that preceded. don't they know who has what and what is still checked out? my local library can help...apparently bureaucrats have no sense of competence - or shame.

Perhaps the low level woke employees who think they are the speech police should just be fired as a warning to the rest of them. But that would not be woke.

Government bureaucrats are democrats and the heart of the Deep State. What they do is deplorable but they can't help themselves - idiots, brainless & evil people.

Apology not accepted. These kids were robbed of the opportunity to visit the museum while in DC for another, paid-for, reason. The responsible employees should have to pay up out of THEIR own pockets - not mine.

For those who have visited the National Capitol Region (NCR), you may have noticed a recurring theme in the type of employees hired as security at the Smithsonian Museum exhibits, National Archives, etc. Let's just say that they are not the sharpest tools in the shed and they typically have a chip on their shoulder. Let's further say that said type of employee is not that easy to fire and...we'll leave it at that.

The National Archives should have to pay for each person they turned away to come back. This was probably a once in a life time trip for these students. With the economy the way it is, they should be reimbursed the money they paid for the trip, or be given a free trip to come back. Whoever made the decision to kick them out should be fired....after they had to read the Bill of Rights.

I had a few open days in D.C. and I went to every museum I could find. I went to the National Archives thinking I could see some of the old celebrated documents and along with the metal detector on entry I was gruffly greeted with a firm request for documentation from my state representative. I had no idea you needed an approved research document and the desk and guard looked ready to draw weapons. So much for it's being the peoples' institution.

It's more than ironic (not to mention hypocritical) to tell people who are guaranteed free speech in the Bill of Rights, that they have no free speech when viewing the Bill of Rights.
Evil flourishes when good people do nothing about this kind of totalitarianism. Fire the person responsible for the dictum.
Good for the ACLJ!

Note to readers of this post: you just don't get it do you? Freedom of speech is for hate speech only; mostly used by democrats.

Real Americans, from across this vast and wonderful nation, understand there are NO real Americans in Washington, DC, except those already buried. Agree with poster #6. If President could do it without the salary, so could these so-called ''employees.'' We deserve better.

The ONLY reason there was even a pathetic so-called apology is that these people made an issue of it with an attorney and the National Archives and the Smithsonian were caught red handed. How many times in the past has this occurred and "offending" taxpayers and patriots dutifully removed their "offenses" in order to remain in the exhibit?
And how many times does this happen, everyday, at other taxpayer financed institutions in all levels of government? I will bet, plenty. Fascist, fascist, fascist.

Some years back the Enola Gay was on display at the Smithsonian. It was roped off at about 20 feet. People were taking pictures of the WW II icon. I crouched down to take a low-angle shot and was approached by a guard and told I couldn't do that, and I could only take pictures while standing. No reason given.
I'm sure the caliber of government workers (an oxymoron like jumbo shrimp) has only gotten BETTER.

Termination by Decimation is the only way out.
ALL Federal employees regardless of rank are offered a $5000. cash buyout on Monday in return for voluntary resignation.
Buyout goes until Friday. They are all numbered off automatically 1-5.
On Friday one number is drawn. All employees with that number are terminated without severance pay, that day, without exception.
Two Mondays later the whole operation is repeated.
Repeat as necessary.
Terminated employees prohibited from ever 'serving' again in any Bureau for life.
Amazing what that will do for morale.

If no one is fired or prosecuted for this offense, this is another one of those drive-by insults to Conservatives for which they apologize, even as they plan on the next offense.
