In the name of “equity,” the Biden administration and state Democrats have declared war on the suburbs:
The Biden administration and Democrats in New York, Connecticut and other states are fighting local zoning laws in order to build high-rise apartment buildings with “affordable” units in tree-lined, single-family neighborhoods. All in the name of equity, meaning everyone can live in a tranquil suburb, whether they’ve earned the money to pay for it or not.
The Biden administration announced Jan. 19 that it will require all towns across the U.S. to submit “Equity Plans” showing how they will make it possible for low-income people to live there

The reasons that suburbs are tranquil is because people who make suburbs not tranquil don't live there.

Get back to us when the government puts up low income housing in Atherton, California or Kalorama in DC. And let’s not forget Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod.

Some pushback is going to come from the democrats who live in the 'burbs. They never do as they want others to do and are very strong NIMBYers, as we saw in Martha's Vineyard last year. As far as "Equity Plans," get an education, a good job, save your money and anyone can live in the 'burbs.

This is about education and K thru 12 public schools. And how it isn't "fair" that middle class suburbanites can simply move away and pay taxes solely for the benefit of their own children alone.

This is another of the Left's ...ah... dreams. For them a dream is part of the entire compulsion to bring about the communist revolution, i.e., world communism, i.e., new world order. Obama was trying to cram this demolishment of the suburbs, too. The "Middle Class" emerges out of the suburbs; they are the backbone of the country; they are the core of our military at its greatest.
Notice how everything they do is authoritarian in nature, totalitarian in scope. It doesn't matter is that's what "the people" want. THEY want and demand it.
This is the thing to remember: the Dem/Left never, ever give up. They will take a "strategic pause", but they are fiercely teleological in their politics. They don't, however, take steps backward. They push until the Repubs back down, give in, palliate, or offer something --as Rush (i attribute it to Rush) put it-- Democrat lite.
(I sure miss Rush)

I clearly remember Pres. Trump talking about this exact situation. And people sort of grinning, and saying, "yeah, sure". Well here you go. So all you suburban moms enjoy FJB invading your space with whomever.

The only way their green future nonsense can work is to pack everyone together in small spaces and ban travel. Disease spreads quickly in dense populations.(and dense can be interpretted in at least two ways).

# 5 back to you. Been doing it for years here. Down at the bottom of the one way road they replaced a golf course with many 5 story apartments with little to no parking. Everyone was against it except the liberals in government. They figure they will use mass trans and won't clog the only way out the next time we have to evacuation for a fire or earthquake.

#18 is correct. Obama was pushing this. Of course, while he was a "community organizer," he was agitating for this issue, suing banks and mortgage companies. Bank of America caved, as did others.

FTA: “Democrats are locusts.” Apt description. They cannot bear the fact that we exist. Therefore, we must be punished for having the audacity to believe that it is our God given right to live a life free of an oppressive government breathing down our necks and making life miserable. Notice that most suburban communities are diverse and our neighbors regardless of color or creed do not want apartments and public housing in their communities either. As our little village has grown so have the number of liberal elites and they are very active in local politics. We have had this same issue come up and it has been rejected but, once again, it has reared its ugly head and it looks like they may get their way. The left never stops pushing, however, we have to be just as tenacious. We cannot ignore them or fail to be engaged because they will not go away. They will try and wear us down. I just can't for the life of me understand why they are so utterly destructive. They are a miserable lot and the only thing that gives them any pleasure is the power to make others miserable.

I would hope that someone is keeping a running chronology of all the orders and policies promoted by this administration that is transforming our country from being "the land of the free and the home of the brave" into the land of the unrecognizable (which would, of course, include all the executive orders immediately issued by them to cancel President Trump's efforts to benefit the lives of all races, creeds and colors.) Trump always tried to unite, not divide.

The plan to "make it possible for low-income people to live there" has already been written. Once you spoil the landscape with one high rise and it's accompanying drug culture and trashy welfare-dependent people, anybody who is hard-working and peace-loving moves out and the entire neighborhood gets swallowed up.

Here's the deal folks....the black city plantations have become to unmanageable...so it's time to move the mass plantation folks to greener pastures and then tear down the housing mess in the inner city for businessmen to build housing for the elite of this world....did this 20 years ago with section eight housing in Palatine,Illinois...ruined the school system and now it's a corrupt suburb with democrats to run it into the ground....

Beware of bureaucratic buzzword "equity." It is not a benign word to be used in place of "equality." It is a malicious word that not only allows, but requires government manipulation to produce OUTCOMES that recipients have not earned, in order to benefit dictatorial government bureaucrats. It is a redistribution of wealth that the most corrupt politicians are trying to shove down middle America's throat.
This quick and dirty scheme to destroy suburbs is an especially nasty attack on middle America, because few people who live there, regardless of race, have had that lifestyle handed to them. Just as this administration is trying to "remake" the United States by importing poverty, crime, and drugs while raising taxes on Americans, it has scheduled American suburbs for a "remake" as well. ALL WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. This top down, dictatorial form of government deliberately robs Americans of the wealth they worked for. Americans feel poorer because they ARE poorer. And this administration is just getting started.

The wonder of a federal system means that all of the blue states can start this plan today and, if it turns out great (which it won't), all of the other states can choose to adopt it. However, when all of the people in the tranquil, blue suburbs decide to move to Florida or Texas, they may have to make some changes -- maybe even some demolition. Just don't ask the other states to pay for their short-sighted mistakes.
